Creating a coin requires not just a simple knowledge. Putting time in here is not a joke and you aren't sure if all efforts will be paid someday.

Investing in an ICO also requires not just a simple knowledge. It's risky and most of the cases, it was bound to fail especially today. And even they will succeed, we aren't sure if their coin will be listed on a decent exchange or will have a decent price way above at ICO price.

Bottom line:

Don't ever step up in a road where you aren't sure if you can deal with the obstacles on the way. Make a self analysis and not just because others told you to do "this" or "that".

Both ways are very critical and risky which needs thorough understanding on how you could minimize the loss that's at stake. I would also prefer in ICO investments because it is less crucial than creating a new coin.

The comparison is like printing your currency or investing in Venezuelan bolívar.IMO
It is easy to create an ERC20 token using blockchain and does not require specialized technical knowledge, but it is difficult to make it valuable. So your token value will remain zero forever.
Investing in ICOs seems less risky than creating crypto but does anyone want to buy it? Same above.

Do a thorough search on the subject and try not to invest more than you can lose.

First of all, my question to OP is, why do you need to create a new coin? What is the utility of it? We literally have coins for almost everything and every utility available in the market and the market is overburdened with thousands of shitcoins. It is harming the entire crytpo economy as the investment funnels are getting divided! So new coin is a big no-no for me!

Investing in ICO will only do good if you are vigilant enough to separate between good and bad ICO. There are literally thousands of ICO available todays just like thousands of shitcoins. Majority of them are useless and don't really have a long term growth plan in place. Majority of them don't even have a contingency plan as well. So if you can identify good ICO with experienced team and legal status, ICO investment can be a good option for earning. But do proper research before you put in your hard earned money into ICOs.

If you have enough money and experience, then starting your own business by creating a new coin will be more profitable.
But, keep un mind that creating the coin is not the most important thing (I think it would be the easiest part).
Investing in ICOs is less profitable (in 99% of cases) but does not require any effort.

I much want to invest than to create a new coin. Creating a coin is a big responsibility,need more efforts to improve the coin and also need more big capital or money to make a new coin. That's why much better to invest than to create a new coin if that coin will be like other coin that will be abandoned.

Creating a coin entails a lot. You need the cognate experience, human and material resources and the right partnerships to make it work. But again, you need to ask yourself, of what value will it be adding to the space, what's the use case? Is there another project doing the same thing? Honest answers to these questions will shape your decision to create a coin or better still, invest in an ICO which to me is a veritable option.

In creating a new token in this crypto currency, it needs big capital, and long time planning as well. Aside from that you must also have a team who will help you out to implement properly the program you have in the project. While in investing in ICO I think is much more better due to less hassle and all you need to is to invest or buy the token they have project.

This is what I like about how tokens / coins made to be valuable in the future LOL, most of them have thrown them away with all the needs in developing a project, by promising success and kindness in the future, many examples of coins that die are forgotten by many investors, which apply for now and in the future, the luckiest are the coins that first place them above rank to at least always get more attention from the public.

I myself prefer to invest in ICO because it requires knowledge about reading market trends, rather than having to make new coins which I think have a greater risk, not to mention having to find a team that is really great at this, then ascertain whether the coin we make it sell well, and you have to compete with a lot of existing  coins

I'm not into creating coins. It has more responsibility instead of just creating for the heck of it. You will lose if you just created shitcoins with no value whatsoever.

As for investing, if more than half of your investment is in jeopardy then make the necessary adjustments and offload useless coins and go try to invest on the next hype coin, get out before the hype die, rinse and repeat.

I think it's better to invest, because if more ico in the market will only make the market more coins or tokens and it will impact on the exchange rate that cannot compete.

Obviously, that is the reason we have shit loads of them as a lot of people are only just looking for a way to make themselves richer, but the thing right now is that a lot of investors have really become so wise enough to be able to detect bullshit and you would only end up frustrated when you are trying to pitch an idea to investors without at least having a good solid product, a fantastic real team that can do the job and a lovely and enticing business solution, not to talk of promotion.

All those things are not small to do, but best bet, investment is for everyone and those who cannot come up with a great idea instead of polluting the space should just invest in one.

Both have great risks. If you make a new coin, it's not necessarily people will buy it and it's not easy to insert coins into the exchange list. And if investing in an ICO is not necessarily a project they will succeed. what's worse when investing ICOs you find a scam project and it's very annoying

If you really want to have a lot of money then you should try to create a coin even though it's useless. You can gather a lot of funds and sponsors if you create a nice ads about it since a lot of ICO and new coins is doing the same.

Creating a coin is not even something small as there is so much task to do when it comes to that and even though it could be rewarding, your efforts may end up fruitless eventually if things are not done properly.

For instance, we are talking about creating a product that would attract investors, and then coming up with a good business solution while you keep working on the product to make a real life usable product and then all the marketing you will have to do at the end of it all to be able to pitch that to potential investors are not small tasks at all. So at the end, like some have said, it all depends on the individual's basic knowledge of what they want to produce or what they want to invest that would determine which way they want to go.
