Selfish Bitcoin holders

I have been trying to drum up some support from the community to help launch the first bitcoin flag into space. I was even offering free advertisement space to people who donate. I have not received 1 donation to support Bitcoin flag going to space. Bitcoin needs positive news in the media to make the prices rise again. As a Bitcoin holder it is in my best interest to create positive PR in the media to help surge Bitcoin popularity and prices. I have spent many Bitcoins on parts, Cameras, Material needed for the mission to launch bitcoin flag into space but not one person has found it in them to help. Are we just a selfish bitcoin community consumed by greed has no idea or care about the greater good? This is not what Satoshi had in mind for us to turn into the greedy banker types. I ask you one last time .Support the mission to take the FIRST Bitcoin Flag into SPACE. Donate please  1HNNi6EPCxRsHUpGESZXoFr9qpWqiLeY8L

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Have you tried reaching out to bitcoin related businesses ?  Coinbase,  Coindesk, BTC-E, Lets Talk Bitcoin,  Bitcoin gambling sites,  etc etc ?   You might have some progress on that front if you haven't done so already. Companies are probably a lot more interested in advertising space than random bitcoin users.

Although this project sounds cool, it's not something i'm personally interested in. Maybe others are in the same boat and that could be a reason for the lack of donations.

It does raise the question though if bitcoin is quickly becoming a thing people "hoard" instead of spend/use. It's topic that comes up constantly when talking about a currency that is deflationary.

How about not over reaching and attributing the lack of success to gready "holders"?  Plenty of companies have sold plenty of goods for Bitcoins.  The same goes to charities.   Take a look at Sean's Outpost.

The fact that you have raised exactly zero speaks more to your venture.  I never donated because the proposal was light on details and I doubted your ability to pull it off.  At this point your rant against evil greedy bitcoin holders ... well my interest is exactly 0.

Please Educate me!!! I am not being sarcastic. If I am doing something wrong tell me how to do it right. As long as the mission gets accomplished I will swallow my pride and listen and do whatever it takes to launch the flag into space.  If you have the time please tell me what I need to do?

If I may offer you a bit of constructive criticism...

1: You website is amateurish at best.  Bitcoiners see a website like that and they think great, another scam.  I not saying you have to change your website.  I'm saying you'll have to work harder to convince us you are legit.

2: Calling us all greedy bankers will not win you any brownie points here, my friend.  Don't try to guilt us into supporting your cause.

3: You don't have any basic information front and center describing you project.  Who are you? How is it possible you can get something into space? Do you have contacts at NASA or something? How does it work? Are you building your own rocket? Where are you launching from?  Do you have a permit? Are the cops going to shut you down?  Are you going to burn your house down with this? Are you going to burn MY HOUSE down with this? etc.   Some basic info about what you are trying to do would go a long way towards generating support.

If I don't donate USD or bitcoin to some charity or project, they will declare me a greedy holder?
If I chose to donate or not is my choice. Now, you can be sure that I'll redirect everyone away from your project.

First find a trustable member of the community to collect the funds for your project.
That would stop people saying it's a scam. I myself consider your project a scam  to this point.

Thank you for your time to educating me. It means a lot to me when people take the time to share knowledge. I will update information. I outlined all of the information in the main thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=441303.0

We will be using Weather balloons so no worries about legality . Weather balloons are launched all the time . The total weight of the craft will be 1-5 pounds .

OP:

1)  The venture you're offering seems (please don't take offense) kind of cheesy.  To those not in the tech world, all they will see is "Big Bang Theory" cast member / ComiCon enthusiast nerdyness.  Especially with the whole "Bitcoin Space Federation".  Its really important that you are aware of your audience if you want to drum up enthusiasm and support for something.  You're marketing to a miniscule demographic.

2)  I don't see how putting a flag in space is going to be "something epic" for Bitcoin.  It meets no need.  It does nothing to make the non-Bitcoin person's life easier.  Therefore it will not increase demand for Bitcoin.  Therefore it will not (by definition) do anything to make the price go up.  The vast majority of people out there will roll their eyes and think of it as a silly endeavour that has no purpose.  You might get a couple mentions in a couple articles, at best. If you want to do something "epic" for bitcoin, find a functional need in the infrastructure and start a business that provides for it.

3)  What's it going to do when it gets there?  Orbit earth, wadded up like a paper ball along with the other 100,000 bits of space junk?  At least the company planning to launch a blockchain node into space is meeting an important need for redundancy and security.  Maybe you can email those guys and slap your flag on the side of the thing.

i like the idea, but perhaps in like 5 years once and if some of us get really wealthy. Which has yet to occur.

I would like to open a 'branch' kind of like a bank, basically an office space perhaps across the street from a major branch like Bank of America, the store would be called BITCOIN.. It would operate as a nonprofit, funded by the bitcoin community. Now if anyone driving by or coming to/from the bank, has any questions regarding the many things people need to know about bitcoin, I can sit there with them on a computer that I supply, I show them how to operate coinbase, blockchain, BTC client, how to safely store bitcoins, And the goal in mind is get encourage most who come by why it is a wise idea for them to go home on their computer and buy some bitcoin. Making me NOT a money service business making it completely legal as nothing is bought or sold under my roof, however the longer term affects of people going out and buy 1 of 13million bitcoin will RAISE the price!

Kind of how I want to open a marijuana store in a non legal state, call the store "Marijuana" so the city and every one can get their panties in a bunch, advertise free marijuana, to create a buzz, get the police, dea, who ever stopping by searching for all the marijuana that does not exist, and use the space, and the people stopping by as a way to educate people how a dispensary looks, functions, etc. Educating the people first is the most powerful thing people can do to help their neighbor.

Let the town get into an uproar over the name marijuana have parents pissing their pants, whilst others are stopping by showing their support, police would get upset because no laws are being broken, the city would attempt to close me down, but free speech and the lack of illegal substances on premise would leave them with no ammo..

3)  The whole "How is this guy going to launch something into space" element is kind of the elephant in the room.  I haven't read your announcement thread but going by the posts above, you still haven't clarified how you plan to accomplish it.

4)  What's it going to do when it gets there?  Orbit earth, wadded up like a paper ball along with the other 100,000 bits of space junk?  At least the company planning to launch a blockchain node into space is meeting an important need for redundancy and security.  Maybe you can email those guys and slap your flag on the side of the thing.

Thank you for you time spend educating me.  I outlined the details in the main  ANN thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=441303.0

This mission is the first we are doing . Next i would like to see a Bitcoin Satellite that broadcasts the block chain from space. The important of his flag launch is to create global buzz. I will get millions of YouTube his and most likely get seen in the major news stations. We have been getting a lot of negative PR from the news lately about bicoin. I aim to change that by flooding the news with positive NEWS about bitcoin
