Aww, come on Sy! I'll share half your stake to enter EPL (if I'm allowed to do that!) cause I suspect we'd gain a lot from your participation. Very enjoyable pool everyone. Thank you to hilarious for organising. I finished 13th (actually really similar to the last EPL pool I think I also finished 13th haha). I see I'm 18th in the bracket, backed all the underdogs, but the wrong ones!

Well done to Trofo, I'm not exactly sure who's finished 2nd and 3rd, too lazy to count the bracket. You led so far up and also topped brackets, so you did really well.

hehe ok I will join it mate , the thing is that I rarely keep up with the EPL since I mainly follow La Liga and Serie A but maybe joining will give me an incentive to follow EPL
I will share with you the info and tips that I get from the tipsters that I'm subscribed to , I do bet the EPL but I never watch it

Is there some nice topic where we can share our best tips or we have to create a new one? I would like to have a place where I can share few tips on football/tennis and receive some hopefully good info in return as well.

Minimal in order to have it a bit more interesting but not to big because I would want it stay more like fun, not another job. Just a place to share a tip or two. We could make it monthly or for the whole season and without any restrictions on sports. It is a bit of pain to track something like this so I don't know if it even worth doing. I would like to say that I will keep track of the results but I will probably not have the time for it after the real world job picks up again. Maybe we can shift the responsibility for score tracking in google spreadsheet every week or so.

First goal came after very soft foul and we can say that France shouldn't have gotten it, but again there is a lot of decisions like that in the game and nobody wouldn't mention it if there wasn't a goal as result from that free kick. It happens, on first viewing I would give the foul as well, but after watching the tape you can see that he dived before contact. Again, can't really blame the referee.

Yeah, you could argue all day about such things as tackles and 'soft' fouls that should or shouldn't have been given. What happens if someone scores from a corner or throw in that shouldn't have been given? People start complaining about that? Sometimes decisions go your way and sometimes they don't, but it's all part of the game at the end of the day.

It's easy for us as spectators to complain about decisions but we're not on the pitch and have the added benefit of instant replays from about half a dozen angles instantly. I've often thought things were (or weren't) clear penalties or free kicks upon live/first viewing but changed my mind after the replays and that's something refs or players don't have (unless it goes to VAR but then a lot of the time it's down to opinion). People complain about diving as cheating, but if you can get away with it why wouldn't they do it? On the flip side, sometimes people are fouled, but they don't go down and try carry on, therefore they don't get the penalty or free kick when they should have, whereas if he had of gone down or exaggerated then they might have got it. With that being said, people who blatantly dive or make a meal out of it do - or should - get carded so these things work both ways and fouls given or not being given are just something you have to accept and deal with.

Plus, I personally prefer club football over internationals as I feel that they are just more enjoyable. Yeah, I must admit I usually like the World Cup, but know nothing about how the teams play, and only know of some of their players. Although, I watch the EPL fairly regularly, and hope that will help me this time around.
