You get the idea now. I am not going to post some links but I can easily find 50 within 10 minutes if needed

This might be the issue, Theymos might be waiting for people to report more posts before he has enough data to appoint a moderator - as he didn't seem to have very much data this time last year with only a few reports.

If there are enough unhandled reports then theymos will have to do something, there also doesn't seem to be anyone willing to moderate the board as both you and JohnUser have said that you have put too much effort into reporting posts and if no one is available to take the spot (and we can't magically produce people to moderate a board).

What is this?
You don't understand, we did what theymos said- to report, but nothing has change.

...started reporting since that day. Here are my stats to date: 438 posts with 99% accuracy (215 good, 3 bad, 220 unhandled)...

...Some other french members have stopped reporting because nothing move...

My point is 500 posts isn't that many, and why didn't you start reporting before that point or did you only keep a record since then?

There are users here like shorena who have reported tens of thousands of posts accurately without any acknowledgement of them (disclaimer: this information was read by me a while ago, it might not be 100% accurate).

The problem is about +1 year old, we can't go back to 2016-2017 to report all the posts. The French community isn't a big one there is no need to have 1000 reports to show there is a problem in the forum

For now, it doesn't matter anyway. Fuck crypto, WE ARE IN SEMI-FINAL MOTHERFUCKERS !!!

I went to your local board, at the bitcoin discussion and all topics were in French there.
Didn't find a single topic in Chinesein this board
Your local board looks ok to me. Everything is in French as it should be. I can't evaluate what they are saying, but I know it's 90% trash as most the forum.
Would you like to be do happy if I spoken like to you as this ? Do you want to read about mining swimming pool ?

One example : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4602345.0
" S'il vous plaît nous offrir du temps!" if I try to translate it in english : "Please offer we some time". In correct french, we say : please give us some time. We don't offer time.
"Deux tours de simplement envoyer votre adresse à notre compte bitcointalk comme message." => "Two rounds of simply send your adresse to our BCT's account like message"

And more than an example, why do you think french members have created this topic : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4404879 ?

Can you link a board with real problems?
It's easy to answer, have a look at : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=13.0

More seriously, you want to get news on the Bitcoin? Don't go on the french Bitcoin news board.
A few days ago, a member decided to flood the Bitcoin news forum. Here's the result:

We told him to stop, he kept going before he heard reason.

The Daneel ambassador has decided to make one topic per news of his token :

It's too hard to create one and only one topic for his token ? Isn't Altcoins board flooded enough already?

You want to buy contraband cigarettes ? Come to the French boards.

You want an example of a non-French-speaking man who comes to do his signature campaign with impunity?

There are users here like shorena who have reported tens of thousands of posts accurately without any acknowledgement of them (disclaimer: this information was read by me a while ago, it might not be 100% accurate).

Since when did Shorena start reporting ?

What is its/hers report accuracy?

I started to report in February on the French boards only.
Make a comparison on the number of posts between the English and French boards.
And compare what is comparable.

There's no objection here as I think.  Grin Grin Grin

He doesn't want to be moderator himself. Some experimented french users of the forum already proposed themselves.

What is meant by "experimental French users"? If they're newbies and JRs then there's probably not much hope in getting them to be mods full/sr+ might have a chance at it though...

Since when did Shorena start reporting ?
How many forums does he/she report on?

What is its/hers report accuracy?

First of all, that was just an example.
Because I asked them that many questions Grin. There was a thread on it, I tried to google it but with no avail.
Accuracy was 99% if I remember rightly and what do you mean by forums, if you mean boards then no one actually really has that data other than Theymos so how would I know? And whenever they registered obvioulsy (2013).

If he doesn't cite them then report them for plagiarism with the relevant links (by PMing a global mod).

What is meant by "experimental French users"?
Experienced.

First of all, that was just an example.
Problem being, reporting posts in the French section doesn't lead to results when the moderator doesn't moderate.

If he doesn't cite them then report them for plagiarism with the relevant links (by PMing a global mod).
It shouldn't have to be this contrived. :/

If the board is at the point where they have to PM global mods to help moderate the section then isn't it a huge red flag to theymos that he should enlist the help of a new moderator?

Ah ok.

First of all, that was just an example.

But it owuld be picked up by theymos if there were a very large number of pending requests.

Yes. But for some reason he hasn't so that's the best alternative I could come up with.

I'm not entirely sure also why he thought the politics and society board needed a moderator more than the french board, most of the people who didn't want to spam but have relevant topics moved their topics to serious discussion or ivory tow.

I never liked the idea of ignoring the problem and just moving somewhere else.

Serious discussion and the Ivory Tower are good. But they should be temporary solutions. There will still be rampant spam in all sections namely Bitcoin Discussion which has devolved to the point where it seems insulting to have such a name. Moderators need to handle things on a more macro level (thread locks/trashing), or there should be more moderators appointed.

We should also have some better proactive measures against spam as the forum scales.

That went a bit off topic, however, I don't get the point of bitcoin discussion and think it's a bit redundant, can you think of something that fits there that couldn't be put in either Beginners and Help or Development and Technical Discussion?

General discussion on Bitcoin. Some ideas: "Public viewpoint of Bitcoin", "Depth of bitcoin knowledge of the average user", etc.
Back to the discussion, here: does the French board have a consensus on who the top two most qualified to-be moderators are?

I know that JohnUser doesn't want to be a moderator, so consider only the ones who are willing.

We discussed this in February and names came up.
- LeGaulois (Hero)
- Soy (Legendary) (from July and he asked for several mods)
- JonhUser (for Altcoins sections only)
and maybe more now. Things may have changed since February.

But before giving names, we should know if Theymos agrees to promote moderator(s). Once its GO given, the names will come quickly Smiley

With his links, Halab has given great examples of what we have to deal with every day.
I'll give you another one. Do you guys think it's normal that we have to create a thread like this one in order to get rid of fake French translators who poison our board ?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4498551.0

If we had a mod, he would just have to delete the threads. Here, we have to red trust those guys, gather some proof against them and then hope for a DT to check on the situation and tag them. We shouldn't have to do that. And that's only a mere drop in the ocean.
We are not a small community (though more and more French people are leaving), we deserve to be heard.
Just get rid of this useless mod (I can't believe he's getting paid for doing nothing) and promote someone else.

I vouch for LeGaulois to be a second French board mod.

Quote
Our actual mod isn't doing anything anymore (kcud_dab). I don't know him at all, so he might have been a great mod in the past, but he doesn't do shit now. And I believe he is getting payed for that.

Quote
- Everything's going according to plan. Kcud_dab is a good moderator.
- I need a little more time, but you're on the right/bad way.
- Okay, you're right, the situation is no longer bearable, I'll give you an answer soon.

Since there is already a mod and not questioning his capability, but considering the responses on this thread, a helping hand, additional support could be useful for one of the most popular boards in local, my opinion.

We definitely  get the whole idea here. To keep that board alive there should be someone who should stepup to keep it alive.

They are right that theymos might not just able to find someone who's willing to support that local section. Since you are already here gaining attention.

Try to apply for being a mod? And start reporting posts that you think does not have any sense at all. That might change theymos's outlook towards that section. As long as you are ready for that responsibility.

The need for a P&S mod and a French Mod are completely irrelevant to each other.  I wasn't promoted to a mod and then assigned P&S over the French board.  I don't believe having a P&S mod reduces or changes in anyway the French board getting a mod.
