I've contacted a few individuals closely contected to this innovative project & no response
from anyone..

 who or where can I buy from?

I'm aware of the amount of risked involved & the chances of me lossing my btc
through the Proof-of-Burn process.

I would like to express my interest by investing in this promising project

is there a 3rd party issuing or offering XCP for sale?

PM me

when i run bitcoin-qt.exe, shows "Error: You need to rebuild the databases using -reindex to change -txindex", the bitcoin.conf is :
rpcuser=rpc
rpcpassword=xxxx
rpcport=18832
rpcconnect=localhost
server=1
daemon=1
txindex=1
who can help me, thanks!

You need to run bitcoind with the command-line option -reindex the first time.

Im very new with things like this so i want confirm before i make anything wrong. I never have get even solo mining with software working so i dont know i make all right now. I want burn my BTC in mainnet to XCP.

So I just get blockchain downloaded and now i need restart my bitcoin client.
I have make bitcoin.conf file manually not with cmd.exe to C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin folder and there read next:

rpcuser=rpc
rpcpassword=rpcpw1234
server=1
daemon=1
txindex=1

And now i start my bitcoin-qt.exe again? Or need i first go with cmd.exe to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\daemon folder and write "bitcoind.exe -reindex" (without " ")?

How i can make sure that read my config file and run server?

Im reading this thread in page 10 now so if all have explained very later in very simple, im sorry that i ask again Smiley

first of all you cannot buy it from anyone, because no one can transfer it.

so your three options are:

1. DIY (with some help)
2. have someone else burn for you and have them give you the privkey to the address and trust they don't screw you
3. have someone else burn for you, and trust that they will transfer to you when that is possible.

note that it could be possible to use a trusted escrow service to hold security funds until it gets on mainnet and there is still the chance albeit small that op_return does not get miner support...

You may follow this steps using blockchain wallet. It's the easiest way for non tech guy and worked out well for me.
I copy and paste this instruction from http://counterpartyd-build.readthedocs.org/en/latest/HowToBurn.html#blockchain-info-my-wallet

Blockchain.info My Wallet
To perform a burn on blockchain.info, do the following:

Step 1

First, sign up for a My Wallet account (if you haven’t already) at this link.

Step 2

If you want to burn X BTC (where X <= 1 BTC) from address A, then make sure that there is exactly X + .0001 BTC in address A. (And that you haven’t already burned more than 1 BTC - X BTC at that address.)

Step 3

Click on the “Send Money” tab, then click on “Custom” under “Transaction Type”. Do the following:

Select address A under the “From” box
Enter ‘1CounterpartyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUWLpVr’ next to the “To” box.
Enter ‘X’ BTC to the right of that.
Set the “Miners fee” to exactly .0001 BTC.
The change address can be anything, because there should be zero change. (To clarify: you should not burn from an address that has a balance of more than you are burning: we can’t guarantee that Blockchain.info will always list a change output last.)

Step 4

Click “Review Payment”.
Click ‘Show Advanced’.
Verify that all of the input are identical (summing to X + .0001 BTC) and that exactly one output (X BTC) listed.
Click “Send Transaction”.

Account is irrelevant as long as you don't burn more than 1 btc from each address and follow the instructions provided earlier

If they appear on the blockscan page above, it is a confirmed burned as reported by the official Counterparty client

Yes in this case.. Unless you somehow managed to get hold of the exodus address which is very unlikely

Everyone has the probability of 1 / (2 ^ 160) in generating a new address which happens to be same as the burn address.

@PhantomPhreak

Hello,when I saw your XCP,I was surprised to find that it's characterized is very similar to my previous thoughts.
This is my  postings at December 26.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=385739.msg4154105#msg4154105
Maybe a coincidence?
should be coincidence .

We don't know whether it was a coincidence.I am considering the issue of copyright.
Search "proof by burn" and you will see if it has a copyright, it does not belong to you.

Well,I see. The idea of "proof by burn" don't belong to me.What I mean is: some characteristics of counterparty is similar to my thoughts.

Hi,
https://github.com/PhantomPhreak/counterpartyd

If you download the source code and have a good look, you will understand that the reason here people burnt more than 500 BTC was not just for some thoughts (like someone invested on Visacoin, Neon just based on some posts). This project is promising because the two developers have already spent a lot of efforts and have got concrete results. The system is working now on testnet already. It's not some vaporware stay in paper (let alone some projects, Visacoin and Neon again, don't even have a whitepaper).

BTW: you can see the initial commit was on 15 Dec. Therefore, they begun their work at least one month ago. Moreover, they don't gain any advantage (other than their insider confidence) over normal investors after so much hard working. Therefore, please show some respect to them and stop mentioning about your post again. It's clever for you to find the idea 'proof by burn' independently, but keep referring it as it was created by you does more harm than good to you.

We do not really think that BTC can be burned. The best application is to develop more based on bitcoin protocol, because bitcoins network is strong and secure now. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=410386.msg4448964#msg4448964

Can the devs confirm this a safe approach? I recall they warned against using web-wallets.

Burning bitcoins seems like such a stupid counterintuitive idea.  I like it!

If you were to burn coins from an armory wallet, would there be any problems different from burning from a blockchain.info wallet as described in the instructions?

Be careful in three things if you want to burn with other clients.

1) Ensure your wallet has only one address (not even hidden ones). It's better to be a newly created wallet without sending out bitcoin before (so there's no hidden change addresses).

2) Ensure the balance in the wallet is exactly the amount to burn (<= 1 BTC) + 0.0001 (miner's fee), so there's no change. Otherwise, the change address may be randomly positioned in some clients.

3) If you are not using bitcoin-qt, ensure you can export the private key of this address and later it can be imported into bitcoind, cause you cannot use normal BTC client to do any transaction other than burning later. You have to import the private key of this address to bitcoind later.

Finally, please test with small amount in another wallet first.
