UPDATE

We now have some new servers being configured and the new "Guncoin Blockchain Explorer" site will be up very soon!

We are also in talks with Dabs right now to move forward with using his escrow service for BTC contributions to the IPCO.  More information to come on that one ASAP.

Hey guys,

I've been contacted to help with the escrow for this. It will be very simple to understand and to get involved. I am to keep a public list or spreadsheet of all investors, their forum nicks (you may remain anonymous), and the amount of BTC they have invested, and their Guncoin address.

To keep it simple and transparent, I will use the tried and tested method of accountability which is just one investor BTC address which I control, and a link to that address in the blockchain. Everyone can see all incoming transactions.

For the sake of security of everyone's coins, refunds will only be processed AFTER the coin has failed launch, at the same time. This will be a "cold" wallet address, that's why.

No refunds will be issued for investors who change their mind. If you are not sure, do not send. If you send, you are committed and you will receive the proportional amount of Guncoins as indicated by the developers and website.

If the coin fails to launch in a satisfactory manner all BTC will be refunded back to their original addresses, less any bitcoin transaction fees. (Usually 0.0001 per 1000 bytes.)

This is my escrow thread if you want to do some research.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=234939

For investors sake, please use a wallet where you control the private keys and can sign a bitcoin message. Search the forums on how to do this. Do not send BTC directly from an exchange or a web wallet. In clearer terms, DO NOT SEND from btc-e, cryptsy, mtgox. Use a wallet that is under your direct control such as bitcoin-qt, electrum, blockchain, armory, or bitcoin for android.

In case of disputes, I will honor whoever sends a signed message using the bitcoin address that sent the coins. Bitcoin-Qt can do this.

As I understand it, you can wait for the wallet to be launched to get your Guncoin address from there, or you will be contacted by the Guncoin devs to arrange for your wallet.

Any refund, will be sent to the address that originally sent it (or one of the addresses if there is more than one) as reported by blockchain.info UNLESS you can sign a message using that address to send it to another address.

I will charge a flat 1% fee, regardless of the amount of BTC collected by this IPO, deducted at the time I send the funds to the dev.

I will send the BTC to the Guncoin devs only after the coin has launched, the wallet is working, the investors have received their Guncoins, and the miners and Guncoin network has reached at least 48 hours or 1440 blocks. I think this is fair, if the coin is 2 days old and everyone got their Guncoins, then I can release the IPCO BTC funds to the devs.

For investors, what you could possibly lose is the time any coins you send until launch. This means your BTC are stuck until at least 2014-05-03.

For the Guncoin team / developers, you don't get anything until after 2014-05-03 (48 hours or 1440 blocks where each block is 2 minutes.)

If Guncoin agrees to these terms, then I will post a GPG signed message containing the bitcoin address for IPO. Investors may choose to remain anonymous (identified only by their Guncoin address), just send the BTC to the address indicated, and send me a PM with transaction details, preferably with a signed bitcoin message.

If you do not know how to sign a bitcoin message, please take the time to learn it.

I am not responsible for any coins sent directly to the Guncoin team on their website.
I am not responsible for any coins sent directly to the Guncoin team other than to the contract address.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Dabs

Reminders:

1. Please send from a BTC address that you control, or can access the private keys.
2. Send me a PM or post here with your transaction details, preferably with a signed bitcoin message using bitcoin-qt or compatible wallet.
3. Don't forget to include a bitcoin transaction fee so your transaction gets confirmed and included in a block.
4. I am only responsible for coins sent to this address.
5. No refunds. Refunds are only processed if the coin fails to launch. Until then, no coins are moving.

For uniformity, follow this format when sending your IPO details:

Quote
1-your-bitcoin-address
Sent 5.05 BTC, ForumNick, Email@address.com
The-signature-of-the-one-line-message-above.

Example:

Quote
1DabsXmraEr18jdEryck8jzcFku873xmRf
Sent 5.05 BTC, Dabs, Dabs@bitcointalk.org
IDlni4Xn2vZyedLMPfjtj4TECBzqpCSSm4kqxpRPA9RW71ZANfVaZJLrIQdaU6Zup2kvVG8/QT8MugruXdU0nqk=

Then include the transaction details, either just the ID or a link to blockchain.info.

If you are not yet a member of this forum, send me an email to my address that signed the escrow contract. You'll figure out how to do this if you can verify my signature. (okay, if you're lazy, go to the official website, my email address is posted there.)

*edit* fixed some typos, clarified terms.

Now would be a good time to begin writing articles for popular Pro-gun blogs such as "The Truth About Guns" (guntruth@me.com) to gain exposure among firearm enthusiasts.

Yes sir!  Actually, we have been in contact with many Gun Rights, Preppers and 2nd Amendment supporting organizations over the last few weeks getting them information on Guncoin.  It seems that most of these places end up wanting to re-post the article by Bitcoin Magazine (http://bitcoinmagazine.com/10434/guncoin-2nd-amendment/).

Granted, it is a fantastic article, but it would be nice to see some "new blood" out there.  That is a great idea, we will see if we can seek out some more journalists to do some more article writing.

Most other coins that have IPO / IPCO launch with the full amount, proportionally divided by the total investment. You don't really know how much you are getting until the IPO is closed. Here, it is a fixed amount, maybe because they are trying to peg a value to it already.

In theory, the amount if BTC you send will give you a proportional amount of GUN, that is worth close to the fiat value of the BTC.

So, 200,000 GUN should buy me a glock or something comparable.

Well, we are interested in what anyone who wants to contribute has to say.  By all means, if any of you are interested in contributing but there is something you do not like about the way that the IPCO is structured, please say so!  We obviously want to get investments, and we want the investors to be happy.  What we did not want to happen is for there to be an extremely large amount of investors and then end up having to give those investors substantially LESS than we currently have on the table.  We are actually limiting the amount of investment we can get in the way it is currently structured.

Please, if you are interested in investing, share your thoughts.

I have put a lot of thought into the IPCO options, and one thing I have kicked around is this...

We mainly don't want people to end up in the situation I talked about above (having to receive LESS than what is listed in the table because of "over-investment").  However, we also do not want to end up with a lot of the initial IPCO going unclaimed.  So, we could still offer the same basic table as a "minimum" that would be increased based on investments.  In other words, whatever is NOT claimed by launch could be split accordingly between the investors.

Any thoughts?

That sounds better. Essentially, investors get a minimum amount of GUN per BTC invested, but upon launching, any left over pre-mined GUN that was not bought gets proportionally distributed to all investors. So there are two parts of the investment, where each investor gets what they pay for, and each investors gets additional GUN if there are any left.

If the limit has been reached, then each investor simply gets what they paid for (as zero is left.)

That looks good. It should be made public either here or on the website, the updated list of investors and how much they will initially get, as well as how much the "bonus" is if no one else invests. Naturally, this bonus gets smaller as more investors buy in.

You basically set a floor.

In the end, there is little difference, because if people "over invest", then everyone gets less GUN, but each GUN is worth more. However, you will get less complaints with this structure.

I spoke to the other team members, and we all have agreed to go this route.  I think everyone will be very happy with the outcome and you are guaranteed a minimum quantity, with good potential to receive more.

Keep in mind, we also have a fiat fundraiser going with about 2 weeks left on it, and those coins are already spoken for with the previous structure.  Currently, the total quantity claimed from the fiat fundraiser is at 2,142,900 GUN.  I do not really expect that to grow much more before it ends.  So, that leaves a total IPCO bounty of 47,857,100 for the BTC investors.  That may change by the end of the fiat fundraiser, but I will be sure to post the final numbers at that time.

I have updated the website to reflect the addition of the mass-split at the end of the IPCO.

Any questions?

Hey GCSupport,

I am considering an investment I have final concerns about the below:

NAME: Guncoin
SYMBOL: GUN
CRYPTOGRAPHY: Scrypt POW (Proof of Work)
MAXIMUM COINS: 500,000,000
PREMINE: 10% (50,000,000) for IPCO Fundraising Contributors
BLOCK REWARDS: 200
BLOCK TIME: 2 Minutes
DIFFICULTY RETARGET: 8 Hours

REWARDS HALF: Every 1,000,000 Blocks

Fundraising and IPO investors have to be protected and of course like the real world should have the highest potential payoff

I know things can still change and may I suggest that on release 1) difficulty re-targets every block via KGW or some other mechanism otherwise solo miners with huge mining farms will instamine millions of the coins within minutes of release. 2) The first 250-500 blocks only reward '1 coin' 3) Reconfigure Block time to every 10minutes or reduce block reward to 40coins so their is a scarcity factor - remember people interested in this coin have HUGE DISDAIN for any currency[crypto or fiat] that is deemed plentyfull without any real value. SCARCITY is a always a good selling point. If you keep the 500,000,000 coins make sure you stress to the Gun/Christian and/or Libertarian crowd that this amount would be over say 100 years and would dwarf the US$ currency in circulation.

Good luck[I am available for PR hire]

The Fundraising should have had 3x-4x rewards but that cant be changed plus the legit excuse can be used that crowdfunding is based on 'support' for concept and not financial gain !

The IPO at this stage needs to restructured to give at least 2x-3x the current reward.

Looking forward to investing when the coins specs and IPO rewards are adusted !

Also remember in the IPO restructure to include a 'faith in project' premium that is

1st week participants share - perhaps a 20% premium[extra coins]
2nd week participants - 15% premium
3rd week - 10%
4th week - NO PREMIUM

As a matter of fact you can announce only in this forum that "if you invest in the current Fundraising as well as the IPO you will also receive 4x of your Fundaising investment.

That represents an extra reward for investing real US$ cash[NO escrow] for the fundraising plus bitcoin in the IPO[escrow protected].

Again looking forward to investing in the IPO and........... maybe even still the fundraising  Wink

As the first Gun coin investor via the Bitcoin fundraiser, I share the same sentiments expressed by hughjays77 regarding the high likelihood of an instamine upon release if the difficulty rating remains at an 8 hours retarget. I advise the implementation of a difficulty retarget every block via KGW.
