Stellar is trying for that market, but I think it will fail. The team is not really appealing to your average venture capitalist.
Ripple got it so wrong after a brilliant start. But don't rule it out, it's standing its ground, and no doubt learning from its mistakes.
Otherwise, hold your alts for 15 minutes, and sell.
And beware of flavour of he month coins.
I'd invest 10 BTC in Goldcoin at slightly less than the current price rather than put the same in whatever X is in vogue.

Don't know if this is already mentioned but it would be a good idea to start scrypt mining and you can switch witch coin you mine per miner whenever you see that it is more profitable to be mining another coin. Or you could research some coins and invest in whichever coin you believe in and want to do well as a currency.

With BTC taking hit with bad news lately and free falling in price, I wanted to see people's opinion on which coin is going to take off in 2014. I need your advise to diversify my portfolio. Thanks in advance for your help!

DGC and RBY are my hopefuls.
Both have extremely dedicated developers. Both of which are very good at what they do.
RBY is a bit more (visibly)active dev-wise atm but DGC has been at it longer by far.

Crackcoin is a solid coin that just got added to cryptsy and bittrex.
It's cheap now from people selling of pos stake but it will surely rebound in around 2 weeks when the proof of stake minting is over.

I will keep these two probably for long term. So these two are the best altcoins to invest. (just my opinion) |
