I made a merged mining patch for qubitcoin. i can help update q2c to LTC code and then hard fork it for myriadcoin mm

What does updating Q2C to LTC code means? If it means replacing all algorithms with the one that LTC is using (scrypt), then it is no longer Qubitcoin. Besides that, mining Qubit uses 50% power of what you need for LTC.
I'm afraid that by doing this Qubitcoin would lose its identity. If someone wants to mine Qubit there is already a way and it is working fine.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I won't say you're wrong, but you're certainly misunderstanding what ahmed_bodi is offering to do here.  In practice, from a current Q2C miner's perspective, nothing would necessarily change - except they'd be able to mine MYR alongside Q2C.

From the perspective of Q2C as a coin, there is a huge benefit in terms of enhanced network security, with the MYR-qubit hashrate working to secure Q2C too.

If you'd like to get a better feel for how Myriad merged mining currently works on the Myriad p2pool network, please visit http://myriad.p2pool.geek.nz/merge.  On this page you will find details for the merged coins that are currently being mined on p2pool.  We started off running scrypt merged mining, but are looking to branch out into the other 4 algos in due course, as and when the right coins are available.  If you check http://myriad.p2pool.geek.nz/nodes, you will see that we have nodes for all 5 algos (I run the UK nodes).  Adding Q2C would be straightforward if ahmed_bodi is permitted to proceed with his proposed patch.

Please note that miners require a payout address for each and every coin that is merge mined on myriad.p2pool.geek.nz, and we provide links to download the full wallets for each coin.  By doing this, we are looking to support coins that partner with us, by encouraging our miners to hold the coins they mine rather than auto-exchange or dump them.

Collaboration is definitely the way forward for altcoins now. Those communities which are isolated cannot survive long term unless they are very large indeed.

OK. If by doing this we gain on security without big modifications, I would say that is the way to go.
What do the other Q2C users/miners think about this? I suggest we make a poll.

Could you just in a simple way explain what will happen when you do the modification? I understand that people will have to download new wallet. Which mining application will we have to use (If we need to change it at all)? Things like this - from the moment of change. I'm guessing that there will be no problem to do solo mining.

I am sorry but I'm not familiar with all these technical things and I believe most of the people aren't, also.

Henrietta.UK coin is very run down but as you can see, the thread has over 200 pages. Qubitcoin has its guardians and still is a pretty good exchange which is poloniex

- What do you expect?
- What do you need?
- What you experience, and what's your relationship with myrdiacoin?
- What are the risks when it comes to the same hard fork and changing the code base for ltc
To be fair to Ahmed, answers to all these questions are readily available (I know, because I have availed myself of them).

Quote
Here I am waiting to speak gjhiggins, a person deemed to be involved in the very recent advances q2c.
I have already made a recommendation that Qubitcoin users/miners accept Ahmed's offer (the alternative is to drum up enough resources to commission him to implement it at some later date). My assessment was based on the economic and technical pressures on Qubitcoin. They haven't changed, nor has the recommendation.

Apologies for not responding to your PM. At the moment, I am necessarily totally focused on revenue and the unfortunate fact is that a single day's pay for contract work, if exchanged for Qubitcoin, would catapult me to the upper ranks of the rich list. The inescapable fact is that I simply can no longer afford to devote significant amounts of time to developing Qubitcoin.

But this is to Qubitcoin's ultimate benefit, it's a p2p network and that's how it was designed to work, not merely be a charitable hobby project for some fortunately well-resourced individual.

I stepped into what I consider to be a temporary breach; a krecu returning with hair-raising tales of everyday life in a war zone would be welcomed with open arms. Go on, tell me I'm wrong, I dare ya --- see, there is a genuine sense of community but it needs nurturing.

The real onus is on the Quibitcoin-owning community to operate as a thriving p2p network. I have made a number of contributions in an attempt to sustain interest in the interim and they have indeed apparently been well-received. Qubitcoin does still seem to have some potential but the community is undecided on how to proceed.

I originally misperceived this inertia as a simple variant of “bystander apathy” but after looking more closely I now realise it is more deep-seated and pragmatic in its origins and I suspect it's shared by nearly all similar altcoins. (This isn't the appropriate forum for a detailed explanation of the social psychology of online groups of investors and providing a trivial description of the issues would necessarily oversimplify things and would risk triggering profoundly damaging misperceptions.)

I strongly suggested that someone, anyone, organise a vote. Nothing happened. We Brits have a saying: “You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink” and it is very pertinent in this case.

Stability deriving from inaction-by-default is a feature that's explicitly wired in to the fundamentals of the bitcoin protocol. It is how it is supposed to work. Granted, it may not necessarily be working to Qubitcoin users'/miners' long-term interests in this particular case but that's just my opinion and ... as I have noted previously ... I have no skin in the game and thus not in a position to gainsay the opinions of those who do.

tl;dr bearing in mind that advice is worth what you pay for it: either take Ahmed's offer or get yourselves sorted out for ponying up enough $$ (not Q2C) to support the hash rate later if that turns out to be an issue. It's all about gaining personal advantage from incisive and accurate risk assessment --- that's what brings y'all here, right?

Cheers

Graham

I think the fellow ahmed_bodi mistaken. He was referring to MYR not LTC. ahmed_bodi what your relationship with the whole project myriadcoin?

Nope. i'd be updating Q2C to the LTC codebase but keeping it the Q2C changes such as the algo, address versiom difficulty algo etc. And why should Q2C be merged-mined. No one takes a coin which is easy to be attacked seriously.

Go for it ahmed_bodi and good luck!  Smiley Smiley

The difficulty is increased from 17 to 77 in less than 24 hours.

I seek the qubit stratum-mining to open a new mining-pool.
Where can I find it?

P4rkeR sorry but q2c distribution phase has been properly completed, the current coin is in the process of combining mining myriadcoin, who also uses the qubit algo. The aim is to maintain the stability and security of the network. It's easier to buy q2c on the exchange, or dig something for income and to buy q2c on poloniex.

I greet the new q2c fan;)

It looks like our future to be developer is not as serious as we tought. He was supposed to close the poll on Thrusday and I reminded him twice already but got no reply from him what so ever. Now I think that if we proceed with this merge we will completely lose grip with this coin. If Ahmed is not responding for these simple things like closing the poll, imagine what will happen if we had a bigger problem and wanted to change something.
