Excellent job on the exchange. It is fast and nice to eye. Keep up the good work and our coins in safe place Cheesy

Thank you. We will be doing our best to maintain a secure and solid platform with excellent speeds.
Having said that, dont hold crazy amounts of coins with us, just in case (hackers will always attempt to get your money).
We are using cold/offline wallets for a large part your funds, but not 100% ofcourse.

How well do you think this site will scale with the increasing number of users? It seems all the alt coin exchanges right now are having problems with this.

The exchange will not be allowed to grow without maintaining its amazing perfomance. We will scale to as many servers/cpus as needed.

The technology we use (Node.js, Redis, Mongo, MySQL etc) is highly scalable and performs well in the context of an exchange,
which is event-based in nature. We dont believe any of the other exchanges are using Node.js yet (if anybody does, then its btc-e).

cryptsy coins e coinex all use node.js

My negative trust rating is reflective of a personal vendetta by someone on default trust.

cryptsy coins e coinex all use node.js
Any source on this? Python, Ruby or C/C++ are more likely.
Node.js was not mature enough when these exchanges started, and there is a lack of real experts on Node.js.
If they do use Node, then they simply do it the wrong way - its capable of alot of perfomance.

To mikellev: since when is Oracle a programming language or platform? It's a company behind the MySQL database engine Smiley

I was going to say that. XD

My last KDC deposit took almost 15 minutes. A eternity by Coinmarket standards. Smiley

I also want to add my kudos to the coinmarket.io team.  Compared to any other exchange I've used the speed is night and day faster on coinmarket.io.  Keep up the good work!

I see you have a troll box as an upcoming feature list.  I would like to request that if you do implement it please give us the option to remove it in our account settings.  Seeing the "experts" and advertisers that dominate the troll box at coin.ex exchange is just silly.  But with the box there it is hard not to read it at least some of the time so I would rather avoid the distraction completely via an option to deactivate it if possible.

Thanks again and good work!

Optimized some code and switched Express to Production mode.
This decreased our CPU load by 250-300%, and we are not even on the actual production server yet Wink
The database CPU usage will be optimized aswell, as it now takes more resources than the core Node.js process.
CoinMarket.io will always try to maintain high perfomance, even if it means pausing new registrations, for example.

The front page got just a bit slower due to the twitter feed which is included from an external server. Trading happens at blazing fast speeds.

ChasingTheDream: the trollbox will have an opt-out feature. You will be able to simply turn it on and off by clicking its header.

I dont agree with the possibility to turn off trollbox. I think it should be a mandatory feature.

Great site, picking up some NOBLE right now  Grin

My recommendations from a design standpoint:

Somehow set the buy and sell columns off color-wise, just so it's easier to identify which is which at quick glance.

Twitter feed: since you're using node.js, let it cache the feed if possible. Every 30 seconds, minute, whatever seems reasonable.

Tie in the buy/sell panel with the actual currency selected at the top (like tabs/panels). It's a bit difficult to tell some things on the site apart because it's a quick bootstrap job and the colors are poorly chosen and the fonts are difficult to read. I know it will all improve so I hope I can give you some tips to save you time later :-)

All that being said, the performance is great and it's the only market I can comfortably use on my iPad while watching reality TV (there are more people than you would think that do this). I really hope you guys can succeed because I hate Cryptsy with every bone in my body.
