I never met an honest bug, but I have met an honest-to-goodness market manipulator.

This x1000. Gox managed to manipulate the market. They will reopen and every single insider at gox is going to be filthy rich....

Some running an exchange this incompetently shouldn't be on the board of the Bitcoin Foundation.

Please everyone sign the petition: https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/petition-to-remove-mark-karpeles-from-the-board-of-the-bitcoin-foundation

It doesn't cost anything and only takes a few moments of your time.

Everyone with a brain and any knowledge of economics knew this was coming it's just no one could predict exactly when or what would spark it. The price was unsustainable with such a small market depth. Don't kid yourselves, Bitcoin adopters are still a very tiny group. We have been host to a lot of speculators which always drives the price up until they are done speculating.

Once Bitcoin settles down at a reasonable price we can start using it seriously for actual commerce and not shitty speculation.

From Service Discussion:
No, withdraws are not happening.

MTGox has continually thorough the shutdown made a small number of what appear to be dust-cleanup transactions. Thats all these appear to be...

Ironically, someone of them like TXID: ed7ffa58fef651adaf1281ad10e98a4399eb2be40950345c7ccb7c8f76f067e1 in their liast are spending immature coinbases  (45d45286bac04311684ab7716ab170b50781cde6b094d9a644fb89ca07ae6888:31 is a coinbase with 67 confirms as I write this) and so it's not a valid transaction.  So even after all this time and weeks of outages for fixes MTGox is still producing invalid transactions.

The ntxid field is somewhat new, I first noticed it there a week-ish ago.

@rammy2k2

I don't want it to go down. Just don't want it to go up just yet. Hey lets forget we are all still in the dark when it comes to Gox. Anyone seen Mark in the last 24 hours ? Could he be sipping frappuccinos on a private island as we type or maybe he's deep in the gox code working his ass off for his customers.

Me wishing the market one way or another has no effect either way so chin up dear chap Smiley

It's fascinating how the price plays on the psyche.

Someone claims MtGox is insolvent -> price goes down -> news must be right -> price goes down.

Someone claims things will be better -> price goes up -> that someone must be right -> price goes up.

Y'all might want to read gmaxwell's comments on reddit before you get too excited.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1ymwzj/mtgox_still_authoring_invalid_transactions/

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

A company that's already embroiled in multiple lawsuits and government investigations is hardly an attractive takeover target.
