Can any ALTCOIN ever overtake Bitcoin ?

In my opinion, no altcoin is going to overtake Bitcoin as the primary cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin has a substantial first-movers advantage over other cryptocurrencies.
 Even in the height of the end-of-year 2017 frenzy when Bitcoin transaction fees were ridiculously high,
no crypto came close to taking its spot.

Watch on the market. Any BTC movements lead to grow or crash. It mean that all (most) alts have a strong correlations. How they can overtake with such dependencies? Nothing. For more profit we can use alts but BTC will live long

Bitcoin will always be the top for the next few years. and Altcoin anywhere can't overtake now or in the years ahead. Because Bitcoin is an ico of crypto currencies. and very much in demand by everyone. So from that Bitcoin will always be the top.

I don't think that's possible, because altcoin is an alternative coin while bitcoin is the main coin and king in the crypto world. the price difference is also very far away, so it's very unexpected that altcoin can replace the position of bitcoin on its throne.

I don't think any altcoins today can overtake bitcoin because bitcoin has overruled the system. This is the most expensive coin right now and everyone protects bitcoin value. It may be volatile but the price will not go down like any other altcoins due to its certain stability.

this could happen. but not in the near future. currently competing are Ethereum and Ripple (XRP). the 2 coin developers are indeed very active in making breakthroughs and competing to get big partners. other coins need extra work to be able to get big partners and rich investors who are interested in entering the crypto world.

Back in mid-2017, Ethereum was so close to overtaking Bitcoin, as far as the market capitalization is considered. There was a difference of only around $2.5 billion. If ETH can get so close, then definitely some other altcoin will be able to overtake BTC in the future.

Everything that you have written here looks realistic. Judging by the current market situation, Bitcoin will never give its leadership to any other cryptocurrency. If many tokens can die, BTC will not vanish.

In the near future it it would be an impossible mission to any alt to take over the market lead from BTC. XRP and ETH are the closest but BTC is dominating the market with over 50%.

In as much as i want to stay open for change this actually is not possible. Bitcoin has the highest market cap and also the most valued cryptocurrency in the crypto community. It is also one of the major cryptocurrecy used in making transactions so i don't see how any altcoin can overtake it.

It will take a very long while before that can happen, because bitcoin still dominated the crypto market, for that to be done, bitcoin dominance will have to reduce, but looking at the market and the way regulations is happening in the space, it will take a long while if it's going to be ever possible.

No they cant. Bitcoin will always be at the top and we should just accept it. I don't see a point if an altcoin over thrown bitcoin. Will it be beneficial for everyone? There will be no changes on crypto regardless if bitcoin is at the top or not. The market will still be bear and bitcoin will be number one again because that is where btc is supposed to be.
