Interesting to see so much supply on the block scanner.  ~11000 XCP for sale, against ~300 on the bid.  Both camps are greedy.

Less than half percent for sale is not much at all, especially since I think a large chunk is from one guy.

We need to get more publicity to bring in more buyers.

A trade platform as btc-e is helpful for publicity. Maybe someone can build this like dgex.com for NXT and masterxchange.com for MSC.

We really need a trade platform, makes it easy for every one to buy sell (without the hassle of PMing buyer/sellers on this thread or installing the software and figuring out command line options).

Maybe you should contact the masterxchange guys and see if they will add XCP.
I hope the XCP holders can build the trade platform.

I think buyers have not installed counterpartyd yet, and can only buy here via PM. Low offers will immediately be bought by ppl who already have XCP.

Please, if you want to buy XCP, do it the right way, via the DEX (put a bid on the blockchain) At least you'll buy something you can use.

I assume if as many bugs as possible are worked out in the next couple weeks and the GUI launches successfully, a centralized exchange wouldn't be too necessary.  What better way to advertise XCP than having people purchase it on the world's first decentralized exchange?  Still, I agree that many people are wary of anything new and until the software is smooth as butter, a centralized exchange wouldn't be a terrible idea.  NXT would have never pumped as high as it did in the early days without dgex.com, not with that buggy ass client.  Even if the devs bust ass and do everything they can to make the GUI launch as smooth as possible, they are human, and finding all the bugs in just a few weeks isn't possible.  If the software is even 10% as buggy as NXT's was, some investors will be deterred.

only buy here via PM.

Not true (anymore.)

As of moments ago, I am a non-burner (maybe the first?) to put a bid for XCP on the DEX.

As a test, I'm bidding for 76 XCP, on exchange @ just above 0.0013.  I believe that will be the best bid, on exchange.

Now somebody fill me, so I can issue the first REAL FREAKING asset for trade.  I plan on issuing the first physical precious metals buy-write VETF.  I've got a plan to build trust without a reputation.

I see your order. It might not get filled so fast since your bid is not very high. But who knows, that's free market !

As soon as I get my client running, I'll happily sell you 1XCP at that bargain price.

How do I run DEX ?

You don't run a Distributed Exchange. You just issue an order on the blockchain via conterpartyd

It's quite technical, command line based, and involve reindexing the complete bitcoin blockchain before doing anything, that's why that's why most just wait for a GUI to be released around mid February, or buy via PM/spreadsheet

EDIT: indeed, it's not that technical but it'll be a turnoff for most noobs. That's being said, being able to create that type of transaction in the blockchain is quite exciting !

it is not that technical, just follow the directions (which could be documented better).  Not any harder than using a VCR...
