The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

No sure answer yet, but everything that we know so far and what was heard through the grapevine, I am almost sure the cap will be around 100 million coins, with a very small yearly inflation or no inflation whatsoever.

This 100 million number should coincide with the POW to POS change.

Exciting times ahead!

What is the cost of the PoS? I thought the PoW cost gives Ethereum some support.

What you asking about POS? it means proof of stake which have no cost but we have to hold our coins into our wallet and that is it.

You realize ETC has planned forks too, right?

I would think at this point the idea of a chain forking for upgrades would be pretty normal. What are you trying to get at with your fud?

How to Gnosis - A quick guide on using the test (real ether) markets  Wink
https://medium.com/@aurynmacmillan/how-to-gnosis-ed1fef085014#.waw12gddf

  • The guys at Gnosis have created two new markets for us to play with in the lead up to their highly anticipated token launch. Given the Gnosis Dapp is still a very raw beta product, I thought I’d quick up a quite review on how it works.

Building a Lottery, Part 4  Wink
https://medium.com/@deviatefish/building-a-lottery-part-4-e2bafaa968fa#.3tm508g0c

  • The problem with building gambling games on public blockchains is that everyone can see everything. Just like I can see your complete history of transactions, you too can peer inside my contract and see what’s going on.
  • Even variables marked as “private” in Solidity aren’t really private — they’re just not publicly accessible to other contracts. If you have the right tools to inspect the internal state of a contract, what’s hidden there is still plain to see.

A mechanized safety proof for PoS with dynamic validators  Wink
https://medium.com/@pirapira/a-mechanized-safety-proof-for-pos-with-dynamic-validators-17e9b45faff4#.ste8jyjzh

  • I used a theorem prover Isabelle/HOL to check Vitalik’s post about a proof-of-stake protocol that uses dynamic validator sets. (If you haven’t seen, I did something similar for the simpler proof-of-stake protocol where the validator set is constant.) The proof script is available online.
  • One important property of the protocol is called accountable safety. The word accountable appears here because some validators are held accountable if forking blocks are finalized. By the time forking blocks are finalized, the protocol (Casper) would have forfeited deposits of certain validators. The rules are meant to make the validators careful about what they sign.

Speeding up ETH transactions  Wink
http://ethgasstation.info/blog1.html

  • As anyone who has tried to play blockjack on the mainnet will tell you, fast transaction confirmations make a huge difference for dapps. Now that this site has been up and running for a week of so, a couple of things are evident that suggest ways to speed up transaction confirmation times.
  • Currently, the median transaction confirmation time on the ETH network is about 38 seconds and 95% of transactions confirm within 105 seconds. Not too shabby, but also not really good enough for maximal enjoyment of blockjack.

Financial commentator Peter Schiff talks about Ethereum's growing popularity against Bitcoin [Link skips to 25:48; listen up to 35:00] - posted March 18, 2017  Wink
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVLx4SpOHIM#t=25m48s

Following the popularity of the new altcoin Ethereum and the recent price
hike showing a growing interest, Alphabay has made the decision to start
accepting Ethereum for marketplace listing purchases.

We are currently laying out the framework to make ETH acceptance possible,
and we will enable Ethereum deposits and withdrawals starting May 1st, 2017.
Vendors wishing to accept Ethereum can edit their listings and set the "Accept
ETH" to "On" in order to be able to be paid in Ethereum.

We have plenty of new stuff in the works, so expect more updates in the near

Trufffle We've moved our github repository!  Wink
http://truffleframework.com/blog/github-repository-moved

  • We recently released Truffle 3.0 in February to much fanfare. As part of that release we separated our codebase into multiple different modules to make integrating with Truffle easier. Those modules now live in the github repository http://github.com/trufflesuite, which hints at our broader mission of providing a comprehensive suite of tools for Ethereum development.

Vitalik Buterin On Governance And The Transition To Proof-of-Stake  Wink
https://www.ethnews.com/vitalik-buterin-on-governance-and-the-transition-to-proof-of-stake

  • A brief on Buterin’s views on how the Ethereum Foundation handles governance and a preliminary roadmap to Proof-of-Stake.
  • Ethereum’s transition from using a Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus algorithm to a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) protocol has been a long time coming—and will be a bit longer still. During a recent Ethereum core developer’s meeting, Vitalik Buterin discussed, among many things, his current thinking regarding the slow transition to a Proof-of-Stake system.
