On September 17, 2018, the new enhanced restrictions and requirements for newbies have been introduced on the Bitcointalk forum. In particular, nowadays Newbie must have sufficient activity and earn at least one merit for ranking up to Jr. Member. A lot of meritless users were demoted to Newbies, and now they want to receive one merit for restoring their rank. It is predictable that the merit traders and account farmers immediately became active, and they started distributing per one merit for clearly garbage messages or reports. However, everybody knows that each merit should be given only for a useful post. Therefore I decided to create TOP-200 of the members who support decent newbies which make useful posts and contribute to the forum development. Of course, the list likely contains merit traders and account farmers, but I suppose that most of these members give merits to newbies well-deservedly. The table below shows the user name, his current rank and the quantity of newbies who were supported by this member since the new rules have been introduced on the forum. I will write the known merit sources in bold. The currently reg tagged members will be marked in italic, permanently banned users will be strikelined.
Members who support newbies (Sep 17, 2018 - Oct 18, 2024) Total supported: 24678 newbies (by 5360 members) [1] - the rank that is based on the merit amount regardless of current activity
The chart below illustrates how many newbies have been supported since September 17, 2018.
I remind, please do not beg merits from other members, otherwise you can be red tagged. This post is relevant for October 18, 2024, and has been updated on October 18, 2024.I will publish monthly statistics.

More or less than 500 newbie in total! Interestingly good to know.
Less signature/bounty spammers stock in a newbie account and won't rank up to Jr.
Who's your daddy now? *merit system is godly*
Nice one @Coin-1. Thanks for sharing this one.

Good job, you marked already the known or safe givers as well i see, so it will make it easier to run some check on these. Edit: there are also other "safe people" you can mark in that list

Well that was quick! Have you manage to retrieve already all the user profiles for all TXs right up to this morning in order to do this ?
Edit: The 1.637 is the same I'm getting, so you've certainly nailed it.

Thanks for the statistic. It shows that we always have active members to help deserved newbie rank up.
Yes but those members will ignore on the likes of you. Ripple pump recent days due to the news that PNC Financial Services Group Inc will use Ripple’s blockchain solution xCurrent to speed up overseas transactions held by U.S. commercial clients. PNC is one of top ten largest U.S. banks so the partnership between Ripple and PNC make this pump of XRP.
This post of yours may consider plagiarism since I've read the post at cointlegraph and clearly you just copy it out there with 113 characters including spaces and not giving credits where you've found it. Hope anyone found out if it's really plagiarized content or not and do correct me. will use Ripple’s blockchain solution xCurrent to speed up overseas transactions held by U.S. commercial clients. I guess this sentence he just plagiarized and you can find it in this post https://cointelegraph.com/news/us-financial-giant-pnc-to-use-ripple-technology-for-international-payments

Many of your list, including all 6 of the top 10 who aren't merit sources, appear on my list of likely abusers here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5031341. Please report any other suspicious users on that thread.

It isn't just about giving merit. In fact merit is possibly the least important consideration in supporting new members. I'm a bit surprised that I am not on the list, especially as I spend my own money to try to help new members to become good members of the forum. Also, I believe that I have given merit to more than 5 brand new members in the past.
I assume your list is based on awards to the spambies who dropped rank to newbie because they had been unable to earn any merit during the period before the latest rule change. I'd be grateful if you could change the title to reflect this fact, as the current title is a slap in the face to members who try to encourage genuine new members.

Normally I give a lot of merit to newbies, but these days after the change, the forum is like a street full of beggars. Everyone is trying to get merit in one way or another, begging, cursing the merit system, loving the merit system, just posting memes in hope to get some, etc. It's just crazy time now. I'll wait some time unlit things are a bit more settle down and the beggars are a bit discouraged then I'll start giving as before. I guess there are more people doing the same.

You don't need to assume. The time period is listed. Members who support newbies (9/17/2018 - 9/21/2018)
I took it as a list of the people who are actively following the below recommendation. If a newbie posts something that could be even called good, then give them 1 merit.

I made the list if only just barely but I have gone through a lot of post histories to have only gotten 5.. I have been looking for them in particular but I'm really surprised that 5 makes the list at all..
I'll keep looking for them and try to stay on this list but I only have the smerit I get so it's not exactly a fair fight to the top.. Also, I'm not sure why their are only 53 on the top 200 list..

A good catch. How about the source of file where you got your data? You just defeated DdmrDdmr in this statistics race This would be a an eye turning for other DT members to watch this to give them an early Christmas gift. They even overtake Ognasty in giving merits to new members.

I would suggest that we include a membership time in the newbie rank criteria. If you have been here for more than a month, and made more than 30 posts without merit, then you are no longer a newbie. It is because of this that I am opposed to a merit requirement for junior members. I think it would be better to remove it, and to disallow signatures for both newbies and juniors.
Failing that, please can we have a new category of "spambie". this would mean that real new members are not tarred with the spammers brush.
