different "best" for himself
Data protection is bigger issue, than virus/malware removal, after your Data is violated. then the title should say best data protection antivirus

Also, obviously most viruses are written for Windows OS's, so a Linux distro with a AV and firewall would be best, but many of us don't want to use Linux on our home PC's (myself included).

Nod32 or Bit defender and staying away from dodgy websites is best way to avoid any kind of attack.

When using windows throughout the years I've always found Malwarebytes anti-malware to be the best anti virus program. It's free unless you want to pay for the 'full' version, but it doesn't get you much more than the free version. Easy to use, both for protection and scanning. You can find them at; https://www.malwarebytes.org

Whenever I've used it there has been a protection option avaliable, which actively detects sketchy websites and downloads, doesn't that qualify as a anti-virus?
