There's no perfect time to buy altcoin, though it's a wise move to buy when the value is considerably lower to give you a better opportunity to make good profits. But in purchasing altcoin one needs to be very knowledgeable about the project and the team. A project with hardworking team and good use case would be a great investment.

Agree. It's important to do your own research first, just to be safe. Most people nowadays are largely driven by hype with the ambition of making profits within the shortest time possible. Once their altcoin of choice becomes abandoned by developers, they end up losing all of their hard-earned money. A cheap altcoin doesn't mean that it has a bright future after all. What largely determines this, is if the same has active development, innovation, and most of all, real uses within the mainstream world.

In times where we're still in a bear market, it's best to buy alts within the top 5 - 10 market cap rankings. Ethereum should be on the top of your list of long-term investments, because of its dedicated community and battle-tested performance unlike no other cryptocurrency to date. While it's still a PoW cryptocurrency, you should buy and hodl ETH in your wallet to prepare for the big event in 2020. By that time, it's hoped that Ethereum will switch to PoS, allowing investors to earn extra coins with their ETH balance on their wallet of choice. This, combined with an upsurge in price across the crypto market is a win-win situation in my opinion.

Nonetheless, this is still the right time to buy alts as the market is on a constant decline. Until everything settles down, you'll continue to see most altcoins becoming cheaper each day. That's not the case with Bitcoin and Stablecoins, where you could take advantage of the situation in order to buy more altcoins for long-lasting profits within the future. Just my opinion

True FACTS. Only buy tokens that has mvp that  are in beta or alpha right now. Though, I will warn other fellow traders here to stay away from gaming tokens because I still don't see them delivering having only one game and their prices and volume are the proof that even big whales don't want to touch it. The project also should also have a huge devoted and active community and the price is in a good condition.

funny how time flies by and how alts are again on a good position to be bagged... of course it might still take some time until the alt christmas, but there are so many promising alts out there that it will be worth the wait...

YES if you are looking for a long term hold like 3-5 years from now. Its really hard to catch the very bottom of a certain coin but if you are looking for long term you can apply the DCA rule or dollar cost averaging which is very effective in any type of investments.

The aforementioned altcoins are the ideal ones to invest while prices are this low, in my own opinion. They've been proven to be quite resilient over time, with a large number of supporters behind them. My top picks would be ETH and LTC since they're one of the oldest altcoins in existence. Ethereum has been proven to provide secure and efficient smart contracts for the world, while Litecoin has been considered by many people as "silver" to Bitcoin's "gold". With every halving event on the LTC blockchain, it's hoped that it would become more valuable over time. That doesn't seem to be the case nowadays, since crypto is still in a bear market. But rest assured that once everything settles, major cryptocurrencies like LTC and ETH will skyrocket like never before.

Other altcoins like XRP and XLM are a great investment too, considering that they have partnerships within the financial industry. IBM is heavily backing the Stellar blockchain, while renowned banks are backing the XRP blockchain. Considering how prominent both cryptos been within the past years, I'd say that they're perfect as a long term investment. Maybe on that kind of altcoins you mention its have some potential of it from the future must better to hold it for a long time if we want to earn more profit the altcoins we hold. Actually there are so many potential altcoins that we need to buy or hold for a long time but we need to time and search for them on which altcoins it is.

It's difficult to judge. Have we hit the bottom for alts in price vs BTC? I suspect that the next rise will start off led by BTC again, so we may see alts drop a bit further in BTC price. But I think longer term it is very likely that we will see an alt recovery.

So now is probably a good time to pick up (high quality) alts, but maybe not quite the very best time.

Yes, still, altcoins are given a very good opportunity for people who are looking for investment. If you compare to the 2019 year, now the prices of altcoins went very low in the market. Research before investing any coin because there will be huge chances for the coin, if the market starts recovering again.

There's some minor recover now for altcoins compared to last year, 2018 for me was the best year to accumulate altcoins as BTC that time dip to over $3K only. When they buy, they need to convert their fiat to BTC, but now BTC is over at over $10,000 so it's quite high already.

However, I'm not saying it's not a good time to buy anymore, of course, it's still on the accumulation phase since altcoins are still cheap, but we need to ensure we are ready to hold it longer as this market is not guaranteed it will rise after a long bear market.
