Yes you can buy and sell XCP on the built in exchange without any fear of trust issues. I would recommend this to any new XCP user: install the full Counterparty client (which requires the full bitcoin blockchain). It may take time to synchronise but you won't need to rely on escrow or risk your BTC. |

I'm an XCP burner and I don't agree with that. There are more than 1000+ early adopters, good luck with forming a cartel. Let's wait for a proper market to be established wand we'll see clearer. Personally I don't think there will ever be an XCP cartel at all. But you're right, buyers should be warned. |
