Why do older people like investing in Gold/Silver?

People tend to invest in metals because the value is realistic unlike virtual currencies, again it is still risky but very minimal. I think they understand the value of gold and silver better than any other investments like securities and VC since those metals are used long time ago and they believe that the value will appreciate as years go by.

I think because old people are used to it and always invest in an old school way, that is why old timers are investing in Gold or Silver. Plus people who are old enough does not give too much attention to what is new now, as we know investing in cryptocurrency is just new compared to investing in gold or silver and most people does not know cryptocurrency yet, specially to older people they do not give too much attention to what is new and trend today.

First of all gold or silvers do not depreciated as time goes by. So they know that investing on gold and silver is actually a risk free investment. Where as bitcoin has no certain future and is filled with unknown risks. More over, they are from another generation, thus they are unsure to adopt the current technology. As a result they tend to invest on something they have seen giving them profit.

I'm not one who would invest in precious metals, but I have noticed that a good amount of the older generations are pretty keen in investing in these metals. They see it as a way to bet against the market, and a security that will always be safe -- even in the times of a market downturn/country failure as a whole.

I personally wouldn't even want to buy these metals in those events, as I don't see the reason to. I'd rather invest in securities that go up when the market shits itself (Payroll lending companies and so on and so forth)

I think that those people who are still preferring to invest on gold and silver are still not well knowledgeable about how cryptocurrency is very profitable if you will just focus on trading.

Yes its very much true that old people invest their money in gold and silver rather than investing in these risky cryptocurrencies.The possible reasons for it might be that the value of gold and silver eventually rise over time and even if the rate is down the dip is very minimal so risk is less and returns are more.On the other side they might not understand the technology behind these coins and being very volatile and risky they prefer to stay away from this market.Moreover scams and warnings are increasing day by day so it could be best reason for them for not investing in cryptocurrencies.

Investing in Gold and Silver does have value and spot price fluctuates regularly. The prices often move inversely to the value of stock markets and currencies. There are also larger fluctuations in times of political and economic uncertainly. This can all get quite complex but for many people there is money to be made in buying during the dips and selling at the peaks. Some people may try to make money speculating the collectors market on limited minted silver products , if they can buy at lower releases prices and try to resell on the secondary market. likely lots of other reasons why gold and silver is a sound investment and it does have lots of important industrial and medical uses, some very interesting physical properties, as well as historical uses as currency and store of value.

Older people have their unique way in looking at things and understanding how it works and how to prepare for a lot of stuff in life.
My grandfather would invest gold jewelry back then when he used to have extra extra money. He cited that these stuff are
worth more in the future and if emergency situations does arise, you can easily sell or pawn them to get cash.
Precious metals are also solid investments, gold and silver has always been good in the market and it's prices are very satisfactory over the years.

Mostly older people don't know about technology and stick with the conventional stuff like gold and silver, they also don't even bother to try weird stuff like on the internet because it is not their time anymore. Also, they feel safe when they have Gold as their finance backup for their sons when they died.

Maybe because gold or silver already been everyone's common investment for a long time. You know, it's like habit already. When they have money and want to invest, their choice will straight to buy golds or silvers. My parents are like that too, when they have money, they will buy gold because they all know gold is a great investment, and safe of course.
And also older generation don't really understand technology, not all but mostly. They wouldn't know something like blockchain, cryptocurrency and such. It's kinda hard for them to accept. So it's understanding if they prefer a more 'traditional' investment rather than stocks, digital currency and so on.

Because gold and silver have a long history of being valuable, think about how many 1 oz gold coins you need to buy a car and you will find that even 50 years ago you will be able to get a car with the same amount of gold and the same is true about almost anything, gold is money the government cannot print and that is why people still buy it today.
