Hello everyone,

I just registered but of course I am a long-time cryptocurrency watcher.

What I do not understand is why most people are so pessimistic and talk about "these hard times for *coin".

If you look at the growth chart from the beginning of cryptocurrency, you will realize that even now, the Bitcoin is a bit over-valued. It is not "in the red" by any stretch. What was in the last few months was a bubble, an anomaly which may have been exploited only by the very few, just like in the real currency or valuable asset world.

You want a cryptocurrency to be stable, just like the real currencies. Only then will it be trusted and invested in by the big players. Any asset in which you make money like winning the lottery every day is bound to crash.

In my opinion the Bitcoin is just now approaching a "healthy" status. Making money from Bitcoin will be just as hard as making money from real currency trading.

For more money, just you just have to work...Smiley

What I do not understand is why most people are so pessimistic and talk about "these hard times for *coin".
there are two types of people who are "spreading" the pessimism. (we have more types with pessimism but they keep it to themselves).
1. the newbies who thought they were about to become a millionaire because they invested something like $100 in bitcoin
2. those idiot traders who think if they attack bitcoin now the price can go lower so they can make a bigger profit in their short trades.

Quote
...that even now, the Bitcoin is a bit over-valued.
I disagree. bitcoin is undervalued by a lot. it at least needs to go up another $3000 to get where its real value is. this price is the product of a "push-down" not a correction anymore. yes there was a bubble, then there was a correction but that was months ago.

Quote
You want a cryptocurrency to be stable, just like the real currencies. Only then will it be trusted and invested in by the big players.
being stable or not has nothing to do with investors "trusting" it!!!
they trust bitcoin because of its transparency and security and also its being permissionless.
and we don't want any "big player" to come in. we want people to have the option to be able to use a decentralized currency not some "big player" millionaire to buy it and play around with its price!

Quote
Any asset in which you make money like winning the lottery every day is bound to crash.
that is irrelevant to bitcoin.

if by that you mean price will be more stable and won't have wild swings then you are wrong. we are very far away from that day. we WILL continue to see big rises, bubbles, big bubbles, corrections, crashes and big crashing dumps.
.... the rollercoaster continues.

With the little experience I have in Cryptocurrency, I have come to realize that there the pessimist and optimist, the difference is that optimistic are those who are visioner, they are Holders, they don't panic sell, while the pessimist are the opposite.

The problem we are having right now is that a lot of newbies came into the market this year during the bull. They all wanted to get in on the action with no one wanting to miss out but the thing is they all got thing without a proper understanding of the crypto market. They are the people that are panicking right now because they are watching the values of their coins plummet thinking that the prices will never recover

The people who actually have pessimistic thoughts about crypto currency, they hardly know about crypto currency in detail. They just invested in it without having proper knowledge about it and panicking as the price is falling. But, this is the nature of crypto currency and people should invest in it having the concept of long term investment.

I think most people from last year was used to a price that has gone up and now it is just the opposite. It must get to you, if you are one of those people who bought at the higher end of the price and now the price keep on dropping. We have seen this before and we have also seen the shills and trolls capitalizing on the current drop in the price, to come crawling out of the shadows to feed the flames.  Grin

I ignore these idiots and just sit back and enjoy the show.  Cool   <Oh, and I buy their cheap coins>

I cant understand either. Looking at the growth of btc we're still in a very nice position. Ppl complain about this bear market, but in january 2015 we were around 250 dolars, now (at the time of this post) we're at like 5980 dolars. Its a x20 growth. Many ppl went fomo when this got to 16k and lost and many others became negative and pessimit about it i think

I understand the pessimism, allow me to explain it to you. Bitcoin was at $19k+ and now it is at $6k-.

Merchant adoption for Bitcoin is actually decreasing and not increasing. Less and less people are using bitcoin for what it was intended to be used for. Most people don't even use their bitcoin as payment, they just hoard it.

First of all, welcome to the community!

Pessimism comes from people that believe they will be rich in one night. I have noticed that these people are mostly the ones that got involved in the cryptoworld after seeing this great rise of bitcoin price at the end of 2017 (known as FOMOS). They didn't read anything about blockchain technologies and cryptos and simple opened accounts in Coinbase and bought cryptos. Now that they see the prices falling they are speading bad words because they simply do not believe in the decentralization idea. They are opportunists that they wanted to join the Bitcoin Wave and get some advantages of that.

If Bitcoins went from $1000 from January 2017 and it is currently trading at $6000 at this moment i really don't see why people are going on about the hard times for the crypto currency though the value has gone down, I think it's still okay.

Hi there,

People are interested in gaining financial freedom. This is one of the most important things in a persons life and yes cryptocurrency would give this to them. With this in mind more people invested in cryptocurrency during June 2017 bullrun. Then we have experienced the institutional money entering crypto after that bull run. After the good accumulation zone we have seen the biggest bull run ever starting November 2017. Bitcoin was on the news all around the world to attract more people. People jumped in blindly through the top with hope and most of them are burned. And we have the FUD going on all around via media. This is an attempt to lower the prices more to buy cheap bitcoins. Everyday bitcoin is making new lows for 2018 although most people were expecting the bull run to commence. This might have effect how people feel or think unless they are early adopters.

As a conclusion, this is a period where prices go down on a continuous base which affects people but, we will see many bull runs in the future.

Keep it positive!
Kind regards,

franky1

I disagree. bitcoin is undervalued by a lot. it at least needs to go up another $3000 to get where its real value is. this price is the product of a "push-down" not a correction anymore. yes there was a bubble, then there was a correction but that was months ago.

octobr-march seen a SPECULATIVE bubble layer on the price, which has corrected down.

the october-march UNDERLAYING VALUE was 6-9k due to the mining costs of such upholding that.. but now there is a new batch of miners that are cheaper which has brought the average cost per btc down. although the hashrate has risen since march to mitigate some of that underlaying value dip the underlaying value is still lower than the 9k top.

so i agree with the OP we are near the healthy new underlaying value. and now just have to wait for the hashrate and difficulty movements to push the underlying costs up to then move the support lines up to move the price up.

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

you are right, many newcomers who know bitcoin directly enter the crypto world and start trading without understanding first the same market conditions.
most people who are tempted to benefit very much without understanding the state of the market first. they even have a reckless lend the same capital of the bank and buy coin at the time the coin is up, they hope the coin can go up aims to get a very big profit, then at maturity payment and the money is not there because it has become the goods in the form of altcoin, then would not want him to sell the coin at the time of the coin price down. they are very big loss and they certainly think negative about crypto.
but this is their own fault with the market situation is not as stable as this and they panic sell fear if market conditions can not recover again.

Well I agree. Once you have entered this Crypto market, there is no need to be scared of everything. One should just have faith in their coin and go ahead with the strategy of buying or selling. In the first place only, choose coins that are meant to grow, like PRG, ICX etc.

Yes, people should not be pessimistic. It is an unpredictable world and all investors should be very careful with their choice of coins. They should for example right now, go for TAU, ADA, QSP which shall rise for sure because of their excellent performance.

It is the case and also investors might be now little pessimistic as everyone patience level cannot be same. Its also 6 months time where the expected result is not achieved and market has just fallen mostly. So chance of earning has become more slimmer for people.

pessimist are the short traders. Cause they want to make money in short period. When the market falls they got panicked and spread rumors. The others who know the market well. They believe in HODL and don't spread rumors.

I'm with you my friend. Bitcoin is way to overvalued. Cmon, 6000$ for coin which should be max 1000$ at such early state. It's FOMO made it to 19K, nothing more.

Also at this forum, I saw a lot of newbie here that are so many question about what happen next.  All of us doesn't know on what happen next so why they always ask about that?  Some thread getting shit and spam because of the newbies coming that spam the forum that can cause the quality post may got down and hard to find.

There are some newbie that try their money on investment without study about anything then when they got loss some profit, they always sell their money.

Pessimism and panic comes from lack of experience and understanding of trading. People think that instant luck can make them rich, which is obviously wrong. They don't take into account the factor of volatility.

The bankers are the ones that spread the pessimism.
They do not want us to have crypto because of the fact that they lose money on the commision. With crypto there is no commision for them.
Crypto is a huge threat to conventional money.
The way todays economy works is that you need banks and bank accounts ( for which you pay fees ) for everything, getting a job, a company or just being a student in collage.
Seems okey, for the XX century not XXi.
The way crypto works is that you have a transparent ( yet ID protected ) system, with little to no fees, and the transactions are done in an instant. No more hassle.

Bankers are not worried about commissions but control. Governments... pretty much the same. Cryptos give, again, control over your assets to people who really own them and this is something really unacceptable by institutions and banks.
This is the real innovation not the fact that a transaction could be done on Sunday...even if for some under developed countries just that could be enough.

Me too. It is  sad to see  people complaining about the falling of the market all the time. Cryptocurrencies are not stable but their choice is big so you can invest in other altcoins. And a lot of them have a big future.

It is the boom of bitcoin and the whole of the market that drives the thinking of all investors, from a small market, into a market that is thousands of times larger, and as it goes. Down again, they feel deprived and depressed. But in fact, the market is still developing in the right direction.

It's not that they're truly pessimist about it.They had to because they need to express their frustration of not having profit, despite holding so long or buy many amount of crypto. We just have to understand that and let them be.

if you think normally it's nothing more than a mental situation. but in the bitcoin market it could effect on practical way, the new arrivals are increasing and they are dealing with the market without any knowledge and it creating panic over the market, as a result they are not even able to rise their own prices.

Well I am full time in crypto and have to say a year later I am poorer than what I wa slast summer as the bear run has literally wiped me out of all my wealth. My bags now are so insignificant in value it would take a bull run twice as big as the last one to bail me out of my shrivelled bag syndrome so yeah I am a bit depressed right now but I am a die hard crypto fan and won't give up as I really believe in the idea of decentralized money and blockchain technology.  Smiley  Cry When you see your portfolio go down by 98% it's hard to be happy right now.

you are a long-term crypto watcher, and the bearish market is dominated by panic due to short-term strategy, so I think that some of the short traders who created FUD. they panicked and experienced CL.

yes, today bitcoin is more valuable when compared to the previous year, but for some people who buy bitcoin when the price is 15K or 20K, is bitcoin still have value for them? certainly not.

so, I think that bitcoin valuable is relative.

I don't want Bitcoin to be stable. If Bitcoin had been stable it would have stayed on the same 10$ per coin or whatever level forever. We reached new ATH because Bitcoin has been volatile. And in order to reach new heights this process must go on. Pessimists are just people who want to become filthy rich overnight. It doesn't work like that  Grin

Well, it is true that Bitcoin is worth much more than the price of it at the time of inception but even at this stage, I believe that Bitcoin is still undervalued as compared to that of the real potential of it according to the user base of the same. However, we don't have the mass maturity as of now and that's why the big whales and institutional investors can manipulate the market without much efforts.

Pessimism in the cryptocurrency world is the major reason why it isn't stable recently. Whenever there is a little drop in prices, people begin to think about crypto as a bad thing and say all sort of things about it.

My 2 satoshis...

What you say make me feel that it's sure. And I also think that people really think that the current downturn of the BTC is because it has just undergone a price boom. If compared with a long time, this is probably a time when BTC is most stable. BTC is not abnormal fluctuations, people are more likely to invest.

At holders BTC, I think other thoughts - they think how to make money, but not to ensure stability.
Therefore, now everything is very closely followed and waiting for the rise to begin.

Well Bitcoin is not a Stablecoin.
Volatility then wasn't too extreme (price increased and decreased slowly) until the "big money" started pouring in.
If you tamper with the deflationary aspect and get away with it, one day you will scheme to take away the non censorship feature and people who matter (esp the ones preaching censorship resistance today) will say nothing.

It's very difficult to even imagine what price one coin would trade for if Bitcoin is hovering around its actual limits. There have been several calculations pointing at prices over $1,000,000.

Currently it looks impossible, but it's very possible if all pieces of the puzzle come together and the legacy economy crashes to fuel Bitcoin's demand. The more the legacy economy messes up, the more value Bitcoin has.

Who would have ever thought that Bitcoin would reach $19,500 at the time one coin was trading under a buck? $1 to $19,500 is an increase of ~1,950,000%. $6000 to $1,020,000 is an increase of 17,000%.

very interesting, you say that bitcoin is not stable coin. meaning that on the other side there is an unstable coin.

I want to get knowledge from you, because, I think you have more experience in the world of crypto.

what is mean by stable coin and unstable coin? can you give examples of both? how do both affect the market value of crypto?

People now don't look at the history of a coin from when it started but looks at the coin from when they buy it. The mere fact is that they only buy a coin because they want instant money. Not thinking there is a process. Crypto is volatile. We cant expect an upward trend all the time.

I can understand.
We have here many very young and inexperienced investors.
They never invested in any market and don't have realistic expectation.
So, when price go up they are very inspired but when we have long price drop they feel depress Smiley
Unfortunately, many of them just give up and sell in panic, without any profit.

Determining long-term investment in the market is a way to make me feel very comfortable despite the sharp drop in the market recently. Cryptocurrency has a great potential for growth, while it is too small for other financial markets and it is a good opportunity for investors.

It is hilarious to carry pessimism into cryptocurrency. The nature of crypto trading can turn out well and at the same time bad. I always carry my risk calculation mind with an optimistic ideology. All that some stupid traders want is their own personal gains but crypto is a no mans control.

Well it is really frustrating to understand that people are being pessimist when they have seen the value of bitcoin is going low, but they are aiming for the best for it, we should always optimistic so that we can the trend can also follow what our mind desires.

In the current scenario, not only an optimistic view on Bitcoin, but a pessimistic view, if the purchasing power does not manifest itself in a timely manner. There is still insufficient buyer volume to assume the beginning of a trend reversal

Pessimism is a mental attitude. Pessimists anticipate undesirable outcomes from a given situation, which is generally referred to as situational pessimism, or believe that undesirable things are going to happen to them in life more than desirable ones.

I'm every market, people will panic, others will be pessimistic, some others again will be optimistic its part of the dynamics of the market. For the fact that to you bitcoin price is still green, does not mean it has to be for others. Just like the forum here, when some other people are just waking up to their activities, some are about to go to bed while others are in their mid-day.

For those who bought from the beginning of last year till say middle of the year, there is no reason to panic they are just being greedy for excessive profit and carried away with how the balance in dollars was soaring high by the day. But the same cannot be said of those who bought from December down to last month compared to what price is trading at now. Its surely a trying time.

This was an interesting post. The problem in the market right now is there are a lot of newbies and they are not patient enough with Bitcoin. We have to trust the coin and be patient with it to gain profit.

Also, i am not a pessimist on the issue of BTC. In the past, these bubbles were made repeatedly and irregularly repeats. It is it possible for them to earn extra lot of money, but it's mostly an exception than the rule. The stability period is predominant, as it is in the financial sector, for example, in stock exchanges and the banking sector. At the time of BTC stability, better earnings can be obtained from BTC derivatives, which are altcoins.

The only problem is why the pumps happening and after just some times it will dump again hugely so theres a speculative idea about manipulating

The bitcoins had high hopes for many investors, after he reached 20,000, even the most cautious of them was waiting for 50,000, so many are so pessimistic.

The pessimism is centered around the fact that as bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market has been able to go the distance with their value and high market price. But as time passes and progresses there was a considerable decline and defradation from the saturated market which has been a cause for panic and distress to
The cryptocurrency users kost notably the bitcoin users as even the hardened ones were soon to use the panic button.

Hard times are for those people who bought BTC for $10k hoping that it will reach $50k be the end of the year.
It is indeed very discouraging to see that the value of your asset is "melting" every single day.
Though I do agree with you that bitcoin was a bit overestimated over the past several months and its current price reflects the more or less real demand.

Pessimism lies everywhere where there is a winning or loosing situation. Bitcoin or lets say crypto trading is also about winning and loosing where one wins when he gains profit in a trade and vice versa. There many kinds of people and some of them are those can't handle their loss and spread the pessimism because of their loss. The others are those who not aware of the potential of the technology and be pessimistic because of this. Some don't believe in the technology itself and thats why spread the pessimism whereas the others don't want others to make money and hence spread pessimism through their influence. The world is filled with such people and it depends on us whether to take the risk or not.

Pessimism comes from people who invest a lot of money in the start of January when the booming began and now saw their investment undervalue a lot which is a normal sign when you're just another overnight fortune seeker. Its true if you compare bitcoin since the beginning of its creation that bitcoin has been overvalue until now, but the recent development and booming in crypto nowadays has seen bitcoin as undervalued as it lost almost 70% of its value compared to the highest peak of its price.  Grin Grin

Exactly my point!!

Newbies have had a lot of expectations set from the crypto market and market has failed to satisfy all what they needed from the market. Especially at this point of time when it is expected of the market to be a bit favorable after a long correction period, market has not been able to comply with the standards set by the newbie community. That is the reason a huge FUD has been created and nobody is able to come out of all of this. Lets just hope for superlative market conditions in the future is what most of us have to say as of now. But not everything can be controlled easily and so is the case with the crypto market. It behaves in its own kind and is full of uncertainities.

Pessimism is a mental attitude. Pessimists anticipate undesirable outcomes from a given situation, which is generally referred to as situational pessimism, or believe that undesirable things are going to happen to them in life more than desirable ones.
very very true. It has almost nothing to do with crypto, it has only to do with mindset of given people. all they need is to everything go in their favor in that given moment or they whine.

Most people are naturally afraid of losing. Optimism is very important for us to know what exactly we are going to do in hard times. If we keep on being afraid of not earning then we cannot think of a strategy properly.

Like any investment people that went all in in the tail end of last year would have been the biggest losers. There only opinion in the months that followed would have been to cash out and cut their losses. In my opinion many of these people would have been new to crypto currencies and were really just buying on hype.
You can see how many of these became pessimistic about the outlook of bitcoin but they failed to realise that anyone who did well with crypto were probably in from the early days.

I completely agree. A year ago, bitcoin was worth several times less than at the moment. In general, just think about ... 6 thousand dollars for bitcoin, even more at the moment. But after all, it once cost 100 bitcoins for 1 dollar ... so I do not understand people's discontent either. And yes, right now the market is in a stage of falling or stagnation, but the market is a wave process and sooner or later the wave should go very high up.

I believe those people who are pessimistic are the ones who bought bitcoin and expect to earn a huge profit directly. As you can see no one gets rich overnight here in bitcoin, one must work hard to make it to the top. People must stop that mentality and time to face the reality. Those pessimistic people are the greedy ones who wants to be rewarded big without thinking things first.

Stupid investors don't have anyone else to blame but themselves if they've invested in bogus icos. The warnings have been all around crypto world to be cautious and wary when investing and to make thorough studies on which coins you'll put money on. Sad part is, it makes bigger news when these lazy people lose money, making a lot of people think that this market is just full of scams.

Those are people who think that they can get away and became rich just by buying bitcoin. Lol. Ico's are a real magnet, they just pour their cash and believed that one day they will get huge dividends but it didn't happen. So they became pessimistic and then they make a sudden u-turn attacking crypto just because they lost their hard earn money.  Grin

I also do not understand all the pessimism around cryptocurrency, specifically the pessimism around bitcoin. Bitcoin has been around for a long tome, since 2008 to be exact, and has made many people wealthy. No one has lost money by purchasing bitcoin, they can always just sell it back, that is of course if they sell if for more than what they bought it. Bit coin and the other crypocurrencies are a step into the new world, a world where electronic money will play an important of society's economic well being. many people agree that bitcoin and the other crytocurrencies are the new money.

You are correct in your thought , but we all do not have same temperament , so persons run at the first sign of 'trouble' and are risk-adverse.

Pessimism comes from people that either don't understand cryptocurrencies or they don't like the impact they are making on the world as we know it. Regarding stabilization - this technology has made some crazy changes and its market will remain as "crazy" as the scale this change is taking.  Smiley

Newcomers are the one who are more of a pessimisms. They have relatively less expertise and often lose heart when the market fails to live up to their expectations. Also people will poor strategic planning and intentionally attack the prices hoping to get it down but the plan backfires. There both optimistic and pessimistic people in the market.

Also not only newcomers  but also those who have invested and waited patiently but have gotten nothing out of it. in a way they have a right to be pessimistic but at the same time they cant give up.

It is also coming from those people that are being affected by the popularity of cryptocurrency and their business was being done by it.

Regarding stabilization - this technology has made some crazy changes and its market will remain as "crazy" as the scale this change is taking.  Smiley
And while they are being pessimistic, this crazy change will change a lot of lives and if they won't adopt it, they will done for it.

In every investments, you are taking the risk and of course you need to work hard for it. In this crypto world, if you invest you need to research for a good trading sites and a  potential coins that will give you more profit.

Yes, many people complain when investing in bitcoin, because the price is very difficult to guess, he never realized that actually investing in bitcoin not just him, but many others who invest in bitcoin, automatic that affect the price is very much too. If real money is used for investing lots of people, then the real money will cost fluctuate like bitcoin.

I think so. That's why they really make a quick profit and a quick cut loss in order to not to make a bigger loss so the price won't cchange like 2017.

To an extent yes it is correct because those who are daily or short term trader they require daily movement in order to execute trade which is not happening and thus this discourage them to trade. But for long term perspective slow growth is a good option

I think pessimists here are just sore losers. Disappointed that they didn’t got rich quickly. Worry not, soon they’ll realise that they’re just wasting their time being here and just leave.

yeah the memories of a bubble burst made investors afraid to buy bitcoin and they continued to buy bitcoin Because of the limited supply and interest in bitcoin, more and more made bitcoin recover from the bursting of the bubble

Any work that can bring good money requires a lot of effort and professionalism. And if any person with the street decided to do business in the crypto currency, he will certainly lose all the money. This business needs to learn and gain experience for several years. Crypto currency is a business that brings a good income. Learn it and earn it

it is true what you say in your opinion because the risk gained in the investment is large enough but I think the greater the risk if we can make good use of all the opportunities will certainly make a big profit too

Don’t try to understand why pessimists are the way they are. There’s nothing much you can do about it anyway. Just be thankful you’re not one of them.  Cheesy

Pessimism is only for people who do not know Crypto history and do not understand, they just want to get instant money and success, but in reality all that requires a process in the real world or crypto world nothing is instant, if they think joining Crypto can be rich and successful, obviously that's wrong thinking.

Pessimism occurs because of lack of confidence and fear of loss, and doing something without having enough knowledge about what to do. For that I think I understand about bitcoin, and learn the cause of bitcoin price movement as well as the factors that cause the fall or rise in price, then invest by using the money we have according to the ability and do not take a loan money just to buy bitcoin, hoping the big profit finally we suffer losses due to anxiety and pessimism.

The reasons are quite obvious. I sure don't know them all but I will mention two. There is the pessimism that is unintentional. This comes mainly from newbies. These guys when introduced to bitcoin were told that it was a quick money-making scheme. Alas, on investing a few dollars, they didn't seem to see the returns they were promised. Hence the pessimism and alarm raising. But there's also the intentional pessimism. This comes from pros who share negative opinion in order for the value to drop. This way they can buy at ridiculous rates and watch the profit rush in. Hope this was quite helpful.

People have no nerves and time to wait. They are angry when it is low and it doesn't go up for months. Trading and investing in crypto currencies isn't a sport for everybody. The pessimism and anger can't do much here.

What you are saying is contrary to the whole reason bitcoin was Invented.  If Bitcoin have a stable value then people have no option than to keep their money in fiat.

There are various purposes and intends for which people venture into crypto. To be optimistic or pessimistic about how bitcoin operates is a matter of choice. Just like the real world, people decides what to do and what not to do with their money.

The period we are in now is a stability period for bitcoin. As you clearly stated, currencies stability will make more healthier and attract more investors because that's when people will beginning to have confident in the whole cryptosystem.
We can never sideline pessimist from cryptocurrencies because its in is developing stages where a lot of reactions will come from different angles.

If you are the ones who buy at a higher price and now the price is steadily declining. The problem is that they all get things without a proper understanding of the crypto market, they are now frantically watching their coins fall, thinking that prices will not recover.

All currencies have ups and downs and this can not be avoided. I think that now is not the best time in the market for cryptocurrencies, but this does not exactly mean their end or that we no longer need to believe in them.

Most people still don't understand that the price of 7500 dollars for 1 coin is fantastic! Do you know at least one national currency with such a rate towards the dollar?)

National currencies are a country's currency. Since USA is a dominant country, they are one of those who have the most valuable currencies. Bitcoin might be really expensive for now, but you really can't compare it to national currencies because bitcoin isn't a currency of a country. It can increase and decrease accordingly without having to rely on a specific country's economy. All it relies to is the supply/demand. With this comes high volatility and zero guarantee that the coin will have value forever or have an increasing value.
