I don't know why this could be a possibility of hidden manipulation, if for example bitcoin, crypto and things are separated from the internet then it is not "Block" & "Chain" because it is not connected, so it should be to avoid manipulation and fraud it would be better if indeed this is the special features of the blockchain

If that technology can work well then it is definitely very good progress, because with this technology we can use bitcoin without the internet where the use of bitcoin fully involves the internet so far. I personally don't know too much about that technology, but with this information I think it will be very good.

Using satelite provide more expensive rather than internet.
Why people want to use something expensive while the cheaper have same benefit.

It's become the alternate solution let say when disaster ruin internet for eternity which IMO it's impossible to happen in next 100 years

I'm not too informed on the Blockstream satellite stuff. I'm reading an article about it now. Can users who set up nodes via satellite only receive the blockchain? Are they not able to broadcast transactions as well? See here:

Well, I do not think if we can used Bitcoin without internet. Cryptocurrency become known as a virtual or digital money inside in the internet. Personally, I do not see if we could use it wihout internet because currently we need to have an internet before we access all of transaction in cryptocurrency unless some network offer a free data use in crypto currency.

Bitcoin was created on a computer, and is designed to work with an interconnecting network of "recorders" ( nodes). The Internet is just one way to connect these computers. It could be done with radio or men on horses, but it would probably be too slow to be practical.

As I understand it those who want to work with this satellite system should install a satellite receiver in their homes. We do not know how safe it is and we also have no idea how much this will cost. I am not old-minded I would like to try but why should we change the internet (which we know what it is) to the Blockstream Satellite?

I think that this is indeed progress, as it will enable people from third world countries to get access to Bitcoin easily. We all know that the Internet is not fully accessible by everyone around the world. Hence, using satellites to transmit Bitcoin blockchain data is a clever idea to allow offline transactions to be broadcasted later into the main chain. It's revolutionary, but it's success will depend if people could easily use this system or not.

Once Blockstream satellites spread access to the Bitcoin blockchain around the world, then Bitcoin would truly become the world currency we've all been waiting for. That should be enough to render Fiat currency obsolete, as people would use Bitcoin at a large scale.

Nonetheless, it seems that Bitcoin is progressing in the way transactions are made offline. Now, we not only have the satellites, but also goTenna with the Samourai Wallet to enable frictionless payments without the need to depend on the Internet at all. Just my opinion

As of now, the technology of bitcoin has brought great innovations to our current systems. But, internet connection to other parts of the world would be one of its limitations. Satellites and other ways to improve internet connections would be great. It will only take few years to give worldwide internet connection especially those in remote areas. Technology will find its ways little by little.

It is a progress. Bitcoin needs an internet connection in the past to send a transation and most of the time, it is really frustrating especially when you are in a place that do not really have a great connection. I live in a province where internet connection is not that reliable, most of the place don't have that fast internet connection. This will improve paying offline and making Bitcoin more useful in terms of you buying things offline anywhere.

It is a progress. Bitcoin needs an internet connection in the past to send a transation and most of the time, it is really frustrating especially when you are in a place that do not really have a great connection.

That's still the case here. You can only receive data from the Blockstream satellites. This allows people to validate transactions they've received and sync the blockchain without the internet.

You can't broadcast transactions the same way. That still requires the internet.

I think this is very convenient specially to the small country like here in the Philippines we know already that not all Filipinos using computer with Internet because some of them are not enough to pay always for Internet connection for daily transaction. I think Through IP address we can access for this kind of Blockstream Satelite. So its good very nice i hope this gonna be viable anytime.
