Griffith: I have upgraded the wallet in my node from the latest source code at the github and then Bittrex have lost the connection.
Probably the Bittrex exchange have not upgraded yet. They shows the last block 1528133. My wallet is at block 1528169.
What is the correct chain now?

did you resync? if you resync you will be on the correct chain.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

is there a mining pool that is using THC?

I do not think there are any pools. It would be great if someone could help getting THC listed on a reputable pool.

I updated as soon as the link for new wallet was posted here. I still have over 2 million THC out of sync. That makes me more than little pissed.  Angry
My wallets last block is Block 1524569 April 8 05:58:32

I transferred those coins to my wallet 4-6 months ago.

I seem to be stuck on that block as well. I just re-downloaded the entire blockchain yesterday.

I'm still stuck on this block after almost 24 hours.
I have tried the following:
  • re-scanning
  • tested it on three different machines using both Windows 7 and Linux
  • with and without proxy servers.
Anyone else stuck here?
It appears the last block came in at 12:21 PM U.S. Mountain time, 2017-04-09.

yes, that is the latest block. the chain is frozen for the moment giving people time to resync. new blocks should start to be minted today as soon as people resync and start mining/staking

i will be posting a bootstrap later tonight. this will help anyone who might be on the wrong block resync without waiting for a day to download all of the blocks

if you are NOT on block 1524569 you need to resync. here is a bootstrap to help you https://www.cryptounited.io/downloads/thc/bootstrap

 Sad

I doubt the block 1524569 is the last one whereas the bittrex wallet frozen at 1528133. They should roll back more than 3500 block because an unannounced change was made in the code over night? They will be delighted surely.
BTW, after resync, I am still in the "incorrect" chain, 1529744 blocks now  Angry

Updated Checkpoints should be used this late in the game, if things go sour maybe revert to a previous block ?

Akaipool is one of the legacy pools that has been around for a while, maybe hit them up with a request to add HempCoin.

Alright. i feel like a full explanation of what is going on is needed. So this the the basic chain of events.

{previous events}
PoW was the only thing working, was chugging along by itself just fine. I was contacted asking to fix PoS, i did that. Again, everything was fine. Then there was a 500 block rollback due to a very large chain reorganization one day and some people (including bittrex) said they lost coins. I wasnt running a node myself at the time so i couldn't actually get confirmation on exactly what block everything happened on (lack of debug file). Well the problem was that 500 blocks were reorganized and that made a lot of transactions invalid. So solution to this problem is obviously, lets limit the maximum number of blocks that we can reorganize at any given time. i coded that fix. updated the git. recompiled windows wallets, sent them off. told bittrex to update. they updated.

{where the problems started}
the person that made the current website (not the hempcoin bitcointalk account, it was someone else), hempcoin.org had left (unknown to me) and had used some stupid php tool called joomla to make the website. i was asked to put the wallets up myself on the site but i have never used joomla. joomla is a drag and drop tool that requires no actual coding and as a result produces a bunch of (what i can tell) unreadable by human files of code that create the website (i disagree with using CMS like this in general). so i just uploaded the wallets, hosting them myself which are the links people are using now. so the delay on getting out the 2.0.0.1 wallets to users who werent able to compile themselves from github.

{where we are now}
whats the problem now? the time gap between the github update and me posting the wallets was long enough that a bunch of people forked off into their own personal forks (i was able to determine this using the peer checking tools built into the wallets, getpeerinfo and such) depending on who updated and what peers their wallets had. Solution? freeze the chain temporarily (like it is now) until enough people can resync to get on the right chain. once a large portion of the clients on the network are on the same chain again, the exchange will resync and everything will resume and go back to normal.

Great job, Griffith!
Wallet with your bootstrap works fine.
It would be helpful copy here nodes that are on the correct chain.

it looks like we are down to 2 forks. from a previous number of 5. so its slowly resolving itself. im actually going to remove the bootstrap as i see something else that might be better.

update: it looks like there are now 2 distinct forks. the one i posted the bootstrap for and the one bittrex currently shows. based on what i was told in PM's if you resync from scratch you will end up on the longer chain (which bittrex is on) so this is now the preferred resync method

edit: i am currently resyncing a node from scratch. if it syncs with the bittrex chain. i will post that bootstrap instead.

Didn't I say?

However, Bittrex frozen again, now at 1530416. The wallet in my block explorer has 1530433 blocks and resync did not solved it.

Could you ask Bittrex for their debug.log file to see that it is caused by "attempting to reorganize unhealthy number of blocks, reorganization prevented"?

your block explorer is on the bittrex chain. that is the correct chain. i am resyncing nodes right now and the debug log files have all shown me that the chain your BE is on is the one they are naturally selecting now that it is down to 2 chains to choose from.

so everyone should resync if they are not matching your BE so that they do match your BE. bittrex wallet isnt blocked right now. i gave them a peer list and they are running it again

OK. As you posted your bootstrap file, I used it and got to your chain. Then you posted that it was not the chain on which bittrex is, so I restored the wallet from a backup and reloaded. Here is a part of my debug.log file, where Reorganize failed:

***********
received block 00000004c4c0b54bce2b

Postponing 265 reconnects
REORGANIZE
ERROR: Reorganize() : attempting to reorganize unhealthy number of blocks, reorganization prevented

As I understand it, the block 1524745 tried to replace the block 1530367 and was denied, because vDisconnect.size() > 50.
If such a debug message appear, it means that the chain is forked and someone (or everyone) should do resync? Then some checkpoints or a bootstrap archive may be usefull for a faster recovery.
