Have any decisions been made on the direction we're to go here?  Has a timeline been laid out?

Lots of good and great ideas have been flowing in, and I'm still in the process of shifting it all through.

I'll form 2-3 proposals (with options) and then submit them for the community for final comments.

The upcoming IRC meeting will probably play quite a big part in the process so please stay tuned for information on when the meeting will be held.

I've still been insanely busy setting up Altcoin.Center, which is why there's been this period of apparent silence. However, processing has been going on all the time and I'm pretty sure the results will be worth the wait.

As of now, I'm leaning towards the idea (by fartbags) of a combined DOPE + DOGE + LTC mining. Just need to investigate the technical side a bit further.

Anonymous chat is on top of the todo list.

Coin mixing / anonymization is the part that is still partially an open question. It's a must feature of course, but there are many good alternatives regarding how it could be implemented, and the comparison between them isn't quite straight-forward. The only thing I can say for sure is that it can not and will not be dependent on any central servers or anything alike.

Pinkcoin has anon transactions in their wallet. But it not open source and they charge a fee get it implement on another coin wallet. They havent mentioned any rates in their ANN page. I dont understand the whitepaper either... flowcharts and all.... but it works somehow. Maybe your coders can take a look at it and they will understand how to recreate one for dope as well?

I don't think you have to chose a single coin to merge mine with. I haven't researched this too much but I believe dogecoin can merge mine with any scrypt coin that has higher mining difficulty. Right now that means you can only mine doge and ltc at the same time.

I don't think that would be necessary, although the option of making DOPE2 PoS/PoW hybrid is on the table anyways.

At this point it does seem there are going to be such significant changes that some kind of exchange will have to take place.

If that will be the case, we'll come up with a method to do it that will make sure the switchover will be fluent and fair.

Yes, exactly. It should be quite possible to make DOPE2 merge mineable with basically any number of [scrypt] coins.

I personally do like the idea of doing this very much. There's clearly lots of potential there.

To me HEMP and DOPE don't seem like competitors, but rather as slightly different siblings of the same family.

Both would benefit from the merged mining.

Having DOGE in the party as well would further stabilize the setup.
