I believe Tim did lose a lot of money getting this coin built/running and that is why he isn't very active here anymore.

It is true I am no coder. A Lot of money went into the project. I have had several coders starting with some big names in the beginning of the coin start ups. The coder which I was to never mention made some of the largest coins still rolling today. Bryce Weiner (not coder) was also one of the architects of the project. These folks were only there for advice and startup. Anyone can help to fix the coin as its all out there on GitHub.

The problem is the trust of a coder to not implement an unnoticed issue. We don't want to ruin the integrity of this long running stable coin. Anyone is welcome to reach out to coders to help resolve.

...

Tim

I would tend to agree with that. The issue is

1) Find somebody who everybody has enough confidence in.

2) Raise a bounty fund or whatever.

3) Put the code up and let people go through it open source.

So at this point it seems up to Tim or fartbags to make a wallet, either THC or BTC, that could be used to induce an outsider to spend a while updating things. Since a wallet fix would reinvigorate the coin and increase price probably, it seems wise to make the bounty in THC.

Also looking ahead, it has been mentioned possibly doing other things with the coin. Fartbags mentioned using another algo that might give other possibilities. One thing I support that was mentioned is broadening the focus generally to medicinal plants. Hemp, as a plant, is famous because George Washington, Th Jefferson etc grew it, yet it is restricted. Marijuana, which is similar, is becoming legal in more U.S. states and there are a lot of weedcoins that focus on commercializing marijuana specifically.

The idea of using this coin to promote hemp cultivation (research it) is good, but maybe a broader theme like medicinal or "useful" plants that can be cultivated (non commercially) by individuals is good. There could be some marketplace where people could buy and sell MountainRoseHerbs https://www.mountainroseherbs.com/ type stuff. That would involve Tim making a market website of some sort, which might make a little money, and would allow us to get back to the nice idea of him paying for everything, which is better than me chipping in.

There will be lots of good stuff we can include in hempcoin later on. Everything is so early. A switch to Ethereum 2.0 will probably be the best choice. We will see how things go with it though. A bonus is that there will be many DApps that come in the package with Ethereum. Ethereum based projects will get decentralized market places, social networks, smart contracts and more.

Who would do this and how much might it cost? Is there any timeframe? Would that idea then negate the need to update the THC wallet?

You had mentioned once something like Soil https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1176709.0 It is good to say "Everything is so early" but does that mean the next step is to wait?

In the meantime, someone could fix the PoS part of this coin. Unfortunately bitcoin does not scale and THC is based on bitcoin. This problem effects all other coins including Ethereum 1.0 which does not scale either.

Right now The Hempcoin could work well in smaller markets like the hemp industry. If there were farmers or producers of hemp wanting to use the hemp coin, they could use the hemp coin to transfer funds.

Block reward halving coming up:

https://www.blockexperts.com/hemp

I think it will happen at block 1,000,000

current block is 950,000ish

Block halving was successful. I got https://hemp.cash up on my azure bizspark account. I haven't done much testing so far. It's working for social sharing to earn hempcoins. Deposits and withdraws are not working yet.

I plan to switch code bases to one that scales better. I like Ethereum 2.0 right now. I would edit Ethereum 2.0 to work with a Scrypt blockchain. The length of the blockchain is part of the security. We have to keep the blockchain going.

I can help you move SativaCoin over to the same code base if I figure out how to move THC over. Then we can use all the open source 3rd party code built for Ethereum. That is when the green machine will start coming together.

https://hemp.cash is down. It's so expensive to run. I blew through my $300 Azure credits before the end of the month. It'll be back up in a few days when I get more credits.

Blockchains take up enough storage that it makes them really expensive to run on rented servers. Hopefully this changes in the future and data storage capacity increases on these servers.

I thought they might be talking about HMP but I did the calculations and the numbers match with THC and not HMP. They might have HMP but calculated the value of them from the THC marketcap by accident... This is pretty good news. It also says "Every 10 hempcoins are backed by 1 share of Rocky Mountain Inc (RMTN)". Very interesting.

I wonder if this company is working on any 3rd party software/hardware for hempcoins.
