I burned BTC via blockchain.info, how can I use my XCP? Is it possible to use Counterpartyd even if I burned by blockchain.info?
Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

You will need to export your private keys from blockchain and import them to your local bitcoinQT instance running along side with counterparty. And then issue the necessary (send, etc) commands from the counterparty client

Cheers

I can add this to the front page of blockscan if you think this would help ?

Definitely, if you will clearly show the mind boggling difference between funds burned and funds donated to developers (perhaps via some chart), and emphasize that the value of XCP on market is depending on the success of the project which in turn directly based on amount of work the devs can put into it, this will be a big motivator for all current and future investors.

I think/hope that most simply are not aware of the huge difference between burnt and donated funds.
(Just look at NEX project, which already raised ~7BTC in donations based on possible potential only - without any working product).

what conclusion can you draw from this for counterparty?

...and what I quoted above (the second post on page 1 of this thread) is the most simply way to do this?

Yeah the sooner someone can give a step by step set of instructions on how to go from

1. Bitcoin QT client (stock settings)
2. Blockchain.info wallet with burnt BTC

to

3. sending XCP to Bitcoin addresses

The sooner the devs will get XCP donations. We're not all devs here. I can use the heck out of some command line but I still need step by step instructions to get to that point.

For my part I didnt burn any btc for xcp yet. And I am looking for a step to step instruction that is easier thatn the one one page 1 (second post).

Different question: Donations should promote defelopement and dont have any effect on potential ROI?

That we all need to support the devs, if we want the project to succeed / make profit on our investments.

Imho the development directly influences the product value and the potential ROI. Compare this to how MSC / NXT value soars with each new progress announcement.
All the rest is just a short-term speculation, that will leave many burnt (and not in the Proof-of-Burn way Smiley ).

I've read almost the whole thread and 'll try to burn my first coins today.

I intend to give 10% of the burnt BTC to the Devs if i'm successful. Everyone should give at least 1%

I have created a thread to discuss assets within Counterparty: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=424439.0. In my opinion, asset creation is one of the broadest features of Counterparty, and as a result a complete understanding of its functionality (and the best way to take advantage of it) is quite difficult to achieve, and a community effort is the best way to do so. A thread dedicated to the discussion of assets will help make the Counterparty protocol more usable, and so I encourage users to direct their questions regarding assets to that thread.

Imho for the moment it best to stay within bitcointalk, once XCP gets some traction we can indeed set a new one.
