RyoCurrency - Privacy without compromise

The fallout from Sumokoin's premine SNAFU and their rash decision to hard fork back to ASIC friendly Cryptonight algorithm resulted in a community backed effort to maintain the original intent of the project of improved privacy and to stay true to GPU miners with CN-Heavy.

At block height 137500 what is currently SUMO/RYO have transitioned into RYO and SUMO. Now they are running on a separate chains.

Digital Cash For Highly-Confidential Transactions

Private
Ryo is created with a high level of privacy in mind, setting Ring Confidential Transactions (RingCT) with minimum ringsize (mixin) of 12 to conceal sources/amounts transferred and make it high resistance to blockchain analysis.

ASIC-proof
The Ryo implements Cryptonight-Heavy ASIC Resistant algorythm. Ryo, as a fork from Monero which itself was initially based on the CryptoNote protocol, inherits all whitepapers and academic studies from CryptoNote and Monero Research Lab. Additionally, Ryo has pioneered technologies such as Cryptonight-Heavy, which have been used by numerous other Monero forks.

Untraceable
Ryo is untraceable; sending and receiving addresses are encrypted, transacted amounts are obfuscated by default. Transactions on the Ryo blockchain cannot be linked to a particular user or real-world identity.

Decentralized
Ryo follows Satoshi Nakamoto's vision of decentralized, trustless cryptocurrency, i.e. a secure digital cash operated by a network of users. Transactions are confirmed by distributed consensus, and then recorded on the blockchain immutably. Third-parties do not need to be trusted to keep your Ryo safe.

Fungible
Ryo is truly fungible, thanks to built-in privacy features. Just like cash, all Ryo are equal, changeable. It is extremely unlikely that coin will ever be blacklisted by any party due to its association in previous transactions

Anonymous
Ryo allows you to use a new ghost address for every transaction you receive. Never receive coins with the same address twice, reducing the chance of linking your transactions to your spending habbits.

WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST IN RYO

  • We have Roadmap that runs since 2017, and partially have already been completed succesfully. So we have a clear plan what to do, and what features to implement.
  • Responsible DEV team: both Fireice_uk, psychocrypt - are well known figures in crypto-world: creators of XMR-stak, former contributors to Monero coin project, that proved themselves by as top-grade specialists, that will result in the most technological asic-proof e-currency in near future.
  • We have active community: people are welcomed to ask their questions and the members of DEV team find time to support community across their tough schedule via various social media channels.

THE TEAM

Initially, the core team will consist of the following members: Fireice_uk and psychocrypt (the developers behind xmr_stak) will take leadership of all core programming on the daemon and command line wallet binaries. Mosu_forge will continue on the GUI wallet coding he started early in April. Certain team members will support the community and act as liaisons for the moment. As more projects are put on the roadmap, members of the community will be pulled into more roles,as well as new programmers will be added to the team.

  • Lead Programmers (C++ development, daemon): Fireice_uk, psychocrypt
  • Contributors: mosu_forge
  • PR Team: Soapy Fresh, Nostradamus411, Kesior, Allochtoon

Credit is due to the Monero Project. Without it Ryo would not be possible. Monero is a great project, but the Ryo Team believes we can create a more secure cryptocurrency by enabling higher mixins from the start and implementing features such as anonymous transaction broadcast and faster elliptic curve crypto that improves on our predecessor.

WALLETS

Ryo initial release to stay with CryptoNight Heavy and burn the pre-mined coins. We implemented replay protection to stop your money being stolen because others couldn't or wouldn't do it.

Cli wallet:

GUI wallet:
The Ryo GUI Wallet is a user friendly, easy to learn wallet that lets you store, send and receive Ryo. It is one of the most easy to use and intuitive wallets around. Available as a full-node version. Light-node version is coming soon.

GUI Wallet v0.1.0
The first release of the Ryo-currency GUI wallet is here. Includes new features such as dark theme, resizable windows, and testnet mode (advanced users only)
This release also includes the newest ryo daemon v0.1.0 "NOASIC" which includes replay protection, so you should update your GUI wallet from Sumokoin v0.0.4.
For now, just the Linux x64 and Windows x64 Zip builds are here. Soon we will release the Windows installer package and Mac binaries.
You will have to resync the blockchain from scratch as it saves in a new location. It should be possible to copy the blockchain from the sumo wallet over, but as soon as we pass the fork height, that won't be possible.
You should restore your wallet with your seed words and wait for the sync.

GUI Wallet v0.1.1
This release changes how the wallet determines when it is fully synced.
The previous release, v0.1.0, had a bug that did not allow sending of funds under certain conditions. An explanation of what happened is below:
The original Sumo GUI wallet gets the target_block (the highest block seen on the network) and the current block from the daemon. Only if they are equal does the GUI wallet unlock and allow transfers. Since the Ryo daemon is seeing Sumo nodes currently is sees a higher target_block then it will ever reach. In fact, Ryo will never sync those blocks from Sumo since they are invalid.
The problem lies in the assumption that the daemon must be synchronized to the target_block, however this is an incorrect assumption. In this new release, we check to see if the daemon reports that it is synchronized, regardless of the top block candidate. This is how the CLI wallet works, and it is okay to use wallet functionality as soon as the daemon reports "You are now synchronized with the network." Note: this was an underlying bug in the Sumo GUI wallet which would have appeared with the Sumo network if another coin had hard forked them.
For now, the percentage of the blockchain is disabled, since that would always report 99% even if you are fully synchronized, and will instead only show the current block your daemon has synced. To see how much of the blockchain you've downloaded, compare this number to the current block from a Ryo pool or the block explorer.

GUI Wallet v0.1.2
  • Removed unnecessary password requirements. Now all ASCII characters are valid, including spaces.
  • Option to use no password at all, upon opening password prompt will still show, but will not show when making transactions or viewing private keys
  • Added pop blocks button in settings tab, default 1,000 blocks

Other future wallet implementations:
  • - Multi-Signature Wallet Implementation
  • - Micro-Payment Channel Feasibility Study
  • - Web/Online Wallet
  • - XMR-Stak GUI Interface
  • - Bulletproof Implementation
  • - Mobile Wallets for Android & iOS Devices
  • - Micro-Payment Channel Implementation

MINING POOLS and BLOCKCHAIN EXPLORER

We have ddos-protected official mining pool, and more pools are going to be added in nearest future.

IMPORTANT:
Sync one at a time, not two at the same time. Here's a short faq:

1.If you are new, and don't have any Ryo, download and create new wallet, Write down your seedwords for the future (don't loose them, paste them anywhere public or you're out of luck), Synchronize.
2.If you have existing Sumo, download Ryo wallet and using your Sumo Seed words restore the wallet.
3.Have patience, the last blocks take time due to network load.

If you need more privacy:
1. Create another Ryo wallet (Don't forget the old seed words!, Write down the new Words too!)
2. Send all Ryo coins from first wallet - to second wallet, enjoy hodling!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 04.2018 - Very soon after the fork, RYO began trading at TradeOgre
June 05.2018 - GUI Wallet v0.1.1 released
June 07.2018 - 📈 We were listed at Coinlib
June 07.2018 - 📈 Trading started at Altex
June 08.2018 - Wallets 0.1.2 are available (added checkpoints to secure and more stable syncing the network (test and mainnet) +removed old testnet nodes)
June 09.2018 - RyoCurrency has requested all exchange listings to enter Maintenance mode for a few weeks while the Core Dev team works to move us onto a **secure and validated codebase** after the recent attacks. Nothing is more important to the $RYO project than a secure foundation. @Ryocurrency_official

What is the relationship between RyoCurrency and Sumokoin, and why is there no mention of Sumokoin in the OP?
On The RyoCurrency website it is still referring to the SUMO coin under exchanges.

Sumokoin and RYO are different.  Sumokoin is NOT rebranding to RYO any longer, Sumokoin will hard forking at block height #137500 off of the existing network and away from CN-Heavy to return to ASIC friendly CN.

The network known as Sumokoin will become the RYO network at block height# 137500, as RYO is staying on CN-Heavy.  We will soon be releasing an updated wallet with added replay protection (starting at block height #137510) for our community, so best bet is to not be making any moves in that ~40 min window before we get to active replay protection.

So this is an asic friendly coin huh? I would like to know why did the team make that decision because I'm curious if its fair or not for new adopters. Besides I don't know if newcomers can get their hands to asic hardware.

No, no...that would be Sumokoin : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1905086.0

You'll have to ask of in that thread why the move back to ASICs.

RYO is staying on Cryptonight-Heavy, ASIC resistance is the game!

Yup, came here to ask the same. What's going to happen to the premine?

I don't think you need to get rid of all of it, but I think it's a bit high at the moment.

I liked it in your coin. "Rio is not tracked, sending and receiving addresses are encrypted, transaction amounts are defaulted by default. Transactions on the Ryo block chain can not be associated with a particular user or real identity." But, as often happens - there is not enough information, about developers, design and other things, what these projects usually wrap.

I don't really know the story about Sumokoin and fireice, but if they will come back to the original CN, I will switch to RYO if fireice and psychocrypt are really involved in this "new" coin.

Does that mean that this will be a fork like the BTC and BCH one?

If I hold Sumokoin, will I get an equal amount of RYO?

Are you planning to burn sumos premine? Or this will be donation to sumokoin devs?
The pre-mined coins have been frozen/burned in commit [c3a3cb6] as announced on reddit

I don't really know the story about Sumokoin and fireice, but if they will come back to the original CN, I will switch to RYO if fireice and psychocrypt are really involved in this "new" coin.
Ryo stays cryptonote-heavy and asic-proof. Fireice_uk and psychocrypt are really involved in this coin as you may see in ANN text.
