Ethereum vs Bitcoin

Many people out there don´t believe that Ethereum can be a long term hodling, they simply use it participate in ICOs, sell and buy bitcoin again with the profit. Do you think that may change this year and ethereum can be seen as the choice to hodl?

Hodl? Maybe, it has it own advantages but as a means of payment it is way, way worse than bitcoin.
Adoption for it is obviously much lesser than that of btc, that's from my own experience. I don't use it, never planed to.
Hell, you cant even make multiple recipient transaction out of the box, that's a big issue. Let's be honest, its not a coin, it is a token.
I would be extremely surprised if one day its value surpasses Satoshis wonder. I don't believe it it possible but who knows?
If you are wondering what to buy as a long term investment, my recommendation is to go with bitcoins, tokens are a temporary gizmo, people will stop buying them at some point and than etereum will loose all its advantages, along with value.

if your intent is to invest long-term, obviously bitcoin be the best choice. ETH is only temporary, and if you last longer then the value will decrease and will not be profitable anymore. so it is unlikely that ETH will compete with BTC, because BTC is still a symbol in cryptocurrency.

I think ETH is a strong currency and in particular

buying these two coins when the price is so affordable will be very nice and easy to improve the development for much more increase again. so it is very profitable to buy these two coins. both have interesting developments. so it's good to have both and support even further.

Yes, ethereum can be relied upon to hold it in the long run. The value of ethereum will increase, but it will always be under bitcoin. However bitcoin is best for long-term investments and provides higher returns.

I think ETH is still a very good project. If ETH solves the throughput problem, it will become the top project.

i believe it's not right to compare this two, since when it comes to usage it's very different. Maybe for now Bitcoin is the greatest maybe because of the pioneer reasons but it doesn't mean that Ethereum will be second to it forever. I mean we all know that a very constant thing in this world is changes, but i think it will be taking more time in order for ETH to overtake BTC. What i know is Ethereum has a very bright future ahead. I think most of the people here will be agreeing with me.

the only usage that ethereum has is to use it for ICOs, that is by design and you can not change that. but at the same time this means if there are more ICOs then there is more hype and the price of ETH would rise but if the number of new ICOs starts to decrease and if finally with all the ICO bans around the world they stop to even exist then ETH price can fail and even fall down to zero because there is no more usage for it anymore.
add to that all the problems that this platform is experiencing like the $5-$6 fee that you currently have to pay for small transactions, then you see it doesn't have a good future.

What you are saying about Ethereum is quite true,many people could not hold Ethereum for a very long term because of the temptation to convert it to fiat currency easily. Also because of the level of Ethereum price growth many people are not investing more in it, they prefer devalued tokens instead.

BTC is like gold and ETH is like foreign currency of big countries. Both of them are good to hold but holding gold is much better.

I have faith in Ethereum. I think Ethereum is popular. There are many predictions that this year ETH price will exceed $1500

I do think that Ethereum can be useful as a long-term hold although at the moment its value is still closely tied with Bitcoin and the two generally move up or down together. With a decent recovery in Bitcoin back over $13,000, however, I think we could also see Ethereum being valued at between $1,500 and $2,000 as beyond its usage for ICO it is more transfer friendly as has greater utility.

I'm holding so many ethereum too, After sharding release and there will be no more congestion to the ether blockchain and that means if more dapps can run smoothly on ethereum. Remember the total transaction in the ethereum network is more than bitcoin and I guess that's the main point.

Difficult to believe that some of altcoins can replace bitcoin. But etherium is one of the strongest from the top. May be in two-three years we will see huge changes. Why not?

Ethereum vs Bitcoin? I will choose both because these coins are the best for holding especially for long term like 3-5 years. I'm pretty sure that you'll get a ton of profit if you do that.
