Look at Kompany at Bayern. After losing the title to Leverkusen many boards will consider sacking him, but they stuck to him and allowed him to grow his team, if that was Madrid, he will already be out the door.

I do not want Fabregas to move to a top club soon, maybe one more season at Como and then a well thought out move up.

That was Tuchel - Bayern not Kompany - Bayern side. It's been upwards since Kompany came in, and downside for Bayer since Alonso left ( sure, he's somewhere crying his eyes out now)

There's a early termination clause of €15m - I think sacking him this season would be considered " early" to trigger the clause in his contract and that's exactly what the Liverpool brass are trying to avoid. They honestly want it to work, hence the backing.

Chelsea and Manchester United are used to paying compensations, Liverpool are not  I'd take anything but Liam right now.

I dont really know how Arne Slot is gonna hold his position as head coach/manager of Liverpool i mean is by far one of the worst season of the club in a while and after spending a ton of money in players which clearly wasnt at the height of the club and the circunstances, is sad because he manage to lift the Premier League last year but right now i can only see him sacked after the season ends.

Coming in and even reading slightly older posts does make me wonder how it works in football sometimes.

For example, Real Madrid appointing Arbeloa and now doing even worse than they were previously under Alonso.

With Liverpool it was different I guess, they wanted a different person, noone could replace Klopp, and Slot seemed the right choice, until now. It was just terrible to break your piggy bank to get this team. Hoping you guys do well in Champions League, set up a nice Barca-Liverpool final? Who knows

Slot did a wonderfull job the past season, it was a complete diferent Liverpool compared to the Klopps one, it was super defensive and sometimes awfull to watch but it worked, but in this season and after having all the money in his hand to spend it turned out to be a complete fiasco. Is more normal than we think, we saw this happening all across the world.

Football and sports in general are not a exact science is not 1+1=2, is a super complicated social and skills maths.

I feel like he do a "Simeone change" i mean i saw this happening on Atletico Madrid which was a super solid defensive team but if they want to win more they need to be more offensive and Simeone tried for several years to change that but that ended up not so good, Atletico becomes much more weaker on the defensive side and not so prolific in the offensive one, and i think Slot tried the same, he wants to win the Champions League and knows with the past aproach that was not gonna happen and when he change all start to fail.

Last season we still had the Klopp momentum, the last drops of world class coaching was still sprinkled on the squad.

Why though? West Ham, in 18th place, are just five points behind. If we assume Arsenal doesn't pull off their biggest flop of the season and still wins their game against Tottenham, and West Ham has a lucky home win against Bournemouth, then Tottenham's gap to relegation will be reduced to two points. This is a distance where everything can turn upside down in literally one round - I'd call it a fight for survival. But of course, there was more irony in my first comment.

The longer Slot has been with this squad, the worse it’s got. He’s an awful coach and it’s becoming obvious now.

Even Slot also admitted that the legacy given by Klopp was so good that he dared to do a season of not even transferring players when he started coaching Liverpool as a replacement for Klopp.

But this season looks different even though if you look at the list of clubs that are loyal in spending on players this season they are the club with the largest expenditure on player transfers with 252 million followed by Chelsea with 240 million but with such large expenditures these two clubs actually compete for position 5th not participating in the race for the trophy.

Next season it looks like Liverpool need an overhaul from the start in terms of coaching management first before players.

Damn I did just read that Tottenham could be heading for their first relegation in 49 years! I also checked the odds on who will be relegated and the odds right now is like this:

Tottenham: 2.37

West ham: 2.62

Nottm Forest: 5.5

Leeds: 5.5

And the odds on Not to be Relegated:

Leeds: 1.14

Nottm Forest: 1.14

West ham: 1.44

Tottenham: 1.53

This will be exciting but I have a feeling that Tottenham will barely manage to survive this season and not get relegated😁

There's some internal surprise to see Tottenham as favourites for the relegation, isn't there? 
I'm also wondering if these odds are fair. After all, Tottenham is a big brand, and the cash flow for their relegation isn't that big because people simply can't imagine it. If you look at the results, it’s a steep decline - 13 games without a win: 8 losses and 5 draws. Not the best statistics in the final stages of the season.

Heh, yeah, the way they've been playing across all competitions really is just a huge letdown. They tried their thing and it worked for a long time, but now that they need to play proper football they've forgotten. People have said (I don't agree) that the Leicester side who won all those years ago was the weakest, but this, objectively, has to be one of the worst, if not the worst in Prem history (again, like you say, should they actually win).

Because if they do lift the title, it would be because City, Liverpool have been miles worse. At least this season has some drama left!

I hate to see us lose, but for the first time, I won't say anything negative about Laim if he loses to Manchester City to assist them win the title over our noisy London Red side. I could deal with us not playing in the Champions League next season, but I'm not sure what I'd do if Arsenal won the league.

Ah feel for you bro, but don't worry, relegate or not, this is when you see the true fans. And I think if you go to Championship it shouldn't be difficult to gain direct promotions.

I guess you are right,,, we are just one of the last 6 original founding members of Premier League but Arsenal bottling everything within a few weeks would be even bigger.

In the old days Arsenal and Tottenham are mortal enemies,,, but seems nobody really give this rivalry a big shout anymore.
