So this thread is about a bunch of Bitcoin old timers who have got stuck with thousands of BTC in Gox trying to unload the coins on someone else in Gox that is willing to bear the risk???

So old time coiners trying to dupe new blood into taking on their dead coin balance in Bitcoin, did i get that right?

This thread somehow is creepy to me.

I'm no old timer, but certainly no noob, and I've made use of this thread to trade some of my relatively minor holdings on gox. There seems to be people willing to take on the risk at gox, which is great for those of us that just want out. What does it matter that they have many on there? This is free trade- there are no dupes I've seen so far. I was a dupe for leaving coin on Gox though.

This thread somehow is creepy to me.

I think it's the opposite:
"Old timers" knew for months to stay clear of MtGox.
"New blood" is probably easier to impress and to set in panic. It's them selling cheap GoxCoins to the smart veterans
/runs for cover

Ente

its basically pretty simple

its all about risk and return and therefore the proper risk management

depending on one's overall risk exposure and one's overall financial situation one can have very different amounts of btc on gox.
so basically even if you have a somehow positive expectation about gox it could be wise to sell some coins just to tamper your risk exposure.

i think this market is a perfect example of risk diversification on many shoulders and thats a great thing!

USD stuck in gox currently worth ~75% over parity:

1) use cash stuck in gox to buy BTC at 241
2) sell goxcoin for BTC @ ~0.7 (or maybe more) at bitcoinbuilder.com. Despite what people are offering here, that exchange memorializes actual meaningful trade data: https://www.bitcoinbuilder.com/trades.php
(note: unless people aren't getting BTC-builder withdrawals...)
3) sell coins at coinbase for 605

$100 gox dollars = 0.41 gox coins
trade at 0.72 (less 0.02 fee) = 0.29 real coins
= sell in coinbase for $173.82 (even factoring in CB's 1% fee and 15 cent checking transfer here)

So at the very least, peeps can get USD out of gox this way. Now, if there's a way to currently get USD into gox would actually be very interesting...

Given the current btc-e/gox spread, I'm currently willing to buy goxBTC for 60-65% realBTC depending on the amount.

I have completed realBTC <-> goxBTC deals with 21 members from this forum: gabbynot, rpietila, bimmerhead, micucci1127, OldHacker, jackmccauley, kwilliams, bigtimespagghetti, iguru42, Ashaman, TheOrri, scottvandinter, zyk, OgNasty, cryp2wizz, Bitsinmyead, johnbr, catcow, satriani, sonba, EPiSKiNG.

The market is very volatile so things can of course change.

PM me to discuss more.

Just FYI, I had a very smooth transaction with daburone.  Loads of BTC traded.  He sent first (but hey, look at my feedback, can't blame him).

I'm sure I just made him a fortune, and he made me one too, so I guess we're even. Smiley

Thanks!

Kind of risky on behalf of the buyer of the Gox, given the seller can immediately sell at nearly triple the price.

although Gox is now pumping!

It did that earlier, went up to 300 from 220, but back down again quickly

Yes, I'd love to get cash into gox but I'm pretty sure I'll end up being fiat goxxed by the time it gets there!

I wonder if anyone here has actually taken this gamble.

I'm back in the mtgox hunt.  I'm willing to buy for 15% OVER current mtgox bitcoin value with fiat.  Prefer somebody in the Midwest US and do a face to face transaction.

I'm also willing to do PayPal (see this username on ebay) + escrow.

Willing to drive up to 800 mile radius of OKC Ok.

Can I deposit USD via OKpay, is that instant? If that works, you can just deposit funds to mtgox. and buy mtgoxcoin. current spead is $625(bitstamp)--$252. 1 real btc=2.5 goxbtc. why people still want to give 70% to buy mtgoxcoin? That make no sense to me. But hi, everyone has different investment stradgies.
This works, I sold btc on btc-e, cashed out to OKPAY and then made a deposit to mtgox. Neither cashout at btc-e nor deposit at mtgox is instant so it could take anywhere from a few hours to several days. I did a test withdraw with 1k and had the money in exactly 24 hours. Currently waiting for 20k deposit, been waiting all day. Fingers crossed, there are some risk doing this, you don't know where the price is going in the meantime, and if you're unlucky it can take days. This hassle and risk may justify an extra 20-30% for some, I would argue that there is some risk receiving goxBTC as well since it's technically possible for those to be charged back by mtgox at later stage.

I certainly prefer the btc-e -> okpay -> mtgox route, but I don't dare do any large transfers since I may end up getting stuck.

do you have an option to deposit via okpay? I don't see that option on funding option. what's the problem?

I have PROBLEM?

I have over 38 GoxBTC I bought and I just received this email from Josh Jones josh@newdream.net

Hi there,

I really really apologize for "springing" this on you, but Bitcoin Builder has taken off just today in a way I hadn't really anticipated when I launched it on Tuesday, and as such, I got some legal advice on regulatory compliance and it's recommended that I get identifying information before processing withdrawals over a certain size.

Fortunately, all I need from you in order to process your withdrawal is:

1. Your country of citizenship.
1A. If the US, your SSN. (or if you have a US. Taxpayer ID #, that)
2. Your birthday.
3. A scan of a government-issued photo ID....

The bitcoinbuilder.com site is new to me and I noticed the site lists mailto: josh[at]bitcoinbuilder.com , not josh[at]newdream.net as written above.  Why are the domains different?
Edited to add:  I just read his linkedin profile and see he was co-founder of New Dream, so this must explain it.

I'm also willing to do PayPal (see this username on ebay) + escrow.

From what I read on another forum, Paypal is reversible and they don't like cryptocurrency in the acceptable use terms, or whatever the agreement is called.   If I were you, I'd choose a non-reversible payment method.
