There is a new active mining thread which is self moderated - unlike the old thread which was thinly moderated, the new thread is heavily moderated to remove spammy troll posts (the obvious ones, from known individuals)

New Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=462370.140

The same person keeps posting the same thing at the same time from multiple different accounts. The posts (all duplicates) get reported but no action is being taken.

I noticed a comment in another thread which discusses the problem https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=405950.new#new which suggested the only option was to leave the thread as a free-for-all. With the old seldom moderated thread I can see that concern, however with the new heavily moderated thread the actions of these trolls is only destructive and disruptive. Every troll post is being deleted, but within minutes the same post has been re-added.

We can self moderate the shit out of this thread but it's futile unless mod's step up and clear out the copy-paste-multi-account-trash.

Moderators very rarely moderate self moderated threads. Self moderation is exactly that, you moderate it yourself (OP).

I appreciate that - but there isn't a "ban from thread" option - if there was there wouldn't be a problem.

Can you point out the offenders to me and I can recommend a ban if needed? (super busy atm)

1. Fawn
2. EduardoDeCastro
3. mainline

Definitely all the same person - there are also three other accounts I believe Bargraphics has confirmed are the same person as above:

1. NotOP
2. Sporket
3. truffix

I expect a few more will crop up - it would be good to have an efficient way to deal with this in the future.

So even if someone posts off topic etc you won't remove them because it's down to the owner of that thread?

Thank you Theymos - and sorry for the impending flood of PM's (just anticipating...) - I'll send a message to all offending accounts and see what happens.

Bargraphics:
You're correct in some of your assertions.  I was tired of your fellow "investors" insisting I was Eduardo de Castro, and it was simpler to make this account than to argue.

You're also an alt, created to shill for Terrahash.  You have now deleted the bulk of your posts, but the interweb nevar forgets.  In your earliest remaining post, "[WTS] Terrahash DX-Large 180 GH w/ PSU - First Batch (June 19, 2013, 08:36:02 PM)," made just 19 days after you created this account, you unload your Terrahash preorder.  Speaks volumes, as do all of the Terrahash and now Active Mining posts.

Now you're upset that people are making it difficult for you to apply the same template to your new boss "investment" -- Active Mining.
What you fail to understand is how the internet works:  Your lulzy spins on the Active Mining fiasco, your invite-only #actm chan and the series of started and abandoned self-moderated threads have backfired, and now you're experiencing the Streisand Effect.

As much as I'd love to ban your ilk not just from this forum, but from Bitcoin as a whole, I realize that running to authorities is not an option.  Instead, I'm going to continue making this place as inhospitable to both scammers and their victims.  Though cruel, it's the right chemo to rid Bitcoin of this disgusting  cancer.

All of the alts listed above are confirmed as the same person. Hundreds of identical posts have been deleted. Most of the alts have been PM'ed and asked to desist. The poster is clearly aware they are not welcome.

Mod's please take action now.

Troll admitting to just causing work

(Posting this here, got deleted from the censored thread.)

LOL... Can you all please stop deleting and reposting all those images? It keeps on bumping this thread with no new information in it.

Knowing that your fate is sealed and nothing can be done to change it is... It's emotionally crippling. I'm helping these "shareholders" by giving them a purpose, a target for their anger, and some busywork (deleting my posts) to keep them occupied.  As a bonus, working towards a common cause instills camaraderie.

This sort of thing is crucial for morale during disasters like this one.

Bitdust has joined them in spamming - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=216547

You will likely receive a lot of PMs if we were to PM you for every account that is reposting the images/trolling. I assume this would be more effective so other mods could take care of it. But if you only want PMs I will do that.

How is it you don't see the beauty of this arrangement?  If not for me, you would now have to admit that you have (once again) been had, that (once again) there's nothing left to do but build up a new stash of coin and wait for the next scammer to come along Undecided

Out of context, it seems spammy and, frankly, insane.  Here's the context -- the insane posts that brought this about, accusing me of all sorts of mischief:

The guy who runs MPEx? I guess kleeck was right.

btw Prism, crumbs has said before that he has friends in high places on here. I've asked Ken to move the thread away from BitCoinTroll. Unfortunately a lot of damage has been done to the company over the past 6months including lost online orders, FUD attacks on share price, requests for refunds, general non-functioning thread causing manipulated shareholders to complain to Regulatory Authorities. Any link to VE from this guy?

I have given fair warning to the Troll on this forum who has been instigating a hate campaign for too long now.

The information & proof has now all been given to the buyer to do with as they please (legal action) - (see below), now with their consent I have the approval to post the identity of this Troll.

I am posting in this thread due to believing the most damage has been caused here.

This Troll (Crumbs) along with all their historic accounts and current accounts is none other than everybody's not so favorite Bitcoin eccentric.....

Mircea Popescu

This is also the same for the other high profile accounts pankkake and MPOE-PR.

Which are all controlled by Mircea Popescu.

The proof of this has been sent to the person who paid for my services which cannot and will not be shown on here, due to the backlash this will bring including personal information for him and other users who have trusted him.

Due to the real identity of these troll accounts belonging to Mircea Popescu and how close he believes himself to be to the higher echelons of Bitcoin including the Mods/Admins of this forum, i don't believe this post to last long.

The only advice I can give is do not trust any of your data or personal information with this person as it is not safe.

I have been paid by a member of this board and high value shareholder within the NeoBee security.
I was approached by them through an 'advert' I had placed within a site on the 'DarkWeb'.

With their permission I am broaching this subject on this thread, as through my research into certain identities I have seen first hand the damage they have caused this online community.
They may be posting the full researched information on the NeoBee thread of this user(s) if this does not come to an immediate stop.

Below I am giving a not very 'cryptic' hint to them that they will know in the hope that this stops their online disruption before it gets anymore out of hand.

This user(s) goes by multiple names however I will refer to them only as Crumbs as that is the username they are more famously known for (bar their 'real' online and public persona)

Dear ActM_Thread.

I understand that above all else, you long to be taken seriously -- to be able to call your bag of virtual dicks "holdings," to be treated as a real, adult investor in a honest-to-gosh company.
For others to stop spraying you with virtual coffee as soon as you bring up your "virtual investment" in "...a virtual identity [sic] totally owned by the Active Mining Corporation (Belize) that represents both itself and its profits."
I get it.
I understand.

Rejoice!
The Missouri Securities Division is taking you srsly -- Ken's being investigated for securities fraud, a very "mature" crime, just like a real grownup!

Probably because they can make new accounts as fast as you can ban them.

When the subject of buying BTC with Paypal comes up, I often remember this:

We are starting to see Theymos ban these users now, thank you.

However it is unfortunate that we have to PM him with each one of these alts names after they spam 50-200 posts of the same garbage.

Maybe there will be newbie limits once again.

I'm wondering what the point of banning an account is, crumbs is currently using like a dozen of them, and it's not like accounts are hard to make. Why not just sit a bot on your thread and delete posts from known bad usernames?

I'm wondering what the point of banning an account is, crumbs is currently using like a dozen of them, and it's not like accounts are hard to make. Why not just sit a bot on your thread and delete posts from known bad usernames?
Over 40 Spam posts deleted just today.

What is going on? Why are these users not banned?

Probably because they can make new accounts as fast as you can ban them.
Or, how about this brilliant idea:

Except that all Tor exit nodes are soft-banned here automatically. You need to pay a registration fee if you register using Tor.

wait, you can pay money and then post through TOR?   is that payment per exit node, or all of them?

Yes, it applies to your account.

Someone should try it and post a screenshot of the registration fee page. I don't think anyone's done that yet.

BTW, this month the forum collected about 0.17 BTC from registration fees, which is amazingly high considering that fees are usually around 0.003.

Whoops, I guess I forgot to remove the old Tor ban when I added the new system. It should work now.

Nope, evil is so cheap here and you only need to pay 78000 satoshi for that lol.
