When using windows throughout the years I've always found Malwarebytes anti-malware to be the best anti virus program.
It's free unless you want to pay for the 'full' version, but it doesn't get you much more than the free version.
Easy to use, both for protection and scanning. You can find them at;
https://www.malwarebytes.orgIt's not a anti-virus program, it only scans for malware. Make sure you also have a anti-virus software and of course a firewall too.
Whenever I've used it there has been a protection option avaliable, which actively detects sketchy websites and downloads, doesn't that qualify as a anti-virus?
But it scans these downloads for malware, it does not do the main function of an anti-virus software programm, which is to scan for and remove/quarantine viruses from your hard drive(s) and downloads. It just scans for malware.
