Looks like Monero set to take the altcoin throne now.

Monero suffers from a fatal flaw, blockchain bloat. Meaning slower transaction times, and a lot of unnecessary waste of hard drive space.  If your looking for a sold alternative with all the benefits of Monero, but a coin that avoids the downfalls, consider Boolberry. Boolberry blockchain has a feature where when the blockchain starts to get too big it can pruning its self, cutting as much as 70% of the bloat. The code is a lot more solid. Monero is basically a cut and paste job of the Cryptonote source code. Boolberry is rewritten with a faster more efficient algorithm, the code is neat and tight, and is basically a meaner cleaner rewrite of the orginal Cryptonote source code. Its Monero's superior in every way.

PND is a fine coin with a small but loyal community, but now might not be a good time to buy, since it was pumped to about 400% of its value in less than a month.

Except a Scrypt ASIC miner will probably kill it for fun ...
Impossible it is a POS coin now...

Today Pandacoin has skyrocketted to 9 satoshi... Some crazy volume on mintpal...

What I like very much is the geolocation feature of CheckCoin

The best green CryptoCurrency of the future is EnergyCoin.
We need some time but wait and see.

My vote is for Darkcoin and Reddcoin.
At the starting Dogecoin seems promising but now it is down. SO, I think Darkcoin and Reddcoin has better chance than others.

Why's almost every one write the list of the coins but without evidence? I would be more interested to know the reasons that influenced on your decision to choose one or other coin like algorithm/the mission of the coin/developers/ other features

Monero has better liquidity. I don't need faster transaction times. I need to know that I can buy large amounts of the coin at a stable price. If I tried to buy $100,000 in BBR the price would skyrocket, and no matter how quickly it got there, they would lose value by the time they left my wallet--not cool. The Monero market has shown it can absorb bigger buys without tanking or skyrocketing the price. That's not an issue for buying a video game, but it's a big issue if you're trying to send $10,000+ to an international account.

We haven't seen the best altcoin yet!

Here is a typical moot point - if there is ''the best altcoin'' or not. I think in this case vtbean79, who has begin this thread, was wondering about the existing coin and didn't think about ideal altcoins.  Following this logic, one of the altcoins is the best. The question is what coin is the best?  Smiley

Have a look at Checkcoin [CKC] - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=715563.0

It's one of the few coins that I think has got real potential to spread worldwide. The coin is backed by a real company from the Netherlands and the team is completely transparent. You can even call them during office hours. Their premise of geolocation faucets is unique and the possibilities are mind-boggling. I wouldn't be surprised if some months/years from now, companies like Facebook offer to buy their work. Seriously guys check it out  Wink
