The obvious redundancy of these posts is just too obvious  I'll wager the probability that more than a quarter of posters in this thread have advised coins they have not invested in themselves as below 0.5%  How about the fact, that people indeed invest in the coins they think are superior? +1 |

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

How can a coin with a one minute blocktime achieve "10 second transactions" regularly enough to warrant using it as a headline feature? Sure, you might hit the odd 10 second time for first confirmation (you could be lucky and hit 1 second) but you could just as easily get 50 seconds or 59 seconds. And how much did you pay the editor of this article to let this and other ropey claims/opinions through as news? Would/did coindesk have published this article? |

Can someone explain the concept of creation only through proof of stake algorithms rather than mining?

Like mining, in POS the person who forges a block gets a reward. In mining, these coins are created out of thin air (inflation that devalues the coin). In POS, the block will contain a number of transactions. Each of these would have paid a transaction fee to be in the block. It is these transaction fees, collected together, that are the reward in POS. The more transactions in a block, the higher the reward. The more the POS crypto is used, the more transactions there are. |

I agree, in order of what looks most promising in 2014, to me: BTC DRK BC then NXT I also like the idea behind PrimeCoin. DarkCoin seems to have the fastest transaction times in my experience -- about 30 seconds on average. Much more ideal than BTC's 20 minutes or so. |
