Last past months Sri Lanka's Main Bank (Bank of Ceylon) was banned cryptocurrencies in Sri Lanka. What do you think is the reason for that ? Huh

I don't know about that. because I do not think sri lanka has a big share in the crypto market. so I do not think there will be a big effect that can shake the bitcoin. especially for now there is good news from some countries that make bitcoin more acceptable

Well if BTC ever gets banned in Sri Lanka then it'll be painful for the people there who have made investments and vested their life onto BITCOIN, not yet true ans let us not wish for it to happen because it can also be a big loss as well for the economy. Probably if Sri Lanka gets banned it can be an effect, though it is nor big but it will still affect the market.

I generally thought the Sri Lankan government would try to do anything opposite of what its Indian neighbours do, but I suppose their central banks in South Asia are more aligned. Bangladesh and Pakistan suggest the same and even in Maldives I'm hearing Bitcoin is having a bit of a growing discussion leaning towards conservative approaches.

The good thing for me here is that everyone will start learning to do p2p, learning how to use Bitcoin on their own. That can't be bad, right?

again and again, cryptocurrency banned. this is not a good news to hear. there must be an important reason for limiting crypto activity. this is sad when this community builds the cryptocurrency glory there are countries that do not agree with its existence. Hopefully this is just a temporary ban.

Its no a surprise to hear banning of crypto in some countries. This a s been going on for months and years now. We just have to find a way to make people understand crypto else they will continue to have bad perceptions about the dealings in crypto. As for the banks, I think crypto is becoming a threat to their profit gains and their poor centralized systems

Sometimes different countries ban bitcoin or all cryptocurrencies. It is okay, they just don`t know, how to regulate this sphere and receive correct amount of taxes

Well that is really sad as most countries are now embracing the concept of bitcoin as a mode of payment but i am with high hopes that they will reverse their ban just as Facebook reversed its ban some weeks ago.

Are you sure that Sri Lanka's Bank of Ceylon banned bitcoin? I'm looking for an article that has this news but the results are poor.

This is one of their latest statement: April 16,2018.

Public Awareness on Virtual Currencies in Sri Lanka

They are giving warning to their people but there's no ban.

So there's no ban and about this topic, the statement was it was banned but it's not. This topic should be dumped. And look at the date the news was posted, April 16, 2018. All I think it's just a regulation in bitcoin.

This is a bad news for the whole industry. Sri Lanka is a highly educated country. I believe that their Govt. will rethink and understand its importance soon. Thus it might be accepted there.

Many stories that get circulated as bans are in fact just government warnings of the risks involved with crypto, just as they do about other investments. Look on their governments web sites for real info and not listen to hearsay.

Well I don't have any confirmation on this news but the truth still remains that most banks and government are against bitcoin due to it ability to remain decentralized and not control by any financial institutions, bitcoin is seen by most financial institutions e.g the bank as a threat to they existence so the bank will constantly look for means to discredit bitcoin.

It is because people cannot read. Thy just sensationalise thing and act like idiots. Look at the times bitcoin dropped just based on what some idiot like Morgan said. I mean who cares. So many btc holders are pussies.
HODL or get out. There is no need to ever sell your btc. You spend them  hello>>> not hard to understand.

Some countries feel real threat from crypto and they hate crypto because they can't control it.

Countries like these should you really look at the superpowers if they have banned bitcoin. and those big countries did not even do that. I am also wondering why this would have happen, if it ever did happen,

The truth of the story must be analyzed in several ways
The economy of the country
and the size of the currency trade
And many other factors
Most of the countries that banned BTC have a weak economy
Just a note
