ETH is not even a currency let alone be a mainstream one! why do you insist on sticking it hard to bitcoin pretending they are on the same level? bitcoin is so ahead that if you look back you can't even see shitcoins like ethereum!

You have got to be kidding with me. Replacing Bitcoin or Ethereum at the top of the crypto chain would honestly take a miracle at the moment and I feel that no coin or token comes close to the popularity of both these coins currently. Bitcoin will always be king, but Ethereum could be replaced with a popular coin like Litecoin or Ripple if their popularity surges ahead of ETH. The future will not have any overdraft from Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a standalone platform and it is an open source. No one will be able to influence Bitcoin's position in the market unless Satoshi Nakamoto come back.
