There are possibilities that ETH could surpass BTC but it would take time not only for 2-3 years maybe after 5-10 years because there's a lot of new people still new to crypto and they only knew that BTC is the King but once all of them know that fundamentals of ETH for sure that's the time for ETH to become the King.

Well it is unlikely in my opinion especially considering how bad the current market is. You should also clear up your question a bit( do you mean on a dollar value/ or based on market cap). Either ways i personally dont see it happening anytime soon |

Any cryptocurrency may exceed Bitcoin, provided that these cryptocurrencies can be used as a payment method in life, and a large number of merchants recognize its value! Then this coin is likely to surpass Bitcoin!

That's why they created alts, the main goal is to create coins more suitable for payments process than bitcoin, the only matters is how they can surpassed the popularity of bitcoin, maybe if people will begin to be interested with crypto real usage then it can passed bitcoin but as of now not even ETH which second in terms of popularity can surpassed bitcoin in that short period of time. |

I think in 2019 Bitcoin still who lead the market, Bitcoin the price is very high so it is very difficult for Ethereum to beat Bitcoin I think Ethereum will still be at number two after Bitcoin.

Ethereum passing bitcoin by 2019? Simple answer is it won't happen. Ethereum has more coins than bitcoin and it's market cap is lower than it. The price of bitcoin is higher than the rest and it's supply is lower than ETH so don't think again that there will be time ETH will surpass bitcoin. True, the reason ethereum is so valuable is because of the many icos appearing on its platform that made to create your own ico easier, but now there are many coins competing with ethereum and this means many coins will now appear in those platforms so the growth of ethereum is going to be slower while bitcoin in the other hand does not depend at all of other coins. Smart contracts did emerge the past years but we don't know if it will still dominant for the upcoming years as there's some hint that Vitalik is showing. With a lot of talking about the passing of Ethereum, this discussion is a never ending debate in the forum. |

I think in the year of 2019 bitcoin is still number 1 or the king of all coins I think in the year of 2020 or 2021 bitcoin will be second and finally ethereum will be the number 1 or it replace bitcoin. But we don't know what the really exact year of the bitcoin turn to second.

There have been many altcoins wanted to surpass bitcoin as the top coin. Until now, btc is still the best and lead of all crypto. Yes ethereum still serve as the next coin to bitcoin so I can't see this will happen that eth pass btc. |

Bitcoin price is so high that it is very hard to beat in the near future I think 2019 Bitcoin will remain a market leader, Ethereum still has to work very hard and takes a very long time if ETH wants to beat BTC.

No, in matter of price ETH cannot cross BTC.
ETH is meant for smart contracts and dAPP building, and not as a currency.So expect for paying for the smart contracts,I don't think there is going to be much demand for ETH.
But LTC might pass BTC.

Ethereum will never match bitcoin's market cap or its market price not even next year or the coming decades or century. Let's not forget how bitcoin dominates the cryptoworld for a couple of years now and no other crypto took that away from bitcoin. Not even a closer chance because Bitcoin is considered to be the king of all cryptos already by just looking how big its market cap is.

This is likely to happen when ETH is considered to be more potential than BTC. But at present ETH's market cap is only half that of BTC, it is at least 3 years to overtake BTC. So if you trust ETH, invest and hold ETH as long as possible. This will help you make a big profit when ETH surpasses BTC.

in 2019 I think Bitcoin remains a market leader, Bitcoin prices are very high so very difficult to beat in my opinion Ethereum can surpass Bitcoin 5-10 years ahead or even more than that.

It is impossible to cross the Bitcoin because the market situation very bearish and Ethereum is struggling to the cross the 500$ mark. Even there are many rumours circulating but the chances of crossing the Bitcoin is very less, i think Bitcoin is most dominant current in the next years.

If it's my opinion, Ethereum will not surprise Bitcoin because it's worse when it comes to scaling. Currently, the entire history of Ethereum transactions is much greater than Bitcoin which causes many problems. This scenario is also used in Ethereum technology and Bitcoin adoption is also slowly increasing in the market. Both are good platforms but the top ranking is managed by Bitcoin at the moment.

It's not hard job, but I think BTC have more fan, and BTC is more popular then eth, I think ETH can be TOP 1 coin, but only 5_6 day, because ETH is great for exchange in tokens I do not believe in it. Bitcoin has the whole army of supporters, and it remains the most popular cryptocurrency for now. Do not think that the situation will drastically change in 2019. It will stay the King. |

In 2019 it's too early, I guess that if yes, so in the end of the year it will happen. But it's very optimistic, more real is 2020.
One single year is not going to make a huge difference, bitcoin is still the best cryptocurrency by far and if ethereum or any other coin wants to surpass it in just two years those coins will have to got through an incredible development and I just do not see it especially when the coin that is being updated and it is making breakthroughs is bitcoin. |

Ethereum is one of the altcoin to be highly appreciated by professionals, it has great potential. Ethereum has advanced blockchain technology, which is used by most ICOs projects as a platform. As compared to Bitcoin, Ethereum has faster transaction speeds, lower transaction costs, and cheaper prices. I believe in future Ethereum will overcome Bitcoin. But I think Ethereum will need more than a year, because Bitcoin is still the king of the market, it is still very strong. |
