Does cpuminer track when the pool changes difficulty? I'm mining on waffle pool, which now has the option to set the difficultly in the password. Previously the difficulty was always set to 512.

Since my test rig running cpuminer is only about a 1 MH/s, I tried reducing the difficulty to 256. What's supposed to happen is that the difficulty is set by the pool to 512 at first, then reset to the desired value with the first block change.

But what I'm seeing with cpuminer is that it always thinks the difficulty is 512, even after a block change. Here's the relevant info lifted from the screen output a few minutes after starting (and definitely after a block change):

Code:
=================================================================================
 (2s) | 1.37/0.84 MH/s | A: 30 R: 1 HW: 0
Connected to uswest.wafflepool.com:3333 diff 512 with stratum as user HIDDEN
=================================================================================

- and -

Code:
 [2014-05-25 07:01:25.1368] New Job_id: 29e7 Diff: 512 Work_id: f7b5164b

Note that I'm sure that the Wafflepool feature works because I've made the same change on my Dual Miner rig, which uses gcminer. I can see in the log that it starts out with a difficulty of 512, the within a minute changes to 256.

So maybe cpuminer gets the difficulty up front and never changes it when the pool indicates that it's changed. I guess that this is just a cosmetic issue, since the difficulty stated by the pool doesn't impact hashing on the client. But it would be nice if cpuminer reported the current difficulty accurately.

Was I helpful?   BTC: 3G1Ubof5u8K9iJkM8We2f3amYZgGVdvpHr

Has anyone changed their fan on their Gridseed Blade?  I saw someone mention they used a Noctua NF-A9x14 PWM on litecointalk.org.  Right now its in an extra room but I might move it to my living room when I buy a couple more.  Would like a quieter option if possible.

I'm running a few of mine without fans altogether.  I sandwich the ones without fans between 2 that have fans.
They're also 47k volt modded & so are prone to be a bit hotter than un-modded.
I've had no problems.

Please, can anybody help me?

I tried a lot of versions of cpuminer and cgminer with Gridseed support, windows and linux (bamt, debian based). And the result is always the same. The blades seems to be working but they do not submit work to the pools.

This is my last try with cgminer  (It is  :

Thank you

I am running cgminer on Windows 7 - 64 bit with no problems ...

I am trying to KISS ...like simple .bat file ...:

"cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://usa.wemineltc.com:3336 -u your_worker_name  -p your_pass
--gridseed-options=baud=230400 --gridseed-options per_chip_stats=1,freq=838,chips=40 --hotplug 5"

Hope it helps...

And the script calling cgminer:

Please, ant idea? If I buy a Raspberry Pi Would it work?

Thank you

I am running cgminer on Windows 7 - 64 bit with no problems ...

I am trying to KISS ...like simple .bat file ...:

"cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://usa.wemineltc.com:3336 -u your_worker_name  -p your_pass
--gridseed-options=baud=230400 --gridseed-options per_chip_stats=1,freq=838,chips=40 --hotplug 5"

Hope it helps...

ZiG

Thank you for your answer. I tried starting like you, but the same, 10.92 Mhs but WU:0.0 and no submissions to the pool.

Have you tried it on a different pool? I have had a blade and 20 Gridseeds going on cgminer with no issues. Recently switched to cpuminer from Sandnor just because of the hot plug BS.

I am on vacation right now and do not have access to it. I have used this version of cgminer http://cryptomining-blog.com/2396-download-the-latest-cgminer-3-7-2-with-support-for-gridseed-gc3355-asics/

Got it working!!!

How do I specify which device to use? I would like to point one gridseed to one pool, and the other gridseed elsewhere

Fantastic!

That one question I would not know I never experimented with nor do I know if the program is capable of doing this such type of work.

Okay. I know with CGMiner you can tell it to use device 0, and the other one will be off

cpuminer does not support concurrent mining to different pools like cgminer. You will have to specify specific devices under different instances with cpuminer.

I tried that, but then it went back to my old issue of failing COM port. Work never gets sent to device.

P.S.

Is there any way to solo mine with this. I tried, but it keeps trying to start stratum and finds it cant.

I'm gonna give Stratum Proxy a try and see if I can connect my Gridseeds to my wallet that way...I'll let you know if it works

The "hot plug" problem.
I need a program that recognize the blade on win7 without plug-unplug.

Solved! Finally it was a problem of the PSU. Probably it was defective.

By the way, minereu.com Support team helped me very much.
Thank you all.

Are there any TUTS on how to solo mine to a local wallet on the same machine Windows machine the Gridseed 5 chips are plugged into?  I keep getting stratum error messages when I point my miners to a wallet with Sandors CPUminer.

I'm building a mining rig at the moment and these tunings will help for sure.
Thanks.
