Just because no one should be using an exchange as a vault, doesn't mean an exchange has the right to steal from its users.
Requesting a recovery and paying the fee is not compulsory. As I've said above other exchanges doesn't even have that recovery thing.

You must have very low standards of cryptocurrency exchanges if you think that is okay
Oh it seems to me that you consider it low standards when people know what they Accept in the TOS before they use a service. Roll Eyes

I haven't used Bittrex since they started asking for KYC. Before that, they didn't have these 0.25 BTC extortion schemes going on.

Bittrex recently delisted GLC and now users are contacting us unable to withdraw their coins unless they pay a .25 BTC coin recovery fee.  Angry

I guess since their volume has fallen to nearly zero, they have to find some way to pay the bills.
Actually, it was on their Recovery Policy (updated since 2017), not new : https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000961172

Aside from Bittrex's notification about the token being delisted, have you informed people via your newsletter or social media accounts about it? If yes, then you and Bittrex did your part. Also, if the users put their coin/token on exchange, they should know the risks.

I doubt users read the fine print. And yes, we did inform users.

But the reality is the policy is designed like this to make it cost prohibitive for users to retrieve their coins.

Which in your opinion are the best exchanges for crypto-to-crypto (non-fiat) trading that do not require KYC?

Which in your opinion are the best exchanges for crypto-to-crypto (non-fiat) trading that do not require KYC?

I think Binance is mostly fine, at least for now (as long as you're not connecting from one of the restricted countries). Bisq isn't bad either but it's a different thing so it's very limited when it comes to volume and available trading pairs.

The following thread of mine should be able to help y'all a bit:

Have a look at the KYC column of the comparison.

Thank you for the tips. I guess it has to remain Binance for non-fiat trading.

The reputation of Bittrex has been battered by several users posting here because of some past irregularities it had including accusation of selective scamming and inflating data and sending to CMC.

Which would you recommend for fiat trading?

Ever since Bittrex has started locking accounts without notifying their users (including me), that's the start of their business to collapse. Users started to switch to another exchange and we cant blame them. The least thing that they (Bittrex) can do when they make changes is notify its users and they failed to do that. Maybe they notified some or those with higher funds in their account but still its not an excuse.

Which would you recommend for fiat trading?

That depends on what's available at your jurisdiction, it's hard to recommend anything as almost every exchange suffers from various problems, it's more about picking your poison if you really must deal with fiat.

Grin  Absolutely love that poison/fiat analogy

And yes, nearly all exchanges suffer from problems one way or another so it is all about selecting one and taking the plunge, so to speak.

Oh it seems to me that you consider it low standards when people know what they Accept in the TOS before they use a service. Roll Eyes

I haven't used Bittrex since they started asking for KYC. Before that, they didn't have these 0.25 BTC extortion schemes going on.

Binance for Sure. if you wanna get your account frozen with no reason stay in bittrex

Stiff competition is probably one of the reasons they are trying to be very active or else they go down the drain.  I also remember they recently announced that Bittrexx International would stop operating in dozens of countries due to the "uncertain regulations" there... so they have to maximize else where.

I received an email from Bittrex and finally they launched an app for trading, but for now it works for iOs or Apple. I hope they can come up with the app for android users as I think there are more android users out there compared to Apple. I have'nt downloaded it yet on my iPad but as soon I have, I will post my initial feedback on the trades I made using the app.

Is it too little too late for them?

As logfiles mentioned competition has been fierce for so long so either they try to turn the tide and lift Bittrex to a higher level or basically they fall in to the cesspit of other trash exchanges

Well, Bittrex and Poloniex used to (completely) dominate the crypto-exchange volume back in 2016, until Binance made awesome progress in late 2017. Right now, "all" of Bittrex's volume is less than the top three trading pairs at Binance.

If Richie really wants to compete with Binance, he'll have to make "tough decisions"... and by "tough decisions", I mean requiring less KYC. He seems to be playing real safe as of now, let's see if he changes his style.

Bittrex has too many complaints in this forum and I myself experienced one those complaints that was logged here which is they suspended my account without notifying me. They asked me to send documents to prove my identity. Its like they put my funds in hostage unless I send them my IDs which I think is wrong. My funds in Bittrex is not even that big to think that I am into illegal activities.

Bittrex has too many complaints in this forum and I myself experienced... they suspended my account without notifying me...

There is a big community for Bittrex on Telegram where you can look for help and answers.

Thanks for the link. I will join the telegram group and look around. I already joined a bunch of telegram groups like for Binance but it doesn't give much help to those who encountered issues but instead, they will just point them back to creating a support ticket and wait. Sometimes they are more responsive in twitter than replying to support tickets.
