Is there really no source code available?
AppleByte made the decision in the beginning not to release the linux source code, so that the big multipools could not throw so much hash power at the coin that mining for the everyday user became unprofitable. Additionally the official AppleByte pool pays a bonus on each block found so that CPU miners are still able to mine using the pool mining capability we built into the core wallet.

Over the next few weeks AppleByte will be changing its name to ArtByte.
We feel the new name better describes our worldwide purpose, and in fact we bought the domain names for ArtByte when we launched AppleByte. AppleByte is headquartered in NYC. The name AppleByte was a play on the old saying, "Come to New York and take a bite out of the Big Apple". However, AppleByte has grown considerably and has artists around the world, with a social media following of over 78,000 users. Outside the US, the meaning of the name AppleByte is not as clear. Additionally, although the name AppleByte is trademark pending, we believe our music download site (currently named the AppleByte Music Store) is a potential conflict with Apple Inc.'s new music streaming site titled, Apple Music. The trading symbol "ABY" will remain the same. AppleByte/ArtByte (ABY) is traded on Poloniex and Bittrex

I wanted to make a paper wallet so I needed to find out the PUBKEY_ADDRESS. I guessed at it and Poloniex let me withdraw them to the paper wallet. I think polo validates the address before allowing a withdrawl.

We have completed our assessment of the US FinCEN regulations and made the necessary updates to our official pool server, so the pool is backup. Additionally, we decided to remove the 25mhs per miner limits on the pool and welcome all miners. http://pool.applebyte.me

Update on the name change
Some of our sites have been converted to the new name, ArtByte. Some are still in process. Only the name has changed, the trading symbol remains the same. Your wallets do not need to be upgraded.
Bittrex and Coingecko have changed the name to ArtByte.
All our sites can be reached via the links applebyte.me or artbyte.me.

I think this project's just great! I'm an art buff and this is unfortunately the first time I've heard about this coin even though I've been in the crypto space since March 2014. Glad to see it's still alive and kickin! I just recently went to the Carnegie Museum of Art (I'm from Pittsburgh, PA), and loved the museum. Love seeing projects like this that blend my 3 passions in life right now: Music, Art, and Cryptocurrency and the blockchain. I'm also a musician and am sadly painfully aware of just how difficult it is to make any kind of living from music. Happy to see that crypto startups are trying to solve that problem by distributing the power more evenly, or even tilting that power away from the labels and back to the musicians. I wasn't entirely aware of just how bad the music industry's become until I read this: https://www.berklee.edu/news/fair_music_report

Due to the requirements of the NY BitLicense, ArtByte has decided to withdraw from the New York market, effective today.
So the following services are no longer available to New York residents:
Grants and awards Social media tipping apps Official pool server The Orchard (faucet server)
The ArtByte Foundation is a non-profit corporation dedicated to supporting artists around the world, through the technology of digital currencies. Although we believe regulation is good for the digital currency industry, the complexities and costs of complying with New York's far-reaching regulations far exceed those of any other jurisdiction.
We prefer to allocate our funds to supporting artists around the world. It is a shame that the artists of New York will be unable to participate.

What's next for ABY? I picked up a few million to support the project. I also have some VC partners that may be interested in reaching out to you

This seems interesting, but some questions? How can one use these, in a practical manner, at restuarants and concerts like said on the site? Wouldn't they need to sell to BTC (thus hurting the ABY value) then cash out their BTC if they have the means to. Maybe look into sidechain of BTC network? I am in NYC area, a musician and heavily into BTC, so I am interested in this coin.
