Ethereum is the best for long term hold! At a time, I held ethereuk from price of $10 and  one and half years later, I was able to sell the same ether above $300! Ether as far as I am concern is the most valuable Altcoin  in cryptocurrency!

You can use a Ledger or TREZOR to access your MyEtherWallet, but ultimately it is not held directly on those devices. If the Ethereum network were to be hacked somehow, you'd be in trouble either way.
