Those rankings mostly means that to let you know the most active coin in the market. It doesn't guarantee  how profitable your investment will be. It is still gonna be slow and steady increase in the price or in short, it is still gonna be a long-term investment no matter how you turn it around. Don't focus too much in the ranking of the coin. Put it in a way on "Why do people still panic sell at Bitcoin after it dips?".
In addition to top 100 coin in top, there are types of coin that appear and compete to stay in top 100, there are many potential types of coin that we can not know before. Everyone is afraid of Bitcoin as a bubble will burst so ưhen its price has dropped, everyone sell off.

Yes, this is extremely risky. I certainly would not do so, at least without very serious analysis. It is much easier to buy top coins.

It is necessary to study this or that cryptocurrency well before investing in it! Delve into the idea and see the road map ! You can draw conclusions as the team held an ICO and how it approaches the business and development of the project !

i THINK bUYING ANY CRYPTOCURRENCY IS A RISK, its not just about the top 100, since even some f the top 100 sometimes post very negative results while coins ranking way lower make people more money, its just about doing your homework and researching well on the market and making sure you only commit the amount you can afford to lose

if you recognise the project potential much early then you can make a lot for the money. If you can't research for some reason then always good to go with top few coins, not top 100 coins.

I am on the idea that those who put up dough into cryptos assume risk is rather high a few weeks and then turns into more bearable after some time if thing go as planned.

You bet! Moreover, it is risky to buy coins from the top 100, and even from the top 50. It is risky to buy crypto currency as a whole. And do not say that this is not . Everyone knows it. I will not numerate the reasons. But I hope it will not be so risky soon. The creators of the project https://www.menlo.one/ promise to make it easier.

I think the best coin worth buying in the top 50 is Ethereum and nothing else. Also, Menlo One seems to be a very promising project especially since it makes ICO investing safer and easier. I think its token sale has already launched and although I don't have the budget to buy tokens now, I'm definitely looking to invest in ICOs through Menlo.

Hey what do you think, is it risky to buy crypto currencies that are not top 100? I mean do you have a higher chance to lose your money or not?
well i would say yes. But doesnt mean you are safe by buying coin on top 100. For example look at bitconnect. If im not mistaken it were in top 50 and it turn out scam when market in bigger market correction. I do think its safer to invest in top 100 coin but you should look at what project they are doing. Just try invest in top 50 if you are not really good find information related to cryptocurrency.

yes i think, i said that because when you are investing or buying token or coins in the market just make sure you have a enough information about the project or the team behind the coin that you want to buy it, and to read how & what is the main purpose of the coin platform. by that, you have peace of mind and truly confident for what is the outcome in the near future.

I think not all of the top 100 at the cmc have the potential they have only the highs of supply and the amount of money they invest in ico but if only the investor wants to buy coins in the top 100 better first check their project before purchasing.

I think crypto investment is always risky even if it's in top 10, most people believe that investing in top 10 is safer, but I have to say that it never guarantee can get big profit.

I think its not that risky. Right now all the altcoins are at risk though but once it becomes the main stream then alot of altcoins will become very profitable so its time to collect as many altcoins as possible. Don't even look if they are in the top 100 or not but they will be worthy in the future..

All cryptocurrency is dangerous, but the author of this topic is correct when the altcoin outside the top 100 is more dangerous. But that also means they are making more profits, so many altcoin have done it and the example is the Nano coin.

I always advised to buy coins from top 50 list of crypto currencies of coinmarketcap as all those coins have highest liquidity and also huge peoples support. If you buy low ranked coins ,those coins have highest volatility and if market crash, you cannot find any buyer for them

In most cases this is risky, but there are also good projects that have not yet revealed themselves in full force. They need time and money and if you know about such projects, then it is in them that you must invest your money.

They may not be as good as we can make on other coins. We have a higher risk to lose our money with a coin that is not so reliable that you need to be careful. Being careful is the key of everything.

Yes, the risks are higher when investing in a coin not from the top 100 coinmarketcap, but it also higher a chance to multiply your investments. Therefore, everyone should individually decide on the amount of investment, which should be based on the assessment of many factors that can affect the final result of investment.

Ofcourse, you will have more risks when investing on some new coins in the list. But I think if you have a detail consideration and careful analysis about all benefits and good features, you may have chance to get huge benefits.
Especially you can choose the way to invest in the ICO - in the presale to have many good offers. But becareful in investing ICO because of cheating.
