Someone invested a bit more. I edited my other post to reflect this. But you can always view the transactions on the blockchain or blockexplorer.

If you cant find a developer, can the launch deadline still be met?

Can you explain more about this:
Quote
10% (50,000,000) of the coins are premined and allocated directly to the initial IPCO Fundraising Campaign contributors.
What are you planning to do with the IPCO exactly? Development? Advertising? Any sort of roadmap yet?

I can see you have attracted a lot of attention outside of BitcoinTalk and I can see this being picked up rapidly by 2nd Amendment supporters. I myself firmly stand by my right to keep & bears arms and feel it is being infringed upon right now in many places in America.

But at the same time I can see this attracting a lot of negative attention from the feds. What exactly are you trying to accomplish with this coin?

Yes, we have extensively tested Guncoin with the Technical Specifications listed in the main post of this thread and everything is smooth as butter.  Therefore, no matter what, we are launching on time May 1st.  We have been asked by a few folks to customize Guncoin further, and those changes are what we are looking at additional developers for.

Now, we have been in contact with a couple developers and will be going over all the specific options for further customization this weekend.  There will be an update after this weekend of what we have decided to do (or not do).  More info to come on that.

The IPCO is being used for quite a few different things.  The $USD Fundraiser that we had originally run (expires in 6 days) has been spent on advertising as fast as it has came in.

The Core Team has already spent a lot of money out of our pockets on initial development, servers, hosting, domains, advertising, web design and more.  Some of the IPCO will be used to counter those personal costs.

Remaining IPCO will be used for further development and customizations and potentially more advertising.

Regarding negative attention from feds, we are not worried about that at all.  We are not offering anything outside of the law here and I believe the feds will see that for what it is.  In fact, we have had some very vocal law enforcement (and retired law enforcement) supporters already.  We are trying to accomplish two goals with Guncoin:  First, we are getting people interested in Cryptocurrency who are not already interested in Bitcoin and know nothing about it.  You can look at our facebook and twitter pages to see the expansive demographic of people interested already.  Secondly, and most importantly, we want people to use Guncoin for their transactions.  It really is a nightmare processing transactions for online firearms-related purchases right now.  PayPal is completely anti-gun and most transactions are currently done with cashiers checks, which in turn makes the transaction process take way longer than needed.

Thank you for the response! I definitely know what its like to spend money out of pocket to launch a coin, not to mention the time you spend.

I definitely see the potential this has to bring attention to crypto currencies from outside the existing community. This is definitely a great niche for a coin. The more I think about it the more I see your point. As long as someone who is selling has an FFL and abides by existing laws there should be no issues.

Very interesting approach to announce a launch so far ahead of time. But I can also see the news of this spreading rapidly. I wonder what the NRA's response would be to this? Have your tried contacting them yet?

UPDATE -

Ok guys, I need your input now on some proposed changes we have been going over, taking into consideration your previous comments and concerns.  We are proposing the following configuration changes and implementing KGW.  I really want to know your thoughts on implementing KGW immediately (block 1) or after 1,000 blocks etc. and also how often to half rewards (or not at all).

CRYPTOGRAPHY:  Scrypt PoW (Proof of Work)
MAXIMUM COINS:  500,000,000
PREMINED:  (10%) 50,000,000 for Fundraising IPCO Contributors
BLOCK REWARDS:  200
BLOCK TIME:  2 Minutes
DIFFICULTY RETARGET:  2 Hours
KGW:  Implemented at block 1,000
REWARD HALF:  1,000,000 blocks

Your thoughts?  We want to make sure that the final configuration before launch is well accepted by the community.

I would recommend for KGW to be implemented after block 1 to help prevent an instamine  by a large miner after the coin's release. Also, changing the cryptographic algorithm to something asic resistant with lower GPU power consumption such as the X11 algorithm would allow the coin to survive in the long term once Scrypt ASICs become more proliferated among the mining community.

Changing to the X11 algorithm wold also increase the coin's short-term popularity as only a few other cryptocoins have adapted this relatively new algorithm. Generally speaking, it is most profitable for miners to mine non-asic cryptographic coins as power consumption is typically lower, thus changing the algorithm would draw the attention of many GPU miners.

UPDATE -

After much consideration regarding changing the Guncoin source, we have almost decided on the final plan...

We are going to implement DigiShield immediately at block #30 to help prevent instamine by large miners/pools.  The rest of the specifications (rewards/block time) will mostly remain the same.

By this weekend, we will also be raising the minimum amount of Guncoin that IPCO contributors will receive and at the same time we will clarify the IPCO process wording on the website to clear some confusion.  We will make an update here with the exact changes when this is finalized.

Thoughts?

could also have kgw implimented after a certain amount of blocks and have the intial 200 blocks or so to have a fraction of the usual block value prevent instamine which also doesnt penalize small miners that rely on pools
