I think it's because gold and silver have been very useful ever since. even before there is money, they may use gold and silver. well, gold and silver have so many functions, that they keep their prices up each year, and become an excellent investment tool.

The earliest form of money was in the form of gold and silver coins and they were accepted all over the world. The banknotes and coins are relatively new and the first banknote was produced only during the 7th century AD (China).

This cannot be so questionable since you are talking about the oldest form of money. Precious metals existed long ago and has since then been made a reference to once greatness and wealth. When you have more gold or silver then you can be like a king who can bought anything. Now maybe the younger generation have a new gold, bitcoin which is rather more imaginary yet valuable as it is in digital form. The old ones treasure their own gold while us we have this new technological golds to use.

I'm not one who would invest in precious metals, but I have noticed that a good amount of the older generations are pretty keen in investing in these metals. They see it as a way to bet against the market, and a security that will always be safe -- even in the times of a market downturn/country failure as a whole.

I personally wouldn't even want to buy these metals in those events, as I don't see the reason to. I'd rather invest in securities that go up when the market shits itself (Payroll lending companies and so on and so forth)

Does anyone here know the reason behind people loving precious metals?
Older people today like to invest in precious metals like gold and silver because it is very valuable in their past times. They do not invest in bitcoin because it is not in their trend or it is new to them, which they hesitate to invest with bitcoin.
I agree, the past or the history is playing a big role for the old people because they believed that since it is existed ever since from the old age then it is very trustworthy and a must to invest because gold and silver is what the best investment for them since the ancient people are already using it but they should think about acceptance of the new technology because the only thing that is fixed is change.

Crypto currency is obviously for the people active to use in social media  and other digital system like computer and cellphone, for the older people investment of crypto currency is not compatible for them because of technical struggle due to older situation that's why they choose to invest in Gold and Silver for one time investment.

Old people likes old technology.

Also, in the end, Crypto currencies still have reliability and acceptance problems. while Gold and Silver don't.

I think they need stability and gold is the right choice for them. Besides, gold and silver are quite popular and are accepted almost everywhere in the world. Besides investing, it can also be used as jewelry and some expensive items. Instead of depositing savings in banks, they choose gold because it is much more profitable than the bank.

Older people like to invest in gold and silver because they always keep their asset values safe and unobtrusive like Bitcoin or electronic money. They choose the safest way to keep their property worth certain. Older people are perfectionists and they probably do not want to travel with Crypto.

Old people have old habits and preferences.  They will always invest only in what has been relevant all their lives, and gold is always relevant.

Elderly people think that precious metals are a reliable investment, provided by something material. It is difficult to be rebuilt when I have spent my whole life with definite views.

Well, they are old and it still in their minds that precious metals are still the best investments like gold and silver. For them, it is already proven that golds and silvers are reliable.

Perhaps older people believe that investing in gold or silver is very promising for the long term. Because gold prices will continue to increase over time. So we do not have to think about that. Gold also has a real form. And this may be the reason of the elderly.

It is because of familiarity. Like what we know about the past, searching for gold since it is considered that time the most precious metal. So they still think that hold is second to none.

I think because they dare not speculate, do not take risks with this very risky investment.
gold is low risk, but gold growth is very slow.

Because they have certain intrinsic value other than speculated value because of their use in different areas. I doubt the point that they are pretty famous among investors. That certainly isn't a case, people do prefer diversified investment plan which usually includes certain percentage in gold/silver.

Recently I came across a news that investment in silver is declining steeply because people are shifting their interest to cryptocurrencies.

Its not about the risk , its about their mindset, most of this older people who live in early generations is not knowledgeable about cryptocurrency so they still prefer that traditional way which is gold and silver.

It is simply because older people used to trust gold and silver for a very long time that they couldn't focus on any other investmebt inside the internet because their knowledge is limited. They won't be able to learn about trading as well because they lack in internet knowledge.

investment in gold and silver is very good, there is a physical form and a stable price, maybe this reason is the consideration of older people so they are happy to invest in gold and silver...but if we explain continuously to older people about cryptocurrency, I'm sure they'll be interested.

Because older people may not know about information technology. They do not learn much about cryptocurrency and when they hear about electronic money, they probably will not trust it because it can be tricky. They often invest in what is traditional, such as gold and silver.

Because they are confident that such investments are more reliable. Because gold and silver always have a price.
