I do not have Windows. I do not have a Mac. I do use linux. Why do you think that only pool ops are using source? How can I make sure that the binary you built has no troian/backdoor in it? How can I make sure that the properties of the coin you claimed are the ones coded into the client?

On launch time: Release of Windows/Mac application which will give solo-miners a chance to grab some blocks/rewards
+30 Minutes: Release of first Giftcoin pool will be announced and sign-up will be open
+60 Minutes: Release of source code on Github, other pool operators will have a chance to open a pool for Giftcoin
+2 Hours: First official GiftCoin giveaway thread will be created!

This is useless if the malicious code is brand new. When I have the sources then I can quickly compare them with the sources of the other coin (that I already verified) and see the differences. This way it is quite simple for me to find any suspicious code and much reliable than to scan it with AV toolkit with high probability of false positives.
