The Rubycoin admins allowed certain pools to jump in early, therefore not assuring a fair launch. When asked if those pools would be banned from future launches they said no.
Let's face it people this is a scamcoin.
When did they say that? Here in the forum? In IRC. Suchpool.pw jumped in several minutes early "accidentally".....when asked if suchpool would be removed from future launches they said no. When asked if the Ruby Admins have had previous dealings with the suchpool admins they were very evasive. Given this information one can assume a fix was in from the start, if that is not the case the only responsible thing to do would be remove suchpool from the first half hour or so of the second launch. They will not do this. You can only assume the first launch was dirty and the second launch will be as well. If it wasn't for other issues with the coin this probably would have gone ignored and unnoticed.

** General FYI for newer miners such as myself ( a few words of common sense) **
In following a coin and its progress, I have found that checking the ANN Page 1 for a coin to be very useful. That is where (usually) you will see the coin developers put updates to the coin and or progress, such as Nodes list, IRC channels, bountys, websites, wallet links, coin specifications and future plans. I have been in the mining arena for not more than 1 month, and still find the ANN page 1 to be one of the most useful resources to check on changes & updates. I have taken part in a few new coin launches at this point, & there are always new miners in the mix, which is fantastic & great for the community & crypto in general. So if you're new like me..and you want to keep up to date with a coin, follow the thread & check the ANN PG1 frequently, if there is an IRC channel join it, that's a good way to get quick updates aswell. Just keep in mind the obvious, don't bank on speculation, & verify everything you think to be true, if 'Ilikecryptoz1234' says somthing like 'its being launched in 3 hours', that does not mean that it's the case. Know who the developers are ( at least by forum/IRC name ) and go by what they say. Every one can speculate, thats the easy thing to do..but verify. Happy Mining !

Or approximation of the time this was said? Edit: Just after I posted the above reply, rubycoin has updated their PG 1 with a statement, which addressed the concern with a pool ( unnamed ) that misunderstood the Unfortunately, at least one mining pool began mining early due to a misunderstanding of the procedural launch agreement. I can accept this, as mistakes happen, I'm human..I have made more than my fair share of them, and I'm sure as the years progress, I will make more.

It doesn't matter if those pools get ban or not, pools will not get source earlier this time.

Considering the update to ANN PG 1, and the statement made by Rubycoin recently, I stand by my Edit post made a few above this one in regards to the re-launch & will be happily participating when that time comes.

The senior developer has said that a firm re-launch time will be announced by 5pm tomorrow, and that everyone will be given at least 48 hours notice before mining begins. I've been really impressed with how this has been handled by the team.
It's also pretty crazy that when you think about the pre-buy numbers flying around, we're talking about this giveaway being worth between $75,000 - $150,000 USD very quickly.

Maybe I've missed something, but was the coin really launched without wallets people could withdraw their coins to? And what about solo mining?

The wallet was released on the first launch, but will be re-released. I've heard talk of it going out in a password protected rar for windows but nothing confirmed yet. I just asked @RubyCoin in their IRC about solo mining for you, he said that it was technically possible, barely. RUBY's difficulty will recalculate with each block, and considering the first attempt yielded a 5.0 G/H network rate within minutes.... I don't think solo mining would be very feasible unless you're talking about having warehouses of GPUs, heh.
