Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Just moved some coins I had on the site for a short period to try and trade them over. When I went to withdraw the site went down (502). Not sure if it was something I did Smiley.

Update: to Vircurex's credit the site was back up within a few minutes and I withdrew with no issues.

Few days ago I wrote them three e-mails to the address customerservice@vircurex.com
but no reply received. Attempts to contact via Skype too, failed  Sad

In the past, I have contacted them just using support@vircurex.com (and support@cryptostocks.com) but that was a long time ago. It was a valid address, however, and they replied from the same email.

No idea if they are even paying attention to it anymore...

Thanks for the address, but result same - silence  Sad

But there is also a positive moment - coins at last reached. Smiley
Ten days passed from the moment of withdrawal coins.

I checked my account for the first time in months. No new announcements.

However, I have a small fraction of bitcoin available that I didn't have before, 0.00181734 BTC.

It's below the minimum to withdraw, in fact it's below their withdrawal fee, but I find this interesting because it suggests SOMETHING is happening with the frozen balances. At this rate and assuming their volume stays the same, I'll easily be dead before I get my entire balance. But I thought it was worth noting.

I wonder how much farther they'd be along if no one had emailed support badgering and asking questions

They don't seem to respond to any email, but someone still is behind it.
After my login was not working anymore, it was magically restored, without any response whatsoever. However, my NMC withdrawal was conveniently "not processed", there is no transaction for it and it was deducted from balance.

Hello, guy out there, could you check the e-mails - "NMC withdrawal not processed". That's all, after that I won't curse at you anymore.

Good times. The important bit is on the last line, "+0.22052108" (BTC). Made that much profit in 5 seconds just by shuffling value between a few different currencies.

Like I said... good times. *sigh*  Cool

Kumala isnt very responsible person.He/she didnt answer any questions related with vircurex/cryptostocks for a long time.I have also 10+ frozen BTC on his exchange.I was unable to login when the frozing accounts. I withdrew other unfrozen coins after that. I didnt deposit any coins to them.

I hope you will get an answer soon.

Are you serious here? Vircurex has been dead for over a year now.
The volume is so so small and all balances are in minus, so only when people are stupid enough to deposit there, will there be funds so other can widraw.

Sorry about you loss though Sad

So why is this site still going? Can there really be any profit in it?

I have some funds frozen so I check in from time to time but I'm always surprised that the site it still there.  Roll Eyes

As BrianM mentioned above, "when people are stupid enough to deposit there". This is Kumala's profit. Sometimes you actually can withdraw small amounts but it is a bit of a lottery. Around 50% of the withdrawals get stuck, and you have no chance to unlock these withdrawals.

Edit: Concerning the withdrawal problems things have improved somehow. All the unsuccessful withdrawals in my account have been refunded.

Take a look at first post in this thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49383.0

Kumala (the owner) has closed it. It is done. Game over.
