I'm not sure if you have been paying attention. A wallet release has been fixed that doesn't require checkpoints. http://ghostbackwards.com/ Please read the topics before you start to jump to conclusions. I've updated my wallet from raw without any checkpoints and it's been working flawlessly ever since. (for windows though by the way)
