In any case, I think this story shows the beauty of the bitcoin protocol. Maybe he really is Satoshi Nakamoto, the bitcoin creator, but unless he confesses, nobody will ever know the truth and he can still spend all of his bitcoins without anyone being able to find the truth. The IP is dynamic of Megapath now then other Californian provider and it can't be 'fake' unless Hal replaced it in the log (which he obviously did not, log is unaltered). It's browsing history says it was in LA (Maxmind geoip db).
