I read more into Artbyte because I can't fathom the fact that this coin started in 2014 and yet the the market is so small. To be honest there was nothing noteworthy except for few upgrades taken from other coins. The idea is catchy, to cater individuals who are into arts. Giving 5,000 artbyte coins to featured talents is good but 5,000 is like $40 on today's market. Yes only $40.

So in three years the coin/technology did not grow. I don't think talented individuals would want to gather around with development and progress as slow and as predictable as artbyte.

You would turn down free altcoins with some value?

So in three years the coin/technology did not grow. I don't think talented individuals would want to gather around with development and progress as slow and as predictable as artbyte.

They don't have a dedicated developer which does make it hard to progress technically at a rapid pace.

I am interested in the idea of split payments via smart contracts. For example, a music download has many different people involved. With a smart contract, you could easily split the payment amongst all the different individuals immediately. No quarterly accounting required. No ASCAP. This makes paying artists extremely easy. Will be very disruptive to the music industry and remove the inefficiencies associated. You could even pay sales tax by splitting state, county, and local jurisdictions in the same way.

I can also see ABY used for art auctions. You stake your ABY via smart contract or Lightning network. If you are the highest bidder, you win the auction and pay with your staked ABY. If you do not win the auction, you get your ABY returned to you.

Since ABY is scrypt based, it can leverage Litecoin features and be involved in atomic swaps with Litecoin or even Bitcoin. Then sweep to fiat. LiteBit.eu already lets you sweep from BTC/LTC to fiat. USA, you'd need an exchange like Coinbase to get crypto out to USD.

There are some interesting possibilities on the horizon.

If you are really in this industry from 2014, then it is worthwhile to invest part of the money in the project.

You only invest on performing stocks. Not on dead ones. Or better yet stay in BTC, hodl for life.

I like this art as a coin, because I have also learned art.
Although its development is relatively early, but the development is not very good, the developers work hard.

When ArtByte launched in May 2014, this was before the days of ICOs, so there was no way to raise funds like there is today. So all the devs chipped in and created the coin.

ArtByte is a niche coin, serving the art market. Because it is a niche coin, and is not trying to be the next Bitcoin replacement, the crypto community was slow to see the value.

ArtByte was finally recognized in by crypto investors in June of 2017. The marketcap went from $50,000 to $10,000,000 during the summer.

The coin has very solid tech, taking features from Litecoin, Dash, and Peercoin. And now has activated SegWit, to have access to smart contracts, atomic swaps, etc.

The ArtByte Foundation was funded in the beginning with a 25% premine, designed to be spent over 10 years to reward artists and develop services for the users. Now that the coin has working capital, development has increased substantially. Here is the Roadmap: https://www.artbyte.me/roadmap/

It has to be said that the development of art is not easy. It is a long-term process. Therefore, ArtByte is also going to be hard for its development, but I believe it has a bright future.

This is a great tipping token. I have been looking into tipping and meme tokens for awhile now because I am baffled that so many, in my opinion, mostly useless tokens continue to rise in value dramatically along with much more useful projects. ArtBytes are great for what they are, but should they rise in price 10000%? I see dogecoin, which has no developer, jump by leaps and bounds. It's insane. How can you invest when nothing makes sense?

For a fun token this is one of the oldest, and it still has a good dev team and a devoted community.

Good luck dev team!

Yes, this project has been a little historical, not very good, the market has proved that it may not have a very bright future. Now there are so many excellent encrypted money projects, why do you have to die on this tree? Kiss
