It is a difficult season to predict. If United strengthens a bit at the back - I see no reason why they wouldn't be considered as contenders.

Maybe because every single season after Ferguson departure they failed to the given expectation for them?

I mean we are like 15 years far from that point and since then Manchester United never meet the expectation the only time they were close to do it was with Muorinho. After it all were tries which ended up all in the same way, dropping points and dropping positions and no fix found at time and another season in the bin.

A genius with the wrong apparatus would yield nothing; we literally have 3 liabilities in every position and all on a long contract. I can't pinpoint our weakness, cause we're literally weak in every position.

The EPL would be crazy if both Manchester United and Chelsea fight for the title so how about it @igebotz, 1mbtc by the end of the season to whoever finish higher on the league? I mean between Chelski and United, you have it way easier since your team wont be playing in UCL  alot of time to rest for your old  new players

Well, it must be a weird day for me to actually agree with LFC_Bitcoin's preference for Superbru for at least 1 pool. Just what a day/week it was just trying to tick routine stuff off my list and realising I could really do with just not having another World Cup forum schedule.

On that note... just wanted to say that the EPL thing I was hoping to do looks like is dead and buried. No sponsor, after all, and I hate that josue would have to work for free again to do a new format haha.

Let's see if this pool gets something, one nice familiar Superbru pool would be something pleasant to have after all.

That is one of the main problems in all of this, from outside it all looks easy and in some part it is but when you start to have changing schedules and games which are postponed plus other matters it start to be a little bit tricky for the organizer since maybe it was not in the rules from the very start and you ahve to addapt on the fly and some users maybe dislike it or think you are trying to favour someone when is nothing like that.

Hahahah it could be an more since in the Premier League sometimes the ref allow the players to play it very hard and hit the other players without any sanction. And behind that some teams could be a complete butcher like Manchester United was in some games.

Anyways i hope to see Manchester United again being one of the top contenders is one of the msot classic and best teams in the whole league so we need them to keep the fun there.

They'd have to bring back "Barclay premier League ' before we see Chelsea and Manutd competing again - I missed those days.

Good for you; I wish I had skipped Chelsea's preseason games so that I could enter the season with no idea what to expect, but now that I know, I'm already bored.

I can't think of what to make of any of the preseason games I've seen; nothing different from what I've seen the last 5 years. Just hanging on to the hope that some of our players are still on vacation..

cryptofrka, I haven’t watched a single game in our pre season tour. First time for me too, the fact they were on so late made me not bother. Also most of the real first XI barely played due to returning late after the World Cup.

Not impressed with our lack of action in the transfer market. We need major squad surgery and we’ve only signed one player. Won’t be a great season if we sit on our hands and do nothing.

I will be happy to join the pool for this season. Not going to join foreign league ones but I am in board room talks with an established member to put a team of 3 together for cro2 CL competition at the moment

I looked at his other predictions, and you know, he mostly talks about Arsenal/City/Liverpool's title chances, while he's more likely to predict a top-four finish for United. Obviously, everyone's biased, but I didn't see anything particularly special in his thoughts (regarding the upcoming season). Arsenal are a meme club, I don't believe they'll repeat their success. If we leave them out, everyone else's chances really do look equal. Why, given these circumstances, can't he choose United or Chelsea?

I was happy for Arsenal fans last season after they have waited for EPL title forso long, but this year, I hardly can see them defending title, though, bookmakers think different. Maybe City, maybe Liverpool, I also see Chelsea capable to fight. But MU, I only see them fighting for CL spots. But maybe this prediction is only based on their poor results in recent years.

You're not staying in the CL beyond the group phase so why are you worried? You're bookies favourite to finish in top4

It's a strange situation - everyone doubts "their" club + the current champion, but at the same time, an allergy begins when United is mentioned as a potential contender  Years have passed, but the former dominant is still not loved

By the way, it might make sense to bet on Arsenal not becoming champions (the odds are 1.5 at the moment) in order to take profit after the 3rd round - there is a high probability that after the games with Coventry, Aston Villa and Chelsea their chances will fall.

I stopped following academy maybe 5 years or more ago, don't remember now. The last pre-season I followed was when Shaqiri seemed to have an hour to complete an overhead kick to beat United. That's what my memory says, not sure if that's actually what happened.

Last season I probably watched <half of our league games from start to end. I'm really not sure anymore what's going on with me.

Araujo is a strange one, he has been captain at Barca but fell out of favour with Flick. He is fast and aggressive so maybe the PL suits him. It’s another body at the back so I am OK with it. It gives Jacquet time to adapt and Leoni time to recover from the bad injury he had. I am not even counting Gomez at this stage, just totally unreliable.

Seems we want Barcola and Mbaye from PSG, would certainly give us pace and unpredictability out wide which we didn’t have last season.

If we sign those two I think we will start selling players to balance the books. Elliot, Ramsay, Endo, maybe even Gakpo.

He's also injured more often than not - so I doubt he's the guy we need.
We sure as hell need a starting CB, and we need one before the start of the season.

Most people? The odds was always supporting the final position you got top 4 was always low odds right? Now if Spurs makes top 4 it will be truly most people not expecting it The odds speak for itself

Let's hope Carrick doesn't screw this up because normally a coach at a big English club always looks successful when it comes to being a replacement coach with legacy players in it but it will feel different when he is told to start over with the new players he wants. This has happened to the Slot last season and hopefully Carrick undergo different things with the Slot this season.

For Chelsea they again burned their money but interestingly now Mudryk is back after finishing his sentence

I loved him, but I can't help but hate watch Manchester City this season and hoping he gets fired along the road.

That can only happen if Enzo doesn't do his job well. But if he is able to balance the rhythm in transitional conditions now it seems that Manchester City will not do this quickly especially with the characteristics of Manchester City who have always kept the coach long enough for the previous 3 coaches (Pep 10 seasons, Pellegrini 3 seasons, Mancini 3 seasons) then as long as Enzo does his job well he will last a long time at Manchester City.
