I have three transactions that are showing up as "finished" on bitstamp, but are not in the blockchain yet.

Almost three hours now. Opened a support ticket, no answer yet.

This signature refers to itself.

BTC-e did a wallet update last night and everything what was withdrawn during that period did not hit the blockchain. As of a few hours ago, withdrawals from btc-e are working fine though. Just waiting for them to send me the frigging coins from last night.

yes i knew about the wallet update. irregardless, my 5btc w/d took 10 hours to hit the blockchain, which it did 2.5 hours ago. now i am waiting to see coin, but nothing even pending, after 13 confirmations. https://blockchain.info/tx/072118b9bd470086f1c3e62a092672ba457139bdf20a0d2613e74a84810575cc

my worst fear is that something is wrong with bitcoin.

someone is spamming the network with double spend transactions.

If you are unlucky and your withdraw was a double spend, could the BTC be gone into the limbus?

Not really relevant, the missing withdrawals did not hit the blockchain in any shape or form.

And it's clearly not a double spend. Craptsy is just being....craptsy in your case. As far as the blockchain and every client out there is concerned, your BTC have arrived where you sent them. Had you sent them to your wallet they would be there now.

thank you, comforting. any quick way to explain how you know its not a double spend? or could you point me in a direction to learn how to read blockchain more thoroughly?

also, when i pull that same address up myself via blockchain.info, i do not get the double spend warning that the above link gave.

Well you said you had 13 or 16 confirms, which means every exchange and client out there will consider the transfer valid. BTC-e and Stamp credit deposits after 3 confirms, Gox 6 I believe same as the BTC client. So if there's more than 10 by all means it's there.

I checked the link you gave and I'd need to know what your wallet address was to see specifically, seems to be a load of transactions going to the cryptsy address what you linked.

What is obvious is that BTC-e withdrawals were completely down for a period of time, came back, and what was processed during the downtime is backlogged somewhere. Not too worried about that but I want this sorted ASAP to cash out with a profit.

same here, cashout with the profit. the wallet id which coin was sent from is 14MC1rFAFmma3ngDzkEjyZjoc8B3Y4rNxJ which is indeed, clumped up with a large number of other tx's. my novice point of view was thinking that the spew of w/d that came out of btc-e sort of clogged cryptsy's wallet and is causing delays. either way, it sounds like i just have to wait, thanks very much for the explanation.

i did file a support ticket with cryptsy several hours ago. since, they have asked for tx details, which i provided.

Same here, both my withdrawals from Bitstamp and BTC-E have not hit the blockchain, but the amount has disappeared from both accounts. No answer from either helpdesk yet.

The withdrawals have been made 14 hours ago.

I tried to deposit 3btc to my bitstamp account and it still has not been credited. The transaction is on the blockchain with 8 confirmations. Probably similar issue as with MtGox. Might not be only a MtGox issue in the air.

And they call BTC a smooth currency? Still big steps to take before that is 100% true Sad

That is not unusual actually - have that all the time. Right now though bitstamp has severe delays in processing transactions so it may take longer still.

Deposited BTC in bitstamp yesterday.  No problem in my account within 4 confirmations.

Withdrew BTC from bitstamp yesterday.  Took about 10 minutes to be processed.

No problem that I can see.

Maybe GoX wasn't wrong and this bug really is effecting other exchanges

Stamp seems to have a problem with $ withdrawals as well.
On SEPA withdrawal it shows: Minimum withdrawal amount is $10. You have $0.00 available. while the balance is not $0.00.

It seems like they have halted all transactions. I hope that's just temporary to update their software.
The exchanges should hire someone to deal with public communication not just personal support staff. These flaws would cause a lot less trouble if they would publish the causes and solutions of those flaws more quickly.
The crypto scene is quite nervous at the moment and any delays in publishing necessary information creates trouble.

Ok, so some people did experience problems, some didn't.

I'd like to know if anybody who did experience these problems (BTC removed from account, but not shown up in blockchain) had the issue fixed by BTC-e or bitstamp? Cause I didn't get a response from either one yet and it has been almost a day ago now.

Most people complaining have either a very low post count or only joined the forum today.

They are likely Mt. Gox sock puppets.

Made a withdrawal this morning (UK time) and it seemed to work fine - at Bitstamp it's marked as "Finished" - but it never appeared in the wallet. I sent them a support ticket after a couple of hours, but no reply yet.

It's a 1 BTC transfer so I'm not sweating too much (just happy it wasn't 10 BTC, I made one of those last week).

It's probably going to be all right, but I wish they'd post a statement or something. Also, for a few hours I suspected I'd misspelled the wallet address somehow, and there is no way to verify on Bitstamp which address I used.

My SEPA withdrawal page definitely does not show $0 available. Do you still experience the issue?

yes i knew about the wallet update. irregardless, my 5btc w/d took 10 hours to hit the blockchain, which it did 2.5 hours ago. now i am waiting to see coin, but nothing even pending, after 13 confirmations. https://blockchain.info/tx/072118b9bd470086f1c3e62a092672ba457139bdf20a0d2613e74a84810575cc

I am waiting for my BTC withdrawal from BTC-E an still nothing after 29 hours  Angry

Dear Bitstamp users

Bitstamp’s exchange software is extremely cautious concerning Bitcoin transactions. Currently it has suspended processing Bitcoin withdrawals due to inconsistent results reported by our bitcoind wallet, caused by a denial-of-service attack using transaction malleability to temporarily disrupt balance checking. As such, Bitcoin withdrawal processing will be suspended temporarily until a software fix is issued.

No funds have been lost and no funds are at risk.

This is a denial-of-service attack made possible by some misunderstandings in Bitcoin wallet implementations. These misunderstandings have simple solutions that are being implemented as we speak, and we're confident everything will be back to normal shortly.

Withdrawals which failed on the 10th and 11th of February will be canceled and the amounts added back to the customer account balances.

We will communicate any further developments regarding this issue.

Thank you for your understanding!

Best regards

That depends on how much the exchange-software relies on the tx-id in order to do its bookkeeping. It's perfectly possible to do bookkeeping without even caring about the tx-id. Or, in the case of MtGox, you could use the tx-id as the holy grail for your transaction-tracking, in which case you're fubar'ed. Especially today where someone seems to be rebroadcasting pretty much every transaction in the network with a different tx-id.

My understanding is that, that would be the long term solution but short term it enough to make the exchange wallets so that this malleability doesn't matter or do any harm.

Normal user-to-user transactions are working fine. The problems come from automated systems that need some way to keep track of how much funds are available and whether transactions that have been sent were received properly. These automated systems often use the tx-id to keep track of transactions, but as we've seen, the tx-id is not a reliable identifier.

I have the same issue with bter, made two withdrawals yesterday at 11 and 13 gmt, both shown as completed yet nothing shows in the blockchain. One shows in vircurex as incoming transaction. I wonder how vircurex saw it yet blockchain.info or blockexplorer didn't.

I talked to the customer support threw qq yesterday and they told me not to panic that they should go threw. But that it will take hours. More than 15 hours passed already. I'm really hoping I don't have to talk to the support again tonight.

I also got a withdrawal from stamp on sunday at 18 gmt.

I missed some nice arb oportunities  Undecided

Seems like this transaction malleability is a minor issue and of no threat to Bitcoin. I suspect this is the same issue facing the other exchanges. Of course, some people on this forum will try to spread FUD that Bitcoin is broken and you will never receive your BTC withdrawals etc.

I guess BTC withdrawals should be back to normal again within a few days at most after Bitstamp implements a solution.

Question:
Why is it that until yesterday no one's transactions were affected by Tx Malleability DDOS attacks, but once MtGox declares it to be their issue, all the sudden everyone else is hit by the same attack? Is it copycat hackers at work?

Maybe it gave some people an idea, or it gave people the right opportunity to use the exchange-rate tanking weapon they had been sitting on for a while.

There is still a large difference, the systems at Gox misuse TXIDs, other exchanges now are unable to process withdrawals because the stream of crap is creating a situation their systems aren't designed to deal with. It's a lot like comparing a server error to a ddos. The first one is a server issue, the second one needs to be mitigated.

Some possibilities:

1) The attackers became aware of the flaw only after MtGox made it widely known in their detailed technical announcement yesterday.
2) The attackers turned their attention away from MtGox to everyone else, after MtGox stopped BTC withdrawal requests.
3) The Bitcoin Foundation are behind the attacks, so that all exchanges and wallet providers become aware of the issue and are forced to fix their systems to prevent this from becoming a bigger issue later on.
4) MtGox are behind the attacks to divert blame, buy time and cover up their insolvency.
5) The attacker is someone who wants to cause panic, cause a market crash and then buy up cheap bitcoins.
6) A government (US, Russia, China...) are behind the attacks to try to discredit Bitcoin.
7) Russian hackers are behind the attacks and want you to enjoy watching Sochi (instead of sitting behind a computer all day).

why does the idiot market still pays 27 % more for imaginary bitcoins stuck at Bitstamp than for imaginary coins stuck at

Gox  ?   Bitstamp will fix it in an 27 % earlier timeframe ?

don´t forget Mt. Gox is easier to sue when found empty ;-)

Mt gox can be found empty, and if that is the case, what are you going to get after suing them, imaginary fiat?

Bitstamp on the other hand is believed to have both coins and cash available. If it was up to me I would let gox go all the way down to 0...

What is your problem?  I am not affiliated with MtGox in any way, except as a normal user.  If you are going to reply to all posts from MtGox customers telling them they are shills, I think you should go outside and play instead.  On the highway or something.

Worse? At least they answer. They answer even in this special situation where the support team probably is fully engaged. That's not worse than to not answer. Gox even doesn't answer in normal times. To quote the news release means, that they can't tell you more about dates at the moment.

No BTC added back to balance (well, not yet), IMO that's worse than MtGox. Why is the Bitstamp price still so high?
Right now it seems stampBTC is not better than goxBTC...
Worse? At least they answer.
A paste of a news item which has been on the site for a long time already, is not worth much.  It is just a "this is an automated response, we don't really care" type of answer.

Sjå https://bitmynt.no for veksling av bitcoin mot norske kroner.  Trygt, billig, raskt og enkelt sidan 2010.
I buy with EUR and other currencies at a fair market price when you want to sell.  See http://bitmynt.no/eurprice.pl
Warning: "Bitcoin" XT, Classic, Unlimited and the likes are scams. Don't use them, and don't listen to their shills.

You tried to withdraw 0.1 btc at feb 11? Does proccesed mean that bitstamp will deduct it from your balance when status change to finished. So i guess you still have it on your btc balance.

Edit
Are you aware of bitstam suspended btc withdraw two days ago.

You can not withdraw btc at bitstamp, they have suspend it. go to bitstamp home page and read the news.
I think you will get 0.1 btc back though. Also check your balance as they deduct that 0.1 btc only when status change to finished.

I deposited twice and withdrew twice from BTC-e since Bitstamp and Gox have been withholding your money. BTC-e did halt things briefly at some point.

Kraken never halted transfers because they "read the manual". People talk about other exchanges I never heard of who also read the manual.

Good news guys, my withdrawal went through after I thought it's lost in the limbo as well!
Just wait and be patient.
I think they have to chancel every single withdrawal manually and this can take for ever when you have a couple 1000 withdrawals pending.

and I was defently one of the very first with the withdrawal problem on btc-e.

Anyway I am migrating to Kraken after all of this ... also I am tired of calculating EUR/USD exchange rate for my localbtc trades, since Stamp doesn't have EUR order book, Kraken does.

Same...or at least have multiple verified exchange accounts for these types of occurances.

I don't like the way Bitstamp have handled this; its bizarre how nonchalant all bitcoin businesses seem to be..."we have better things to be doing than paying people their money, or even telling you when we will pay you"...you'd think they were curing cancer in the other room or something.

Bitstamp is still miles better than the way Gox have handled it, but still not good enough.

Dave's Bitcoin exchange grading chart:

A: Don't have a problem in the first place
B: Have a problem but fixed within a day with hourly progress updates
C: Fix the problem within a few days with daily progress updates
D: Fix the problem after a many days with barely any updates during  <--- Bitstamp
F: Take weeks fixing the problem and give almost no relevant updates.
F- (aka the Gox grade): Never properly fix the problem, blame it on someone else, keep charging fees and start praying to a shrine made of 3 Twinkies and a ding dong

I can confirm, we are starting to manually send out smaller batches of withdrawal requests while monitoring the bitcoin client's performance. Once we are completely satisfied with the results we will move to fully automated processing again.

Confirmed, withdrawals now working.

@hazek in the future when these kinds of things happen please please keep us up-to-date.  Even if that basically means telling us bullshit or almost nothing.  At least something is better than nothing.

Even if the daily update is something as simple as "Still working on the code"...it's just reassuring to know that there is someone there actually doing something.  It takes literally less than 1 minute to post something like that on facebook or twitter.

The spreads in the market (excluding Mt. Gox) are still far too big. Full liquidity has not resumed.

$/BTC
LocalBitcoins: $820
Coinbase: $666
Bitstamp:  $657
BTC-E:  $637

Those are way too far apart. When the exchanges are working right, those all track each other within a few dollars. What's not working?

(Mt. Gox, at $389, is off in "nobody believes you any more" land.)

Woah, you guys let's slow down a second before we start to mouth diarrhea all over the forum. Bitstamp just posted an update this morning about resuming withdrawals and Hazek posted afterward stating that they are processing manually processing withdrawals until they can go fully automated.

How much more can you ask for?

I would ask that they post their updates on their own web site, not on someone else's thread on bitcointalk.

As it stands, the web site has a message stating that withdrawals will be working again on the evening of the 14th, but then no update to say that they actually are. As days have passed with no further update in the past very few people will expect to go hunting on this forum for an update. It's just not very good customer service.

As I stated, I would ask a minimum of a daily update on such a critical issue.

There are two kinds of companies...those that take on customer feedback and improve, and those that think 'we know best and the customer can go f*** themselves cuz the fanboys think we're great'....which companies do better in the long run?

There are many different ways to run a company and Bitstamp doesn't fall into any of your categories. I'm not here to bash anyone or blow smoke up their ass, all I'm pointing out to you is that Hazek updated this morning with vital information. The reason why nothing has been onto the website is because the testing is still in process and they are not 100% ready to launch automated withdrawals to the world, which would make sense considering a fully untested platform may break again causing even more problems (and delays).

In the meantime, withdrawals are in process and working as stated earlier today. Hope you are able to do what you need to do! Smiley

I've had 30+ minute waiting times before this whole mess started. Bitstamp groups withdrawals together to save on tx-fees, so the system might just be waiting for more withdrawals to be requested.

I made a withdrawal this morning and it hit the blockchain just fine after 5-10 minutes or so (didn't pay much attention to the precise time).

edit: Withdrawals are automatic again: https://www.bitstamp.net/article/Bitcoin-withdrawals-are-once-again-fully-automated/

Is anyone else experiencing issues with withdrawing btc?  I tried withdrawing over an hour ago, and the status was still "Email confirmation needed", even though I clicked on the confirmation link. The withdrawal request eventually automatically canceled.  I noticed that it is past midnight in Slovenia.  Do they only process btc withdrawals during business hours? I was under the impression that the withdrawals were supposed to be automatic.

I encountered the same issue.

I ended up temporarily disabling email-confirmation and redoing the withdrawal and it has been stuck on "Waiting to be processed" for 1.5 hours now.

Thanks for the suggestion of turning off email confirmation. I canceled the previous request and resubmitted a new withdraw request a couple minutes ago. It just now hit the blockchain.

This was the case before the TM issue with GOX etc.

Never had a withdraw  not come through. Had a few delay a couple of hours...no biggie.

Attempted to do a BTC and USD withdrawal. When confirming the TX via email I still get the message for that TX listed as "E-mail confirmation needed".

Anyone else have this issue? This is a first for me.

My withdrawal hit the blockchain a few minutes after my post.

It seems that the email confirmation for withdrawal isn't working properly at the moment. Email does arrive, but clicking the confirmation link doesn't do anything.

A temporary solution is to disable email confirmations (for which you get a confirmation email that does work properly), make the withdrawal and then reenable email confirmations (for security reasons).

Ahh yes, I can confirm this as well. I can also confirm that disabling the email confirmations does work. Thanks for the update!

It just hit the blockchain. Just looks like the normal delay I had previously.

They need to fix that email confirm bug. Kinda annoying.

Apologies for the issue. It is now resolved and confirmation links should work again.

Sorry for The late answer but it has been a busy day.

The bitcoin withdrawal worked for me after I disabled the email confirmation (I have seen it works now so I'll enable it again)

The money withdrawal was not permitted to me due a larger than usual withdrawal request, so they asked me to answer some KYC questions. This morning (Berlin time)  I received an email that confirmed my withdrawal.

So now it's ok.

I have to say that operators have been patient with me (I got mad) but I also have to say that Bitstamp should increase their customer service. They have people's money and ppl can get nervous very easily. Especially in times like these.

But as I said above it's all right now and I am a happy Bitstamp customer again

7 withdrawals last 5 days
all working OK - hitting blockchain minimum 2minutes, maximum like 2 hours, but no problem
email confirmation working OK instantly
USD deposits and withdrawals within 5 working days

I am having a issue with Bitstamp for over 1 week. I have made a withdrawal(2nd of march of 5985$) to international bank account option, all ok confirmed by e-mail, got that my operation is in pending, OK! I havent checked any status about the transfer cos I was sure that friday(7th) they will hit my account, normaly they would have hited on thursday but I always like to keep one day more to be sure.

Ok, my bank said that no transfers came thru, I went on the website and I see that my balance is 5985$, immediatly I tought that my order got canceled or something. I go at the withdrawal history and I see my trasanction on the 2nd is still in process. Ok, so I try to make another withdrawal because of my balance showing up as 5985$, but when I hit the withdrawal to my account, I get the message : My balance is 0.24$. What the hell is going on? Can somebody explain please!

you cant call, you have to submit a ticket through their system, my advice is to not spam them with tickets, open only one ticket and wait, they might have allot of work, now that gox is gone allot of customers are moving there....

Am I in the right place to ask? I gave an incorrect (too short) btc address and confirmed this. I looked to see why nothing arrives in the right place. Was sent or debited. But what happens now with the money? Is it gone?
Hope someone can answer.
